    Liverpool 0-0 Everton

    Stephen Warnock
Former England and Liverpool defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

Keane's arm is way out from his body. One thing I will say is that he doesn't move it towards the ball, it doesn't move.

Before Diaz has even crossed it, his arm is out. Does he then have to pull it back out of the way? I find these ones harsh.

  9. 'How do you get that wrong?'published at 14:01 British Summer Time 21 October 2023

    Liverpool 0-0 Everton

    Stephen Warnock
Former England and Liverpool defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

My big thing here is what is the assistant referee doing? What is the fourth official doing?

We keep getting told that they are a team of officials, then be a team! The only person who will be reprimanded for this is Craig Pawson, he will be the one lambasted for making a wrong decision.

You've got three people here that could have told him he'd gotten that wrong. Help each other out, tell them 'you've got it wrong there mate. It's a second yellow.'

Also the audacity then to book Sean Dyche for complaining, it's a stinker of a decision.

I could have a big bearing on this game. Everton could now be up against ten men and be going for the win again, it changes the momentum completely!

Strong penalty appeals from the Kop and it's gone to VAR. Nathan Patterson slides in on Luis Diaz, the Liverpool forward checks back and goes down. The check is over fairly quickly, nothing given.

Judith: Disgraceful refereeing not to send Konate off.

Paul: Konate should have been seeing a 2nd yellow there but nope this time the ref has let him off with it. Talk of lack of consistency in general but there isn’t even any in this game alone.

Beppe: And there it is. A clear second yellow for Konate. Disgraceful refereeing and yet again a massive lack of consistency.

    Liverpool 0-0 Everton

    James McFadden
Former Scotland midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

You have to praise Everton for this performance.

Once the red card came you felt as though it would only be a matter of time until Liverpool got a goal, but Everton have been really solid and compact at the back.

Beto has been introduced to add some energy and pace up top, maybe they are hoping to catch Liverpool on the break. Stay solid and hit back when they can.

It should be level, ten men each.

It is terrible from the referee, a really cynical challenge from Konate. Already on a yellow and tugs back Beto's shirt.

    A stinker of a decision.

Jurgen Klopp senses Liverpool may have escaped a red card. Joel Matip is getting ready to come on. Ibrahima Konate is being hooked.

Oooh this is a controversial decision.

Ibrahima Konate, who is already on a booking, clips the heels of Beto as Everton break.

He gets away without a second yellow card but if you're an Evertonian, you are surely furious with that?

    Liverpool 0-0 Everton

    Stephen Warnock
Former England and Liverpool defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

It is all Liverpool at the moment.

Again down that left hand side Tsimikas can't find the quality on the delivery to make a clear cut chance. Again it is that quality that is lacking.

Everton have really frustrated Liverpool. The game plan is working in this second half. They wanted to sit deep, be compact and make it hard for Liverpool, and it is working.
