Really weak overturn, wasn't a clear and obvious error, reminded me of Odegaard on Eriksen which wiped out a perfectly good Martinelli goal last season.

3 mins to overturn a penalty and yellow card for a foul I saw in real time. Not VAR, it's the officials.. JOKE

Tails are up here for Palace. Simply doing the basics, they're winning the tackles, winning the duels, challenges and playing forward.

They're really posing a problem just by being confident and doing the basics really well.

Palace have won just one of their past eight games but lots for Roy Hodgson to be encouraged about in this game. He'll be unhappy the penalty was overturned but his side have gone toe-to-toe with the title challengers.

Whether that was a foul or not will obviously be debated. But surely Endo has to be stronger and protect the ball there.

  5. YELLOW CARDpublished at 13:08 Greenwich Mean Time 9 December 2023

    Crystal Palace 0-0 Liverpool

First yellow of the game and Joel Ward takes one for the team as the Palace captain cynically hauls down Luis Díaz who is threatening to get away.

Liverpool haven't got going. They've had loads of possession but they are yet to seriously test Sam Johnstone.

More confusion in the visitors defence as Alisson comes to claim the ball but Virgil van Dijk gets in the way.

The way Hughes clatters into the back of Endo, it had to be a foul. If that was a defender on a striker in the box that's absolutely being given as a pen.

It is [a foul] as I look at it in slow motion. At match pace it looked like a good turnover of the ball.

That was a worrying few minutes for the visitors. Liverpool would be behind but for that Alisson save.

Virgil van Dijk on Odsonne Edouard.

But hang on...was there a foul by Will Hughes in the build-up?

Oh my! How did that stay out?

Outstanding by Alisson on his return as the Brazilian somehow keeps out Jefferson Lerma's attempt. The ball rebounds off the post before being hacked clear.

    Let off for Liverpool.

Still we await the first shot on target. Liverpool are happy to play it around but they're struggling to carve out chances. After last Sunday's goal-rush, this hasn't been a great advert for the Premier League.

All the Palace fans going on about Roy dropping Olise to the bench need to remember he was out for 4 months, can't rush him back or do you want him to be out for longer?

    Steve, Oxford

Dean, Thornton Heath (12:41) seems to forget that under Vieira, Palace took 4 points off of Man City and Arsenal, beat a pre Conte Spurs and signed the likes of Olise, Guehi and Andersen, as well as getting us playing attacking football? After that? He wasn't backed at all. Roy's same old same old tactics aren't cutting it anymore.

Diaz is drifting off the left side allowing Tsimikas to get forward and provide that width and in Alexander-Arnold they have got someone who can hit that 60-yard diagonal effortlessly.

One word of caution for Liverpool, Endo has been caught twice in possession in the middle of the park, just to be careful of that.
