  1. 'A special moment for me'published at 16:28 British Summer Time 3 September 2023

    FT: Liverpool 3-0 Aston Villa

    Liverpool

Liverpool goalscorer Dominik Szobozslai speaking to BBC after the win over Aston Villa: "I am enjoying it all the time. I am doing what I love to do. I think everyone is like this and if you are 3-0 up you are going to enjoy it. We showed last week we enjoy it when we are 1-0 down and we are just doing our thing."

On his first Liverpool goal "It is a special moment. If you score your first goal for Liverpool at Anfield it is always special. I am looking forward to getting even more.

"To be honest we practice in training these situations and I think after the first game I shoot 50m over the goal so I was concentrating even more. It is also a bit of luck but I just try my best."

On the performance: "It can be always more, it can be less. We take this and we knew if we come out and we think the game is over we were going to be in trouble but we wanted to score another one quick. We came out and score another and just enjoy it.

On settling in at the club: "I am comfortable. I really like the guys. Nice guys. Good players, good coach and I am just enjoying it."

  2. 'We were not clinical'published at 16:28 British Summer Time 3 September 2023

    FT: Liverpool 3-0 Aston Villa

    Aston Villa

Aston Villa boss Unai Emery, speaking to Match of the Day: "The first half was key. They were clinical. Maybe we were a little weak in some action and that was key in the first half. At 2-0 it was difficult but we tried to react, we had two very good chances at the beginning of the second half but after the third goal it was very difficult to come back.

"We played with some circumstances, like Diego Carlos being injured, and we played in some circumstances where we were not clinical.

"It was a tough match, they are a very good team and a candidate to be a top four. I was excited to test our performance but today we didn't."

On Diego Carlos: "Hopefully not a big injury. We added and joined Clement, trying to help us eventually and I think with him and other players we have to be stronger than today."

Will Carlos be out for a while now? "I don't know."

  3. 'Arsenal are unbalanced'published at 16:21 British Summer Time 3 September 2023

Arsenal v Manchester United (16:30 BST)

    Don Hutchison
Ex-Scotland midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

What's happened is a manager being stubborn and a manager who has spent an awful lot of money on Kai Havertz and now he's trying to shoehorn him in and it's unbalanced them.

I think if you asked any Arsenal fan what their ideal midfield three would be it would be Thomas Partey, Martin Odegaard, Declan Rice. The fact that Havertz has come in and he's playing in midfield, that's shifted Thomas Partey to right-back.

That's put Ben White from right-back to centre-half. Gabriel hasn't started a game this season and when you think of him and Saliba last season they were incredible. And then Tomiyasu has gone from right-side bench to left-back because of Zinchenko's injury.

  4. 'Arsenal got closer but there's still a huge gap'published at 16:18 British Summer Time 3 September 2023

Arsenal v Manchester United (16:30 BST)

    Dion Dublin
Former England striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

There is an element here that it might not just be Manchester United that have fallen away. I think Manchester City have gone so far ahead from the others that it making the other teams look worse.

They have created this gap that is making everyone look way off City. Arsenal got closer but there's no point in saying that.

They got closer, but they didn't get there.

  5. Sutton's predictionpublished at 16:17 British Summer Time 3 September 2023

Arsenal v Manchester United (16:30 BST)

Premier League title winner Chris Sutton is making predictions for all 380 Premier League matches again this season, against a variety of guests.

His opponent for this weekend's fixtures is actor and comedian David Earl, star of new film Apocalypse Clown and a Manchester United fan.

    Sutton's prediction: 2-1

Both these teams I think performance-wise have underachieved albeit Arsenal have seven points from nine and Manchester United have six from nine.

I think there are question marks over whether Mikel Arteta has been tinkering too much, legitimate questions really. Manchester United just haven't sparked yet. They ended up beating Nottingham Forest with a dubious penalty.

Arsenal, at Emirates Stadium - this is going to be the kick-start to their season. I think they'll beat Manchester United but I don't think it'll be a walkover.

    David's prediction: 3-2

  8. 'We want Salah to stay'published at 16:11 British Summer Time 3 September 2023

    FT: Liverpool 3-0 Aston Villa

    Liverpool

Liverpool goalscorer Dominik Szobozslai speaking on the world feed after the win over Aston Villa: "It feels always good to win, even away, but at home against I don't know how many people I am glad to score my first goal and there are going to be more coming.

"It's always different, in the first home game we started not so well and against Newcastle we didn't so the important thing was to come out well now and finish with 11 men. We did quite ok, quick to 2-0 and came out good and scored a goal in the second half too."

On settling in a Liverpool: "Yeah I said it after the second game or the third game that of course we need time. We don't know each other so well yet but we are going to be even better and better."

On Salah's future: "You know it is football everyone is talking. We are really happy that he has stayed. We are of course speaking between each other but he wants to stay, he wants to be here and be with us. We are really happy - we need people in the team like him."

  9. 'A routine win'published at 16:09 British Summer Time 3 September 2023

    FT: Liverpool 3-0 Aston Villa

    Leon Osman
Former Everton midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

This is what they will want for the majority of games at Anfield. They will want it to be routine and the other team turning up just to get beat. That's what it felt like today.

It was an impressive afternoon from Liverpool.

    FT: Liverpool 3-0 Aston Villa

    Leon Osman
Former Everton midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

I think they started really well. Al the damage was done in the first 15 minutes. They really showed their quality and Aston Villa were well below the standards I expected of them.

It is exactly how they want to go into the international break. Alexander-Arnold was at the heart of every move Liverpool mustered.

Villa would put this down as a blot on what has been a decent start to the season.

    Crystal Palace 3-2 Wolves

Indeed, there is no time for Wolves to do anything else. Matheus Cunha's 96th-minute headed goal proves to be the last of the action and Crystal Palace win it.

Odsonne Edouard scored twice, with Eberechi Eze getting the other one for the home side. Wolves' first goal came from substitute Hwang hee-chan.

David: Will never get over United having a player named Hannibal. Going to take a bite out of Arsenal.

Louis: These are the changes Arsenal fans called for. Keep things simple. There we go for the win.

Alistair: Havertz starting. I guess that's to be expected. Surprised Pepe isn't getting the nod over Saka too. Perhaps move Martin Odegaard into right back while Partey is out. Should've re-signed Squillaci, just for good measure. Definition of insanity .. rinse repeat

  20. goal

GOAL - Crystal Palace 3-1 Wolvespublished at 15:42 British Summer Time 3 September 2023

    Odsonne Edouard (Crystal Palace)

    That should do it.

Two goals for Odsonne Edouard and this is a lovely goal.

He plays the ball into the feet of Jean-Philippe Mateta and the substitute, who set up Eberechi Eze's goal a few minutes ago, has his back to goal, but provides an excellent backheel to send the ball back into Edouard's path and he calmly makes it 3-1.
