Man Utd fan at the game tonight. I do think we'll win tonight, but I can't say I'm confident making that prediction. Maybe the emotions of the occasion will push us on; maybe Sir Bobby will sprinkle down some inspiration. United are disjointed and clunky, in large part due to injuries and unrest, but we should be despatching of sides like Copenhagen regardless. 3-1 let's say...

Tonight we'll also be bringing you the occasional update from Portugal where Sporting Braga are hosting record 14-time winners Real Madrid.

Madrid are heavy favourites, in fact they haven't lost to a Portuguese side in the Champions League since falling to a 2-1 defeat to Porto way back in October 1999.

We can also tell you that Jude Bellingham starts for Los Blancos. The English midfielder scored in his first two UCL matches for the Spanish club.

He could match Christian Karembeu's record tonight as the only player to score in his first three appearances for Real in the Champions League. The ex-Middlesbrough man did so in the 1997-98 campaign.

  5. Can Arsenal recover from Lens loss?published at 19:16 British Summer Time 24 October 2023

    Sevilla v Arsenal (20.00 BST)

While eyes are on Manchester United following their inauspicious start to their Champions League campaign, Arsenal cannot afford many more slip-ups themselves.

The Gunners were beaten 2-1 away to Lens three weeks ago, and will fall out of the top two should they suffer defeat in Spain tonight.

Sevilla may be more at home in the Europa League, but a visit to Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan is never easy - as United discovered last season.

The La Liga side - top seeds in Group B after winning the Europa League last season - have drawn both their Champions League fixtures so far.

  9. Raya keeps his placepublished at 19:05 British Summer Time 24 October 2023

    Sevilla v Arsenal (20.00 BST)

So, David Raya remains in goal for Arsenal tonight at Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.

Raya has been preferred to last season's first-choice goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale in recent weeks.

However the Spaniard was at fault for Mykhailo Mudryk's goal in Saturday's 2-2 draw at Chelsea.

Asked if Raya is suffering with the increased attention following his move from Brentford, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta said: "I haven't seen that at all.

"That's the pressure of playing in big clubs, where you have to win and you have to be at your best, and you have someone next to you who is pushing you every single day.

"That's the debate. That's the beauty of the game as well. The fact that you have other options as well is going to make that talk more frequent."

Ramsdale was missing from the Arsenal squad for the match against Chelsea at the weekend following the birth of his son.

However, the England goalkeeper has travelled to Spain with his team-mates and is on the bench.

Youssef En-Nesyri, who went off with a knock late on in the 1-1 draw with Real Madrid at the weekend, starts for Sevilla.

Former Tottenham winger Erik Lamela is on the bench for the hosts.

Sevilla XI: Nyland; Jesús Navas, Ramos, Gudelj; Acuña; Sow, Soumaré, Rakitić; Lukebakio, En-Nesyri, Ocampos.

Subs: Dmitrovic, Gattoni, Pedrosa, Suso, Jordan, Mir, Mariano, Kouassi, Lamela, Torres, Bade, Sanchez.

There's just one change for Arsenal from the side that drew with Chelsea in the Premier League at the weekend.

Takehiro Tomiyasu comes in for Oleksandr Zinchenko, while David Raya retains his place in goal.

Thomas Partey is not in the Gunners' squad.

It has been three days since Sir Bobby Charlton passed away at the age of 86.

He won 106 caps for England and scored 49 international goals - records for his country at the time.

During a 17-year first-team career with Manchester United he won three league titles, a European Cup and an FA Cup.

Few players have been as synonymous with one club as Charlton with United.

Following the news of his death, United said in a statement: "Sir Bobby was a hero to millions, not just in Manchester, or the United Kingdom, but wherever football is played around the world," the club said.

"He was admired as much for his sportsmanship and integrity as he was for his outstanding qualities as a footballer; Sir Bobby will always be remembered as a giant of the game.

"His unparalleled record of achievement, character and service will be forever etched in the history of Manchester United and English football and his legacy will live on through the life-changing work of the Sir Bobby Charlton Foundation.

"The club's heartfelt sympathies are with his wife Lady Norma, his daughters and grandchildren, and all who loved him."

    Bill KenwrightImage source, Getty Images

It has been a sad few days for the football community in this country, with Sir Bobby Charlton's death followed today by the passing of Everton chairman Bill Kenwright.

Kenwright had surgery to remove a cancerous tumour from his liver eight weeks ago.

He had been on the board at Everton since 1989, taking over as chairman at Goodison Park in 2004.

The Liverpudlian was also one of the UK's most successful theatre producers and played Gordon Clegg in Coronation Street between 1968 and 2012.

Kenwright was awarded a CBE for his services to film and theatre in the 2001 New Years Honours List.

Everton said it was "in mourning" following the death of the club's longest-serving chairman for more than a century.

"The club has lost a chairman, a leader, a friend, and an inspiration," Everton added.

There have been times this season when Harry Maguire has been left on the bench as Victor Lindelof has partnered Raphael Varane in the centre of Manchester United's defence.

Tonight, Maguire is retained as Lindelof drops out.

After an impressive performance at Sheffield United on Sunday, this seems like a significant show of faith in Maguire by manager Erik ten Hag.

Jonny Evans is also on the bench as Sergio Reguilon also returns.

See... lots of work for Manchester United to do. Two games played, zero points on the board. They simply have to win tonight. Otherwise, they're probably not going to make it through, or worse... drop into the Europa League!

Arsenal are sitting just fine at the moment. They'll want a draw tonight minimum, though, or things start to get a bit more tricky.

Manchester United's home game with FC Copenhagen is one of eight Champions League ties tonight and one of two featuring English sides.

The other sees Arsenal travel to Spanish side Sevilla.

Of the two, it is fair to say that United have the most work to do in the competition!

It is sure to be an emotional night for everyone associated with Manchester United.

The club will pay tribute to Sir Bobby, which will include players wearing black armbands and a minute's silence.

"He is a huge inspiration for us every day." said United boss Erik ten Hag.

"He is in front of Old Trafford, with Denis Law and George Best [in the statue]. He is always with us. I am sure it will be even more a very emotional evening."

Fifty-five years ago, Bobby Charlton was front and centre as Manchester United enjoyed arguably their finest ever night in European football competition.

His two goals, in a 4-1 win against Benfica at Wembley, gave United an historic first European Cup. But more than that...

There was a poignancy to it coming a decade on from the Munich air disaster in the aftermath of a European Cup win over Red Star Belgrade, which killed 23 people, including eight players and three members of the club's staff.

Tonight, prior to another European tie, Old Trafford will join as one to honour not only one of the greatest players to don their shirt and England's but one of the finest to ever lace up a pair of boots.
