This is quite a hostile ground.

In moments where United are struggling this is when they need to hear their fans, especially as the season goes on, and if they stay in the Champions League, they're going to have games like this where they're going to have to grind out results.

This crowd when at their loudest can be quite frightening.

Two saves in as many minutes for Kaylan Marckese.

Makes you wonder how Bristol City would have fared without her this afternoon, she's made some impressive stops.

Twice now she has denied Khadija Shaw a second goal of the afternoon, both efforts denied with a strong palm away from close range.

    (Khadija Shaw - 38 mins)

Of course when City are in the mood for goals, Khadija Shaw normally has a hand in proceedings.

The Jamaican forward is picked out with a floating cross from Mary Fowler, and she nods the ball into the bottom of corner of the Bristol City net.

A second goal in as many games for Shaw and it looks a long way back for the visitors now.

Today will be the 13th time in just over two years that Arsenal Women have played a competitive match at Emirates Stadium.

A crowd of 8,705 watched the Gunners beat Chelsea 3-2 in September 2021, but that figure was dwarfed by the 54,115 that witnessed the 1-0 loss to Liverpool earlier this month - the highest attendance ever for a WSL match.

As of Wednesday the club said they had sold more than 32,500 tickets for this one, although that figure is set to rise with the possibility of Beth Mead maybe being involved for the first time this year, a family-friendly start time of 2pm on a Sunday and the prospect of a lovely sunny day in London.

It also shows how quickly the women's game is growing in England and just over 5,000 watched a Champions League quarter-final against Wolfsburg in March 2022 before an Arsenal Women's record of 60,063 saw the Gunners against the same opponents in May's semi-final.

The Emirates will also be the venue for the WSL matches against Chelsea (10 December), Manchester United (17 February) and Tottenham (3 March) and boss Jonas Eidevall wants the stadium used more often, with a view to eventually leaving their current 4,500-capacity home at Meadow Park.

"The long-term plan is to move all the games to the Emirates," said Eidevall.

"If that's going to be possible you need to play back-to-back games. It can't be playing one game, waiting two months, having another game.

"We need a crowd that wants to return every week. That excites me a lot."

It's a wonderful ball into the box from Man City captain Alex Greenwood.

It is swung in at pace just in front of the the left hand corner of the area, and her centre-back partner Laia Aleixandri is ready and waiting for it in the six yard box.

The Spaniard simply directs the ball with a glancing header into the far bottom corner.
