Everything Nick in Birmingham said on Bruno Fernandes and Rashford of Man Utd was absolutely spot on. Utd have too many petulant, egotistical and lazy players unlike Man City where you see every player is working hard and giving their all for the team and not slacking. Even at 2-0 up to Forest Pep is demanding Haaland close down and not let up the unrelenting press.

    Anon

I actually agree with Nick from 19:42, I wouldn’t have any of the Man United players anywhere near my club, no matter how good they are on paper. Not professional enough, not mentally strong enough. They are what they are, and that’s bang average.

Brentford boss Thomas Frank, speaking to Sky Sports: "The first five games of the season we performed very well. This was hopefully a one-off. We need to bounce back and come out flying [in our next game].

"Everton deserved to win. Two key things - set pieces and a lot of the basic things. We lost the ball in similar situations and that put us on the backfoot. We did a good job to hang in the game and get an equaliser.

"We need to come out with a completely different mindset and performance in our next game."

    Bad times for Manchester United.

They United have made their worst start to a season for 37 years, losing four of their opening six games in all competitions for the first time since 1986.

They have lost their opening two away league fixtures for the first time since 1973-74, a season which ended in relegation.

Erik ten Hag's side have conceded 14 goals in all competitions this season, more than any other Premier League side.

They have let in three or more goals in three successive games for the first time since December 1978.

Brentford captain Christian Norgaard, speaking to Sky Sports: "We've been quite happy with our performances this season. This is by far our worst. It's hard to explain. We struggled to get to grips with the basics. Communication, organisation, those sort of things. We should be able to fix this quite easily. It's about taking responsibility. It's a team thing. You have to demand more from yourself. We failed to do the basics today."

What a great evening for Everton - they have shown a lot of confidence and resilience. Individual battles were won and overall a good team performance. This will give the team lots of confidence now for their next match.

Everton forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin, speaking to Sky Sports: "You can see the emotion at the end with the lads and the fans. It's been a tough start to the season. It's been frustrating personally to not be involved as much as I would have liked.

"Football is a funny old game. When I came off against Aston Villa my own fans booed me off. Today they cheered me. I'll relish this and take the rest with a pinch of salt."

Andre Onana has had a difficult start at United. He is playing in a team that is underperforming and conceding goals.

He has come in as a very expensive goalkeeper, almost £50 million and he is expected to hit the ground running and play well.

He got away with a potential penalty in the first game of the season against Wolves and his form has struggled.

We speak often about the weight of the Man United shirt and many have crumbled under it, and the pressure at Old Trafford is immense.

Man Utd fans won't like this (as they inexplicably and unconditionally worship both players) but they won't ever progress or improve until they sell both Bruno and Rashford. Both are great when things are going well, but their body language, attitude and work rate are appalling when things are going wrong - which, sadly for them, is most of the time. Petulant, lazy players who would get nowhere near Man City's, Arsenal's or Liverpool's strongest XIs.

When Manchester United signed Jonny Evans on a free transfer in the summer, most would have felt it was in a first-team advisory style capacity, not as a starter in a Premier League game.

The 35-year-old Northern Ireland defender is in a Red Devils first XI for the first time since 4 March 2015, in a 1-0 victory at Newcastle.

Ashley Young scored a late winner in that game and the 38-year-old just finished playing for Everton in their impressive win at Brentford.

  14. Sutton's predictionpublished at 19:36 British Summer Time 23 September 2023

Burnley v Man Utd (20:00 BST)

    Chris Sutton
    BBC football expert

    Burnley v Man Utd

This is a must-win game for Manchester United, and also a high-pressure one - particularly for their manager Erik ten Hag to get the doubters off his back.

Essentially, United need some good performances as well as some points. So far, they just haven't been up to the standard required.

United haven't been unlucky this season, where you are left thinking they have deserved more from the games they have lost. Instead, the opposite has been the case and they have been fortunate in the games they have won.

It feels unimaginable that they will lose again, for the fourth time in a row in all competitions, but they should not be dropping points at Turf Moor - full-stop.

Burnley are still without a win and, while I was impressed by their attacking play in their draw with Nottingham Forest, I still have reservations about them at the back.

Defensively, I don't know if Vincent Kompany's side are strong enough to stay in the Premier League which is why I think United will pick them off - and there will be a huge sigh of relief from Ten Hag if they do get over the line.

    Sutton's prediction: 1-2

Is Burnley's miserable start at home making way for blue skies?

Vincent Kompany's men have already lost three matches at Turf Moor this season, shipping 11 goals in the process.

But they come up against an off-form and out-of-sorts Manchester United which has lost their last three games in all competitions.

I asked the Clarets boss on Thursday whether it was a good time to be facing United and the Belgian said: "I have to prepare my team to face the best possible Man Utd team, with momentum, ambition, all their problems behind them and at their best."

Will United hit back with a victory or can Burnley spring a shock and pick up their first three points of the campaign?
