You do not get bigger than Bobby Charlton, an association of 70 years to Manchester United with so much success and of course tragedy. The word legend is used too often nowadays, it should be kept for true legends like Sir Bobby... the players need to produce a performance tonight, not to qualify for next round, but to pay tribute to Sir Bobby.

There is currently no music playing at Old Trafford, which I assume is a mark of respect for Sir Bobby Charlton.

There is a lot of noise from the away contingent though.

There was also a rendition of 'One Bobby Charlton'.

Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag, on TNT sports before the game: "It is very emotional and lets find inspiration from it. We tried that against Sheffield United and tonight we have a home crowd, we want to do it again to fulfil Sir Bobby Charlton's legacy.

"His standards and what he achieved with his teams. Surviving the Munich disaster and then to comeback and win all the trophies, I think you cannot do it without the highest standards."

On tonight being a must win game: "At United you have to win every game, but yes if you see the group yes we have to win tonight."

Man Utd v FC Copenhagen (20:00 BST)

    • FC Copenhagen's first ever Champions League win was against Manchester United, a 1-0 home victory in November 2006. However, they've never won (D1 L3) or scored a goal (9 conceded) in four away games against English sides in the competition.
    • FC Copenhagen have not scored a goal in any of their last seven matches against English sides in European competition (D3 L4), with their last such goal coming against Manchester City in the Uefa Cup in February 2009 (a 2-1 defeat in the last 32 second leg).
    • This is the first time Manchester United have begun a European Cup or Champions League campaign with two defeats (v Bayern Munich and Galatasaray). They have lost their last three games in the competition, and have never lost four in a row.
    • FC Copenhagen have already dropped five points from winning positions in the Uefa Champions League this season, drawing against Galatasaray after scoring first and losing against Bayern Munich after opening the scoring. No team have dropped more points from winning positions in the competition this term.
    • Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has lost his last three matches in the Champions League (one with Ajax, two with Man Utd) – his longest losing run in the competition across the 34 games he’s taken charge of.
    • Rasmus Hojlund has scored in both of his Champions League appearances for Manchester United, netting three goals in the process. If he finds the net in this game, he will become the first player to score in his first three games for the Red Devils in the European Cup or Champions League since John Connelly in 1965 (3).

    Sevilla v Arsenal (20.00 BST)

    • Sevilla won their only previous home game against Arsenal, beating them 3-1 in the 2007-08 Champions League group stage.
    • Arsenal have won just three of their 17 away games against Spanish sides in all competitions (D3 L11).
    • Sevilla have only lost three of their 10 home matches against English sides in European competition (W5 D2), most recently a 3-0 victory against Manchester United in last season’s Europa League quarter-final second leg.
    • This will be just the second time that Mikel Arteta has managed a game played in his native Spain, with the previous one coming in Arsenal’s 2-1 defeat at Villarreal in April 2021 in the Europa League. He is winless in two games against Spanish sides while in charge of the Gunners (D1 L1 vs. Villarreal).
    • Gabriel Jesus has scored in both of Arsenal’s games in the Champions League this season (two goals), and could become just the second player to score in his first three games for the club in the competition, after Marouane Chamakh in 2010-11.

It's a really difficult one but it's also a really difficult one to now manage the situation because the other kid has done nothing wrong has he?

We're all looking and saying well he's had a wonderful season for them, there's no doubt it has brought on huge competition and he's obviously given it some real big thought because to manage that situation, it's going to be the most difficult thing for him because people are going to ask him that question.

Could having two top goalkeepers provide a huge benefit?

Speaking on Monday Night Club, former Premier League striker Chris Sutton said he sees merit in the in-house competition, stating: "I like that, why should goalkeepers be any different to outfield players?"

But former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson criticised Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta for not being honest about the goalkeeping situation.

Arteta had claimed that signing David Raya from Brentford would promote competition with Aaron Ramsdale, but the Spaniard has had a run of games in the team, which Robinson believes goes against Arteta's initial stance.

Rasmus Hojlund will welcome the return of the Champions League this week, given he has scored all three of his Manchester United goals in the opening two group games.

The Premier League is where the goals have dried up, not just for him, but for Erik ten Hag's side in general.

United are yet to win a league game by more than one goal this season, drawing unwanted attention on Ten Hag's new £72m striker.

At first glance, it doesn't make good reading while Erling Haaland dominates across the city. But the problem lies well beyond Hojlund.

The 20-year-old has had very little to go off since his arrival. He's yet to score in the Premier League, sure, but his 1.3 xG (1.3 expected goals) emphasises that his drought isn't down to missing good chances.

Ten Hag's creative players... haven't been creating. Mix that with a porous, injury-stricken defence and what do you get? A disappointing start. That's what.

Only Bruno Fernandes (two) has more than a single league assist this term. That's not good enough.

If Ten Hag wants an upturn of results, the key lies within United's new attack learning the 'routines' he so often eludes to.

Match of the Day pundit Alan Shearer believes Manchester United's strikers need to become more involved if the team wish to compete in the Premier League this season.

Data displayed on MOTD showed Marcus Rashford, Rasmus Hojlund and Anthony Martial have contributed one goal in a combined 1,398 minutes.

He said: "If they want to get in and around that top four then one thing has to change and the forwards have to chip in more with goals. They certainly created the chances against Sheffield United, and they should’ve put the ball in the back of the net more than they did.

"Rashford, Hojlund, Antony, Garnacho, Martial, you’ve got to ask for more and you’ve got to demand more when you’re getting into these positions and working the ball, passing.

"They are getting into positions and they are creating the chances, so I suppose the time to worry is when you’re not doing that at all.

"I mean Scott McTominay is their top scorer and he's only started three league games and scored three goals. The demand to put the ball in the back of the net from the strikers that has to improve."

Rasmus Hojlund's 18-year-old younger brother Oscar Hojlund is on the bench for FC Copenhagen tonight.

Hojlund made a very brief appearance as a substitute on Matchday One as Copenhagen claimed a creditable draw with Galatasaray.

Tonight's game at Old Trafford will see Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund face his younger twin brothers and former club.

The Denmark international, who joined Manchester United from Serie A side Atalanta in the summer for £72m, has scored three goals for the Red Devils - in the Champions League defeats to Bayern Munich and Galatasaray.

He has enjoyed a rapid rise since leaving FC Copenhagen in January last year, having a spell at Sturm Graz before moving to Atalanta.

His 18-year-old twin brothers, Emil and Oscar, are on the books at FC Copenhagen, with the latter expected to be in the squad to travel to Old Trafford.

"You know it's a special game for him," Ten Hag said of Rasmus.

"He grew up at the club and you know he will be highly motivated. It's for me, for the team but especially of course for him to use that in the right direction, the right balance."

Alex Stepney was speaking to my BBC colleague Katie Gornall outside Old Trafford earlier about his Manchester United European Cup-winning team-mate Sir Bobby Charlton.

That triumph over Benfica at Wembley in 1968 came a decade after so many of Charlton's team-mates and close friends lost their lives in the Munich air crash.

"You could tell winning the European Cup was his biggest wish - and it came true," said Stepney.

"That is what he wanted more than anything. For those lads, his mates. It wasn't something he ever spoke about, but you just knew."

    Sevilla v Arsenal (20.00 BST)

Oli Price-Bates, The Fresh Arsenal podcast, external

Mikel Arteta’s mixed record for Arsenal in European competitions will face another challenge in Seville tonight. After slipping up against Lens, Arsenal cannot afford more mistakes and Arteta is likely to pick his strongest team. But what is that?

There’s plenty of places still up for grabs in this side. Whether that’s between the sticks, where a returning Aaron Ramsdale will fancy his chances of reintegration, at left-back, where Oleksandr Zinchenko is battling Takehiro Tomiyasu, or in midfield and attack where Leandro Trossard, Kai Havertz and Thomas Partey will be hoping to come back into the side, after good performances off the bench.

Arteta has the tools to make different tactical decisions with his line-ups and it's critical he makes the right choice tonight in Spain to silence those who doubt his tactical showings to date in Europe.

I would be tempted to get Trossard, Havertz and Partey into the team. All three have made big impacts in recent games when introduced from the bench, and they should be fresher than some of their team-mates.

Braga v Real Madrid (20.00 BST)

Away from Premier League interests tonight, 14-time champions Real Madrid visit Braga - whose ownership situation is causing a stir.

Last year Qatar Sports Investments, owners of PSG, bought a minority stake in Braga. Earlier this month, they upped their share to nearly 30%.

So what are QSI's plans for Braga? Could the Portuguese club provide a get-out clause as the Paris project goes sour? Could they be the next European superpower?

BBC Sport's Emma Smith (yes, I am promoting my own work) spoke to Portuguese football experts to get the lowdown on what's going on at the Quarry. You can read the feature here.

Erik ten Hag expects a special atmosphere on Tuesday as Manchester United play for the first time at Old Trafford since the death of Sir Bobby Charlton.

Before Ten Hag's pre-match press conference, a minute's silence was held at Carrington to honour the 1966 World Cup hero.

When asked if beating FC Copenhagen would be the perfect tribute to Charlton, Ten Hag said: "Definitely. Firstly we want to win and pay tribute to Sir Bobby Charlton; you always want to do that in a certain way and that is what we are aiming for.

"I was happy Saturday that we could show a tribute with a win but also the way we scored that second goal.

"It's always special at Old Trafford – every match. The fans are always behind us.

"Remember the last game, the home game against Brentford: even when the game is not going in our direction, they stayed behind us. In difficult moments, moments of adversity around Manchester United, the fans are still with us and we are with the fans. We are fighting together.

"Definitely tomorrow after the passing of Sir Bobby Charlton, their hero, the legend, the giant, I’m sure they will be even more emotional, I expect."
