Aaron Wan-Bissaka receives a pass from Bruno Fernandes inside the Forest penalty area but he's quickly surrounded by red shirts.

This is more promising for United, with Forest boxed in for the time being.

Forest’s players are applauding every ball and every lost cause chased. It’s great to see them playing for each other.

Jonny Evans wins a free-kick for his side and takes his time restarting.

When he does, Forest are quickly on to his pass back to Andre Onana, and they are rewarded with their pressing by quickly regaining possession in the United half.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka was nowhere to be seen there and Forest will certainly be looking to take advantage of the spaces they're finding on that side of the pitch, with Ola Aina and Anthony Elanga both looking lively so far.

If you look at what Rashford achieved last year and what Manchester United achieved last season, he was unbelievable.

But the team are struggling now too.

I saw him against Australia in an England shirt earlier this year too and thought he would kick on and get back to his best, but he just hasn't.

Ola Aina is the latest Forest player to find joy on United's right, the space opening up for him with one direct pass.

Aina's ball is decent enough, but there's nobody lingering at the back post to capitalise.

Clearly Andre Onana has improved in recent weeks but there does seem to be a communication issue between the Manchester United keeper and his defenders.

A clear call there and Raphael Varane would have pulled out of the way to leave Onana with an easy claim.

Instead, the Frenchman stuck out a leg, almost with calamitous results.

We still don't know whether Onana will be available for the FA Cup third round tie at Wigan on 8 January before his African Cup of Nations commitments with Cameroon.

It would seem like the perfect opportunity to give Turkey international Altay Baynindir his debut.

A better spell of possession for United, who retain the ball in the Forest third, but it all fizzles out before anything can really happen.

Still no attempts - on or off target - by the slow-starting visitors.

It almost cost them on Boxing Day, before a remarkable late fightback. Can Forest punish them here? They've looked the much more threatening team.

No competition for places has had a huge influence United performances this season in my opinion. Some players know they will get a game no matter how poorly they played the week before as there is no depth in this United squad at all.

Bruno Fernandes with a chance to whip in a cross, but Ola Aina reads it and Forest continue to look fairly comfortable.

    Almost an own-goal!

Former Manchester United player Anthony Elanga breaks down the left and there's a complete lack of communication between Raphael Varane and Andre Onana in the box.

The United defender sticks out a leg to meet the cross and deflects the ball across his own goal - but thankfully for his side it rolls wide.

Forest the club who sacked their overachieving manager vs Man Utd the club who stuck with their underachieving one. I'm sure at least one of these managers will still be there at the end of the season.

Morgan Gibbs-White strolls over to the corner flag to great applause from the Forest supporters.

Can he cause some problems for United here? The ball drops to Danilo, but he can't trouble Andre Onana.

He is full of confidence, Chris Wood. It is becoming quite apparent that Forest are playing a 4-3-3.

Wood receives the ball and it doesn't matter if it was on his weaker side, he wanted to have a go.

Over 60% possession for Forest so far. It's been a confident start by Nuno Espirito Santo's side, who have made double the amount of passes (24) in their opponent's half compared to United (12).

Erik ten Hag's side are yet to get going.

That nervous Matt Turner moment aside, Forest are looking calm and composed in possession.

The hosts build patiently from the back and it leads to Chris Wood trying his luck from the edge of the penalty area, but Andre Onana is able to watch his shot fly over the bar.

Really good closing down by Bruno Fernandes. Sets the example for his team-mates.

That is the perfect example of a goalkeeper trying to overplay. He should have just kicked it clear.

The visitors can't make much of their first corner.

Manchester United are actually winless in their last five Premier League games that have kicked off at 17:30. Can they break that curse? It's been a pretty even start here.
