This is what happens when you have a goalkeeper who saves you time and time again for multiple seasons and then you push him out the club. Karma for De Gea. Maybe now Ten Hag and fans will actually start appreciating how good he was for United

    Anon

I bet they're really missing De Gea at United.

Colin: Can question the owners and the manager as much as you like but how many managers how these players downed tools for now?

Andy: Garnacho and Pellistri for Rashford and Mount!!

Andrew: Ten Hag isn’t immune from criticism, nor should he be, but you can’t plan for your goalkeeper letting in soft goals every week. I’ve said before, I know he’ll want to protect Onana, but maybe the best way to do that right now is to take him out of the firing line?

    Steven Wyeth
    BBC reporter at Goodison Park

Just asked the Everton fans sat behind the gantry why they're not more jubilant to be 2-0 up. A combination of 'it's just such unfamiliar territory' and 'we've been disappointed too often' the explanations offered. The realities of football fandom!

United need a complete reset, from Glazers down to Ten Hag. Ten Hag has favourites such as Southgate does, but Southgate's at least have earned the right. At this rate United will spend the season from December onwards in a relegation battle.

    Mike

The failure of Manchester United is the failure to replace Casemiro and Eriksen as the starters. They were world class players and should have been good recruitment for one season or so.

    Ratheesh, Orpington

I don't understand Ten Hag's approach at all. The players that consistently underperform are given chance after chance and the few that play with effort and passion (Garnacho, Pellistri, Mejbri) are rarely given time to shine.

So many big chances missed by Fulham! The latest is by Andreas Pereira as Sheffield United fail to clear inside the box but Pereira scoops over from close range.

Burnley have put out a statement on X: "We want to remind all supporters that homophobic and discriminatory chanting of all kinds is offensive and will not be tolerated at Turf Moor.

"Homophobic abuse is also a hate crime and punishable by law."

Sending all best wishes to Chris Basham. The Fulham fans were incredibly respectful.

So many of the spectators and players in that corner had their hands over their faces as Basham went down.

Paul Heckingbottom even came right across the pitch to Basham as he received treatment.

  13. 'Burnley have been the better team by far'published at 15:54 British Summer Time 7 October 2023

    HT: Burnley 1-1 Chelsea

    Izzy Christiansen
Former Everton and England midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

Burnley have been far the better team in terms of intent, intensity of the game. They're looked really lively, especially the front three of Wilson Odobert, Lyle Foster and Mike Tresor. burnley have looked really good in parts.

Chelsea just need to keep their heads. They are probably furious at the yellow card for Thiago Silva but he knows exactly what he is doing, I think it's warranted.

Still going in this one because of those 14 minutes of time added on. Sadly it hasn't been a game packed with chances, so there's not a great deal to report. If there is to be a goal, however, Fulham look most likely to get it.

Boos from the home supporters at half-time.

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag keeps saying his team have to do better. But they just aren't.

This could be three home defeats in a week against sides United really should be beating.

Chelsea are not happy with the referee here. As they make their way off the pitch, Thiago Silva - who was booked late on - is having words. So is boss Mauricio Pochettino, who gets booked for his confrontation.
