    Burnley 1-3 Aston Villa

Villa look far more likely to add to their lead here than see it cut again.

A couple of times they've been one good pass away from getting in on goal.

Nathan Redmond is trying to make stuff happen down on the left for Burnley. He's still only 29?! Feels like he's been around so long.

  2. DISALLOWED GOALpublished at 15:31 British Summer Time 27 August 2023

    Sheffield United 0-1 Man City

Erling Haaland needs goals against Chelsea, Liverpool and Brentford to complete his set. He now has the ball in the net again but he knew he was offside.

  3. Team news - Jota benched; Newcastle unchangedpublished at 15:30 British Summer Time 27 August 2023

    Newcastle v Liverpool (16:30 BST)

Eddie Howe names an unchanged Newcastle United starting lineup after last weekend's defeat by Manchester City.

Defender Lewis Hall, 18, is not included in the squad after joining on loan from Chelsea earlier this week. Howe had said he was available for selection before the match.

Brazilian midfielder Joelinton keeps his spot despite being forced off through injury against City.

Newcastle XI: Pope, Trippier, Schar, Botman, Burn, Tonali, Guimaraes, Joelinton, Almiron, Isak, Gordon

Subs: Dubravka, Lascelles, Wilson, Targett, Barnes, Livramento, Murphy, Anderson, Longstaff.

Diogo Jota is benched by Jurgen Klopp as he makes two changes to the Liverpool side who beat Bournemouth last time out.

Wataru Endo and Joel Matip come into the starting lineup.

Ibrahima Konate, who was a doubt with a muscle problem, is absent.

Liverpool XI: Alisson, Endo, Van Dijk, Diaz, Szoboszlai, Mac Allister, Salah, Gakpo, Robertson, Matip, Alexander-Arnold.

Subs: Kelleher, Gomez, Nunez, Elliott, Jota, Tsimikas, Bajcetic, Doak, Quansah.

I wouldn't mind seeing Martin Keown play against Erling Haaland, even now. I'll pitch it to the lads on Football Focus.

Haaland scoring with a touch. Although I’m sure Keown would have defended that with his elite…rattling. Some people are comical, City just keeping going.

It's been all about how to stop Manchester City, but Sheffield United now have to do something different if they want to get something from this game.

Brilliant as ever from Haaland. A lot of the doubters eating their words (again).

We can get back to landmark chats for Erling Haaland now. The blonde bombshell has scored 39 goals in 38 Premier League appearances. The Premier League record for fewest games to reach 40 goals is 45 by Alan Shearer and Andy Cole.

    What a save!

Ollie Watkins is set up six yards from goal by a wonderful low ball from Moussa Diaby and looks certain to score. He makes the block a bit easier by firing straight at James Trafford but the Burnley keeper still has a heck of a job on, which he does superbly with a big save.

That just about keeps the home side in this.

    Sheffield United 0-1 Manchester City

    Andy Hinchcliffe
Former Man City and Everton defender on Sky Sports

That's the key thing with Erling Haaland, he just keeps on going. He doesn't dwell on a miss, he keeps getting into goalscoring positions.

He gets in front of Robinson at the back post, gets a good connection on it, and heads down into the net.

Incredible mental strength from Haaland, no chance for Foderingham this time.

What a fantastic header at the far post, but it was all Jack Grealish down this left hand side. He stood Baldock up at the far post and put it on a plate for Haaland.

The Villa fans have found their voice again. To a person, they'd be lying if they said they weren't nervous five minutes ago.

Well, that's sucked the life out of the place.

What a signing Moussa Diaby is looking to be, a goal to go with his earlier assists and another all-round excellent showing from the Frenchman.

Villa look so, so good on the break. Both full backs fly up there and in Ollie Watkins and Moussa Diaby they have two direct runners and predatory finishers.

GOAL - Sheffield United 0-1 Man Citypublished at 15:23 British Summer Time 27 August 2023

    Erling Haaland (63 mins)

A sheepish look on the face of Erling Haaland! He's had a rare off day in front of goal but he keeps getting in there and opens the scoring in front of the away end.

Great play from Jack Grealish to tease the defence and stand up a cross, Haaland hangs like Jordan at the back post and nods it down and in.

Fabulous movement off the ball from Haaland but equally good keeping from Foderingham.

He recognises how Haaland is looking to finish and moves accordingly, stops him dinking the ball over him and gets a hand up to it.

    Brilliant save.

I said next goal was crucial.

Villa have burst that Burnley bubble that had been getting seriously pumped up since the restart.

  20. GREAT SAVE!published at 15:22 British Summer Time 27 August 2023

    Sheffield United 0-0 Man City

If ever Erling Haaland was having one...

The City goal machine must think he's scored again, he's in on goal and goes to dink Wes Foderingham but the keeper gets a hand up to somehow beat it clear. Julian Alvarez then lamps a shot in and that's saved as well.
