Remarkably, the 201-mile trip to The Hawthorns is one of Plymouth's closest away trips of the season!

So fair play to the 2,000 or so Pilgrims who have made it to the West Midlands.

The bad news is there are no trains running back to the west country and no bus replacement services due to the bad weather, so the team had better produce something good to make fans forget about any travel worries.

Wow. That is some Championship line-up. Coady, Iheanacho, Daka and Souttar on the bench.

Easy to see why the Foxes currently top the division. It must be one of the strongest squads we've seen at this level for a long, long time.

Swansea will have to perform well this afternoon as Leicester chase a sixth away win out of six.

Notts County, who lost top spot last weekend with a heavy home defeat by rivals Mansfield Town, travel to Gillingham this afternoon.

Notts will hope to get back to winning ways against the Gills, who remain under the caretaker charge of Keith Millen.

Stockport County are now top and they will seek an eighth straight win with struggling Grimsby Town the visitors to Edgeley Park

Game of the day is at Valley Parade where Bradford City welcome Wrexham. As is the way, Bradford have won both games since Mark Hughes was sacked and Kevin McDonald could go a long way towards securing a permanent role with three points this afternoon.

Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson has enjoyed Hollywood backing in North Wales, but previously his Hollywood heroics came in taking fourth-tier Bradford to the League Cup final in 2013.

He left the club in 2016, but make only his second return as a rival manager where he will surely receive a warm reception.

Elsewhere, Mike Williamson takes charge of MK Dons for the first time as they travel to Accrington Stanley, Barrow welcome AFC Wimbledon, Crawley Town play Crewe Alexandra, Colchester United entertain Harrogate Town, Salford City go head-to-head against Swindon Town and bottom club Sutton United face Morecambe.

    Portsmouth v Carlisle (15:00 BST)

    Sanny Rudravajhala
    BBC Final Score

It’s filling up at Fratton Park as 23-unbeaten Portsmouth continue to show their Championship credentials at the top of the third tier.

Colby Bishop’s success has been well earned. He has eight goals this season and the man who took up a job as Head of PE at Bilsthorpe Flying High Academy during his non-league days with Leamington is soaring towards the top of the scoring charts.

Carlisle’s supporters have had a long, long journey and have had more than enough time to sample the very tasty sausage rolls and chicken fajita pies on offer. That may the only positive for Paul Simpson’s young side as they continue to battle towards the bottom of the division.

The Cumbrians haven’t won here since 1984. All eyes on the home side for all three points on the south coast.

  11. League One previewpublished at 14:50 British Summer Time 21 October 2023

    #bbcefl

It's a full house in League One with all 24 teams in action. Leaders Portsmouth, the only unbeaten team in the division, will be confident of a sixth straight league win against Carlisle United, only just above the relegation zone.

But any slip-up from Pompey and Oxford United will hope to take advantage from their home game with Blackpool.

There is a reunion for two of Wigan Athletic's 2013 FA Cup heroes as Shaun Maloney takes the Latics to Gary Caldwell's Exeter City. Both teams have lost their last four games, so friendship will have to be put to one side as they both try to end those poor runs.

Bottom side Cheltenham Town broke their goalscoring duck last time out. Now can they grab a first win with Cambridge United the visitors.

Derby County were the team to let Cheltenham score in a 1-1 draw and after some strong words from manager Paul Warne, they will aim to respond in their visit to Shrewsbury Town.

In other games, Fleetwood Town face managerless Lincoln City, in-form Burton Albion welcome Bristol Rovers, Charlton Athletic play Reading, Leyton Orient are at home to Barnsley in third, Peterborough United entertain Wycombe Wanderers and Bolton Wanderers have Northampton Town as visitors.

Beautiful bright day in Swansea after heavy rain overnight

There will be a moment of silence ahead of the match to remember those who lost their lives in the Aberfan disaster.

The catastrophic collapse of a colliery spoil tip on 21 October 1966 killed 116 children, 28 adults, as it engulfed Pantglas Junior School and a row of houses.

It is known as one of the worst mining disasters in the UK.

  13. Elsewhere in the Championship...published at 14:45 British Summer Time 21 October 2023

Huddersfield boss Darren Moore has overseen three draws and a defeat in his four games in charge since replacing Neil Warnock last month.

He'll be hopeful of getting that first victory as Town boss today against a struggling QPR side who were beaten 4-0 at home by Blackburn before the international break.

At Ashton Gate, Bristol City host Coventry with both teams level on points and just a win outside the Championship playoff spots.

Bristol City have been unpredictable so far this season and have only won two of their last five league matches.

Their opponents Coventry entered the international break on a superb run of four games unbeaten.

Elsewhere,Stoke are struggling at the wrong end of the Championship table and have only one league win from their last eight games.

Sunderland needed the international break to reset after a 4-0 drubbing versus Middlesbrough last time out.

The Potters can move away from the danger zone with a win. Equally, the Black Cats could jump up to third if they claim three points.

  15. Rookie Rohl looks to give Owls lift offpublished at 14:41 British Summer Time 21 October 2023

Watford v Sheff Wed (15:00 BST)

There's no nice way to put this, Sheffield Wednesday have had a terrible start to the season.

Eleven games in they are yet to win in the league and have amassed just three points.

Rookie boss Danny Rohl has arrived with an impressive CV to try and salvage something from Xisco Munoz's wretched three-month spell as Owls boss.

The Spaniard was appointed by Wednesday in part because of his success during his spell with today's opponents Watford.

Munoz led the Hornets to the Premier League in 2020-21, a far cry from where they start today's game.

Valerien Ismael's men are winless in five and are just two points above the relegation zone.

  16. Evenly matched sides looking to gain Championship edgepublished at 14:38 British Summer Time 21 October 2023

    Hull v Southampton (15:00 BST)

Hull City have won just one of their last five Championship games and are level on points with todays opponents Southampton.

But the ninth place Tiger's are on a decent unbeaten run at the MKM Stadium and they'll be hoping that Storm Babet doesn't send their home record of five games without loss, into a tailspin.

Meanwhile Southampton will be hoping that their return to football after the international break is better than the last.

A 5-0 defeat away at Sunderland last month was followed by three straight losses before steadying the ship, unbeaten in the next three.

Saints' Carlos Alcaraz received his first Argentina call up and trained with Lionel Messi over the break so we’ll see if it can inspire him and his teammates to victory.

  17. Immediate Reds' reunion on Rooney's returnpublished at 14:35 British Summer Time 21 October 2023

    Middlesbrough v Birmingham (15:00 BST)

Michael Carrick and Wayne Rooney together as Manchester United playersImage source, Rex Features

As Wayne Rooney gets ready for his first match in the dugout with Birmingham City, a quick glance at the opposing bench will see a very familiar face.

Rooney and Michael Carrick were Manchester United team-mates for 11 years, collecting 11 major trophies between them.

Now it's a new chapter as managers. Carrick celebrates his one-year anniversary in charge of Middlesbrough this Tuesday and generally, Boro have been upwardly mobile on his watch.

Fourth last season before losing to Coventry in the play-offs, they have taken 13 points from the last 15 after a poor start and they will expect to challenge again for the top six.

That must be the ambition for Blues with Rooney parachuted in to replace John Eustace.

By the simple act of bringing in the former United and England captain, the club's American owners have made it clear they don't want to stick around in the Championship too much longer.

Leeds boss Daniel FarkeImage source, PA Media

The first time you see your ex after the break-up is always an interesting one.

Do you still pine for them, or are you glad it’s all over?

That’s how some Norwich City fans will see today’s return of Daniel Farke, who brings a Leeds United side that that has only lost twice this campaign.

Norwich’s form has been tepid this season - certainly getting colder as the temperature has dropped this autumn.

Will it be a frosty reception for Farke, or will Wagner be feeling the chills by 4.55?

  19. Farke returns to Norwichpublished at 14:33 British Summer Time 21 October 2023

    Norwich v Leeds (15:00 BST)

Daniel Farke led Norwich to two Championship titles in his four years in charge at Carrow Road.

He's intent on making it three promotions to the Premier League this season and his Leeds side are going along nicely in fifth place.

After such a successful period with the Canaries he must be feeling emotional about returning to Norfolk for the first time as an opposition manager? Well, no, not really.

"I haven't thought too much about it. You prepare for a normal game. It's a while since I was there," he said earlier in the week.

    That's that then.

David Wagner's men made a good start to the campaign and are only two points behind Leeds but have won just one of their past five league games.

  20. Improving Swans set to test Foxes' promotion credentialspublished at 14:31 British Summer Time 21 October 2023

    Swansea v Leicester (15:00 BST)

Kelechi Iheanacho celebrates scoring for Leicester against Stoke on 7 OctoberImage source, Rex Features

Storm Babet denied Ipswich Town the chance to go top of the Championship last night, so Leicester City remain top of the pile.

The Foxes were perfect in the last month of football in between international breaks with six straight league wins.

They already have a 10-point cushion over third and are starting to flex their muscles under the tutelage of Enzo Maresca.

It's five out of five on the road so far, with 13 scored and only three conceded.

That will be tested by an improving Swansea City side, who have won four on the spin after a poor start under Michael Duff.

Can the Swans find some chinks in the Foxes' armour or will Leicester pick up where they left off on their early-season promotion charge?
