I wouldn't expect Roberto de Zerbi or his Brighton side to change the way that they approach the game just because they are going away to Man City.

They will go out there and play as much as they can and as well as they know that they can. They will go out to play the same way they do every single week. There won't be any fear.

    Brentford v Burnley (15:00 BST)

It's not been a great start to the season for either Brentford or Bournemouth.

The Bees have won just once in the league this campaign (D4 L3), and are currently winless in six league games (D3 L3), last going on a longer losing run between January and February in 2022 (8 games).

As for Burnley, they've lost six of their eight Premier League games this season (W1 D1); their most defeats from their opening nine matches of any league campaign is seven, doing so in 1888-89 (top-flight), 1904-05 (second tier), and 1977-78 (second tier).

  3. 'Atmosphere louder than I expected'published at 14:40 British Summer Time 21 October 2023

    FT: Liverpool 2-0 Everton

    Liverpool

Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai, speaking to TNT Sports, on the feeling of winning his first Merseyside derby: "It feels really good, playing at Anfield is something special and playing against Everton is a derby. It feels nice.

"I expected it would be a good atmosphere but not that loud. I have played in a lot of stadiums but this is one of the best.

"Trent was one of the players who spoke about the atmosphere - I asked how it will be. All the staff said it would be really good.

"I know how it feels to play with 10 men and know how Everton felt, but we had to be focused.

"It is the perfect start to the weekend."

  4. 'Go and get tested'published at 14:39 British Summer Time 21 October 2023

Man City v Brighton (15:00 BST)

Former Manchester City and Brighton boss Brian Horton has urged people to get tested after revealing he has been diagnosed with prostate cancer.

"It's just about getting the word out to get tested, no matter how old you are. I'm saying to my younger ones they should get tested," said Horton, 74, who managed City between 1993-95 and Brighton between 1998-99.

"If you haven't got it, fine, if you have got it then it can spread through your body, that's why they want to catch it early enough.

"If anyone wants to lean on me who's out there and they want to get in touch or find out more about it, then I'm willing to do whatever I can.

"The message is basically to go and get tested."

  5. 'Plenty of positives for Everton'published at 14:38 British Summer Time 21 October 2023

    FT: Liverpool 2-0 Everton

    James McFadden
Former Scotland midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

    Everton played reasonably well.

Defended resolutely, had chances on the break, and made it difficult for Liverpool.

The red card changes the game in a way, from the point of view of being down a player, and then the decision not to send off Konate also potentially influences the outcome of the game too.

Even down to ten Everton didn't allow Liverpool to create too many clear chances, the second comes from a breakaway with them chasing the game.

Plenty of positives to take for Everton.

  6. The O'Neil derby?published at 14:37 British Summer Time 21 October 2023

    Bournemouth v Wolves (15:00 BST)

Gary O'Neil - in Wolves and Bournemouth tracksuitsImage source, PA Media/Getty Images

Gary O'Neil is the name on everybody's lips here as he returns to Dorset with his new side Wolves.

Fourteen months ago, O'Neil was a couple of years into his coaching career, and would not have expected to be in his second Premier League managerial post by now.

O'Neil insisted in the build-up it was "zero per cent about me" returning to Bournemouth, preferring to talk about his own side - who he said were "probably in the toughest weekend I’ve had in terms of squad position".

But it would not be human nature if he did not relish the chance to put one over on the club who sacked him in June. O'Neil picked up four points from six against Wolves with Bournemouth last season - and given their league position, a smash-and-grab in the manner of the Cherries' 1-0 win at Molineux in February when they scored with their only shot on target, would do nicely for the visitors.

After yesterday's storms, today it's a beautiful day in Manchester.

I got to the ground nice and early and there were already plenty of people milling around getting a bit of scran in before kick off. (Toasties look particularly good, by the way.)

Construction work on City's new fan, entertainment and leisure facilities and an expanded North Stand are under way and that means it's a bit of a building site around the Etihad at the moment.

There's still plenty going on, though, with a band playing and activities for kids happening over at the Academy Stadium.

So Mo Salah has seven Premier League goals and is now one behind Erling Haaland. Will Haaland end his "drought" this afternoon after going back-to-back games without a top-flight goal?

  9. Postpublished at 14:34 British Summer Time 21 October 2023

    FT: Liverpool 2-0 Everton

Fist pumps from Jurgen Klopp towards the Kop. Sean Dyche is clearly frustrated.

Liverpool are top of the table for now but will Manchester City overtake them?

They take on Brighton next in one of five matches kicking off at 15:00 BST.

I'll hand things straight over to the rest of the team to talk you through those matches.

  10. 'Konate decision will be the talking point'published at 14:34 British Summer Time 21 October 2023

    FT: Liverpool 2-0 Everton

    Stephen Warnock
Former England and Liverpool defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

That non sending off for Konate will be the talking point from this game, Liverpool got lucky with that one.

Would it have changed the game? We don't know, it is all hypothetical.

These games can go either way, I think everyone was expecting a potential banana skin for Liverpool. Everton defended well and were unlucky with that decision in particular.

Liverpool were dominant in the game without creating too much, and with the penalty and that second goal came out on top in the end.

All over at Anfield. Liverpool win yet another Merseyside derby thanks to a double from Mohamed Salah.

There will be discussions all week over Ashley Young's sending off and Ibrahima Konate's sole booking.

    But Merseyside is red.

  12. 'Szoboszlai a great find for Liverpool'published at 14:29 British Summer Time 21 October 2023

    Liverpool 2-0 Everton

    Stephen Warnock
Former England and Liverpool defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

I think a lot of people were thinking that Alexis Mac Allister would be the man to hit the ground running in this Liverpool midfield, but Dominic Szoboszlai has been excellent.

I just love watching him play. He understands what is in and around him at any point of the game, he has that creativity and forward drive.

GOAL - Liverpool 2-0 Evertonpublished at 14:26 British Summer Time 21 October 2023

    Mohamed Salah (90+7 mins)

    Inevitable.

Everton push up searching for a goal, Liverpool win it back and Darwin Nunez breaks through the middle.

It's two-on-one and Nunez is unselfish, teeing up Mohamed Salah for a comfortable finish from close range.

He's got two in the Merseyside derby and Liverpool are heading to the top of the Premier League table.
