  1. 'It's a disappointing one for him'published at 15:40 British Summer Time 23 September 2023

    Man City 2-0 Nottingham Forest

    Michael Brown
Former Manchester City midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

He got in behind Walker, they tried to play it quick, tried to sprint in behind but the ball actually didn't go as expected, it sort of curled round into Akanji, who probably tried to just change direction as he looked over his head slightly off balance and then literally that pull-up.

His right hand goes right into his groin area and he falls back. It's a disappointing one for him.

Nuno Tavares is done for Forest.

He's gone down and is clearly unable to continue.

Forest do have about 300 right backs in reserve, though, one of them a World Cup winner in Gonzalo Montiel. He is on.

  3. RED CARD FOR WOLVESpublished at 15:38 British Summer Time 23 September 2023

    Luton 0-0 Wolves

    Jeanricner Bellegarde is sent off.

Really stupid play from the Wolves man.

He slides in on Tom Lockyer, the two players go down and Bellegarde sticks his boot into Lockyer as the two are on the ground.

    Big chance for Fulham!

Raul Jimenez is found on the right side of the box. He looks up and lashes a shot at goal that Sam Johnstone does really well to save.

  5. 'Ref hasn't covered himself in glory so far'published at 15:35 British Summer Time 23 September 2023

    Crystal Palace 0-0 Fulham

    Stephen Warnock
Former England and Liverpool defender on Final Score

The referee has not covered himself in glory so far in this game, Paul Tierney.

He has given a few yellow cards, particularly the one for Palhinha that was never a yellow, and then the incident there with Eze.

He's got his work cut out this afternoon, there are plenty of physical challenges going in and it looks like an army film at times with players just constantly hitting the deck.

  6. Postpublished at 15:35 British Summer Time 23 September 2023

    Man City 2-0 Nottingham Forest

The game has fallen into a bit of a lull in general.

City seem to be happy with their first-half work so far and have eased off the accelerator. It's giving Forest a much-needed respite. As does Moussa Niakhate going down to get some treatment.

  7. Postpublished at 15:33 British Summer Time 23 September 2023

    Luton 0-0 Wolves

Wolves have actually been on top for the last five minutes or so - but haven't had a shot yet, just a few crosses.

David: Wolves are just doing the old rope-a-dope. I think. (from a frustrated Wolves Fan).

Anonymous: Another team would be four goals up against Wolves right now. I don't understand why it's still scoreless.

  9. 'This is better from Forest'published at 15:32 British Summer Time 23 September 2023

    Man City 2-0 Nottingham Forest

    Michael Brown
Former Manchester City midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

This is better from Forest. Moving the ball around getting some touches, growing in confidence.

They can't give it away that cheaply though.

    Crystal Palace 0-0 Fulham

Eberechi Eze has a box full of players in front of him but instead opts to lash a free-kick slightly to the right of centre at goal.

Bernd Leno is right behind it.

  11. 'One way traffic, Forest are chasing shadows'published at 15:32 British Summer Time 23 September 2023

    Man City 2-0 Nottingham Forest

    Naz Premji
BBC commentator speaking on Final Score

Manchester City have had 89% possession so far.

They have dominated and it is literally one-way traffic at the moment, Forest are chasing shadows at times.

Pep Guardiola called Rodri the "best holding midfielder on the planet right now" in his pre-match press conference and you can see why.

Everything goes through him and he is capable of doing both the simple things well and providing moments of excellence.

  12. Postpublished at 15:32 British Summer Time 23 September 2023

    Man City 2-0 Nottingham Forest

Only a brilliant block stops it becoming 3-0.

Jeremy Doku takes Ola Aina to the cleaners and finds Julian Alvarez in the box. He turns but his low effort is halted by the diving Willy Boly.

  13. 'When he's in the middle of the pitch like that - sensational'published at 15:30 British Summer Time 23 September 2023

    Man City 2-0 Nottingham Forest

    Michael Brown
Former Manchester City midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

About that positional discussion with Phil Foden, where does he go? When he's in the middle of the pitch like that - sensational. On the half turn again, awareness fantastic, the ability just to move it into the space. He sets up Álvarez.

  14. Postpublished at 15:30 British Summer Time 23 September 2023

    Man City 2-0 Nottingham Forest

Finally, a little period of possession from Forest in the City half.

They are unable to fashion anything of meaning with it, though, as City stay disciplined and then rob the ball back.

  15. Postpublished at 15:29 British Summer Time 23 September 2023

    Luton 0-0 Wolves

Much better spell from Wolves now. They've weathered the Luton storm. Nelson Semedo and Rayan Ait-Nouri test the Hatters backline with crosses.

They have a corner now but Jacob Brown clears.

  16. Postpublished at 15:28 British Summer Time 23 September 2023

    Crystal Palace 0-0 Fulham

This is all a bit stop-start. Not much to report in terms of clear chances.

  17. Postpublished at 15:27 British Summer Time 23 September 2023

    Man City 2-0 Nottingham Forest

So yeah, 46 passes leading to Phil Foden's goal. To add to that, Opta have this...

It is the second longest passing sequence leading to a Premier League goal on record (since 2006-07), after Nacer Chadli’s strike for Spurs v QPR in August 2014 (48 passes).

  18. 'They want to find a bit of space for him'published at 15:26 British Summer Time 23 September 2023

    Man City 2-0 Nottingham Forest

    Michael Brown
Former Manchester City midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

They want to find a bit of space for Doku. He hasn't got that at the moment with Forest sitting so deep.

They've just got to be not complacent City.

  20. Postpublished at 15:26 British Summer Time 23 September 2023

    Luton 0-0 Wolves

It's 7-0 on shots. Luton will hugely regret their wasteful finishing if they don't take the lead this afternoon. They have yet to lead a Premier League game.
