    England 0-0 Colombia

Georgia Stanway plays the square ball across the box and Millie Bright sends the ball in, heads go up but it goes backwards.

Nothing much in the way of England attempts since that early effort which resulted in Carolina Arias having to come off.

Great technique from Linda Caicedo to cut inside and curl in but the finish was lacking, fortunately for England.

Alex Greenwood, who has been one of England's best players at this tournament in my opinion, has started off with so much composure. A few times she's carried the ball out from the back and beaten Colombia's press.

But Linda Caicedo is already giving Lucy Bronze a run for her money and it's got the crowd going.

    England 0-0 Colombia

First glimpse of what Linda Caicedo can do.

She runs at the England backline and fires off a decent shot from the left hand side but it blazes over the bar.

It's been a good start from England so far, they are just feeling Colombia out.

It looks like they are quite happy letting the play come down the left hand side.

    England 0-0 Colombia

Good ball in once again from the right and it's a decent header from Alessia Russo but straight into the gloves of goalkeeper Catalina Perez.

This England team are used to being put under pressure. Colombia tend to commit to pressure on the ball, and tend to be relentless.

  8. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 11:41 British Summer Time 12 August 2023

    England 0-0 Colombia

That's very unfortunate for Colombia. It looks like Carolina Arias is going to be unable to continue.

On comes 18-year-old Ana Guzman to replace her.

England are going to get joy with early crosses into the area.

It was Rachel Daly free at the back post in case Alessia Russo missed it.

These are the chances England have to convert if they want to put this game to bed early.

  10. Postpublished at 11:40 British Summer Time 12 August 2023

    England 0-0 Colombia

Carolina Arias looks OK, she is on her feet.

It looks like she's fine after taking the ball to the head but seems to have hurt her knee in the collision on the grass with team-mate Catalina Perez. She's off the pitch and attempting to run it off it seems.

  11. CLOSE!published at 11:38 British Summer Time 12 August 2023

    England 0-0 Colombia

    Ohhhhh so close!

England build a first attack of the game. The cross comes in from the right and Lauren Hemp goes for goal but there's Colombia bodies on the floor and they make the block.

It comes back to Alessia Russo who has a shot of her own but it's straight into the side of Carolina Arias' head on the turf. There was nothing she could do about that and it was at full pelt on the side of her head. Ouch.

We are in Lake Garda. Can't watch the game so following on text. So nervous. Come on England.

Watching from Heathrow Terminal 5, hoping to catch the first 15 minutes before we take off. It'll all be decided by the time we land. Go Lionesses.

    Zoe and Erin

Following the match on my phone coming back from a weeks camping in Scotland (and yes, it's raining a LOT!). Running out of data and the signal kept cutting out for the Australia v France match so hoping I don't miss any of the England match. Very nervous!

Early nerves, perhaps? England happy to just pass around the back line but Rachel Daly passes it straight out of the pitch.

They will have to shake those jitters off and try to cope with what is a crowd heavily against them.

You can't see many white shirts in here at all. It's drowned in yellow. Plenty of people were no doubt watching the earlier penalty shootout so there's still lots of empty seats.

But the Colombian fans who are in here are making noise. Their national anthem was sung very passionately. This feels like a proper away game for England.

We've had three absolutely thrilling quarter-finals so far.

Sweden, Spain, Australia, who will join them?

The whistles from the crowd have started early with Colombia fans trying to create an intimidating atmosphere whenever England are on the ball.

It will be a tall order to fill the gap left by Lauren James for Ella Toone.

We haven't seen the best of her yet in this tournament, we're going to have to see it tonight.

Rachel Brown-Finnis' World Cup predictionsImage source, BBC Sport

An Australia versus England semi-final would be amazing - I am refusing to buy my kids Australia shirts in case it happens.

People are starting to doubt England, but this is the game where I think they will come out and play some beautiful football and get into a groove.

Even so, it is going to be very close and there are so many personal battles all over the pitch which will help decide it. I'm particularly looking forward to Lucy Bronze against Linda Caicedo on England's right flank, and Millie Bright up against Catalina Usme in the middle.

Colombia are a quality team and they will definitely create some chances - they switch play very effectively with diagonal balls and are very dangerous with headers.

But Mary Earps has kept three clean sheets and only been beaten from the penalty spot - during the group-stage win over China and the shootout victory over Nigeria in the last round - and she is not going to concede here either.

    Brown-Finnis' prediction: 1-0

Colombia boss Nelson Abadia said the fact they are the last nation representing the Americas at the Women's World Cup is motivation to beat England in Sydney.

Back-to-back world champions the USA were stunned in the last 16, while Olympic gold medallists Canada failed to get out of their group.

"To be representing the whole of the Americas is important," said Abadia.

"To have all this positive energy not only from Colombia but from the whole continent is beneficial."

Abadia also plans to treat Saturday's showdown like a game of chess and hopes to outsmart Wiegman.

"We need to be chess players and analyse," said Abadia.

"We have analysed England and what our best chances are going to be. "We know all the history that England brings in football, it's important. But for me, it's 11 against 11 and the optimism is the same we have for every match.

"There are several variables in any match - technical, tactical and physical. What's important is the strength in the team's character and that is going to be vital for what we need to do."

Colombia have got no pressure because in the end, the pressure is on England but they do have the quality and if everything falls right on the day for them, they do have a chance to get through and go to the semi-finals.

They need their fans to get there.
