Turf Moor is one of the rare grounds where managers have to walk across the pitch to get from the dressing rooms to the dug-outs.

Rival bosses Vincent Kompany and David Moyes strode out together and were having a good chat as they went.

  5. 'Chelsea will become a serious team'published at 14:57 Greenwich Mean Time 25 November 2023

    Newcastle v Chelsea (15:00 GMT)

    Paul Robinson
Former Tottenham and England goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live

Chelsea are a work in progress. When we talk about transition, if you look at the age of the players in their squad, they've got the perfect manager.

They aren't where they want to be right now but in 12-18 months they will be a serious team and back in the top four without a doubt.

The age of the squad is frightening.

    Newcastle v Chelsea (15:00 GMT)

    Chris Waddle
Ex-Newcastle winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

Newcastle have so many injuries and have players on the bench who are young. It is a good opportunity for Chelsea who are playing with a lot of confidence at the moment.

Burnley need to find a way of getting points, need to find a way of beating opponents. Bournemouth, Burnley, and Sheffield United in the bottom three all need points. That's it.

    Newcastle v Chelsea (15:00 GMT)

    Glenn Murray
Former Brighton striker on Football Focus

Chelsea have turned a corner. It looks like they've bonded as a groip over the past two games and got a little bit of confidence.

They went toe-to-toe with Manchester City at their best and they held them.

Chelsea are alright when teams come out and play against them and there's a little bit of space in behind.

Newcastle will have to come out and play at St James' Park so I think Chelsea will fare alright.

  9. 'If we'd played well, we could have won'published at 14:53 Greenwich Mean Time 25 November 2023

    FT: Man City 1-1 Liverpool

    Liverpool

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, speaking to Sky Sports: "It’s a really good moment. It’s a tough place to come – it’s no coincidence that they win that many home games. You’d need more time to prepare for the game properly, especially in these kind of circumstances.

"We’re still in a process. If we’d played really well today, we could have won – we didn’t. We played OK. We caused them problems as well, but our good moments didn’t feel that good to us [in the first half]. We had to stretch ourselves again [in the second half]. We adapted our positioning slightly. Unfortunately we lost Diogo [Jota], with Ali we’ll have to see.

"I told the boys at half-time, imagine what it would be like if we were playing well. We had to settle a little bit. Putting Trent in a different position defensively, plus Dom [Szoboszlai] and Mo [Salah] closing that gap in the second half gave us much more stability. From there we could play football ourselves.

"We had good moments. I wish we could have had more. For the moment we’re in, we should take the point as a success. I have nothing to complain about there.

"Trent made a difference today. Before we start talking about positioning, I think it helps us having him on the right wing from time to time."

On Luis Diaz's father being in the away end: "I’m happy for the whole family that everything is fine at the moment. They’re all here, it’s cool."

Burnley v West Ham (15:00 GMT)

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport at Turf Moor

Were it not for Everton's 10-point deduction for FFP breaches, Burnley would be in a very difficult position just now.

Bottom of the Premier League, with four points from 12 games and the joint worst goal difference in the top flight, Burnley would now be five points from safety had Everton not been dragged right back into the mix.

But Clarets boss Vincent Kompany continues to look on the optimistic side.

Kompany is adamant his side's performances have been good and - in his programme notes - adds: "We continue to believe we will get the results."

  12. 'A tough week - I am fine with a point'published at 14:50 Greenwich Mean Time 25 November 2023

    FT: Man City 1-1 Liverpool

    Liverpool

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp speaking to Match of the Day: "If we had played really well, we could have won. This is a really tough place to come and it is a not a coincidence they have won I don't know how many in a row at home. They are a super team.

"When we had our football moments, we immediately created [chances]. Did we do that often enough? No. Can we play better? Definitely. And we will. But for today, this was a super important experience for the group.

"It has been a tough week for the boys and then coming here to play a game against a team that really makes you suffer is not cool. It is difficult to stay in the game, but we had our moments and I like that a lot.

"It is a good point and I am absolutely fine with it."

Sheffield United v Bournemouth (15:00 GMT)

Paul Heckingbottom's side have taken four points from their last two league matches, as many as in their previous 12 top-flight fixtures.

The Blades begin this match in 18th place; their past eight top-flight wins came when starting the day bottom of the table.

Bournemouth have taken just one point from a possible 15 on their travels this season, conceding a league-high 17 away goals.

They are in danger of becoming the fourth side to concede two or more goals in four of their first six away matches in a Premier League season, and the first since Burnley in 2009.

Andoni Iraola's side have dropped 11 points from winning positions this term, a joint league high with Brentford and Burnley.

Nottingham Forest have registered just one win from their past eight Premier League matches, drawing four and losing three.

However, they are unbeaten at home in the Premier League this season, with two wins and three draws.

Brighton have gone six league games without a win, drawing four and losing two.

Roberto De Zerbi's side could set a Premier League record of scoring and conceding in 17 straight matches, having equalled Everton's run of 16 consecutive games last time out.

  15. 'A point is obviously not bad'published at 14:47 Greenwich Mean Time 25 November 2023

    FT: Man City 1-1 Liverpool

    Liverpool

Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk speaking to Match of the Day: "The second half was much better than the first half. Obviously we knew we would suffer at times and that is something you have to expect. You have to fight as a team.

"To come away with a point here is obviously not bad. We wanted to win but we didn’t lose, which sounds a bit cliche. There are a lot of things we have to improve and we’ll keep working on it.

"We need to improve in all areas - it's pretty simple. I don't think there is a perfect team in the world but we want to be as good as possible. We will work on this and it is a long season. We were much better than last season."

On whether Ruben Dias' 'goal' should have been disallowed: "It's a foul. There is not mnuch to say about it. It's pretty clear can't foul the goalkeeper and that’s what happened."

  16. 'We're disappointed'published at 14:46 Greenwich Mean Time 25 November 2023

    FT: Man City 1-1 Liverpool

    Manchester City

Manchester City defender Nathan Ake, speaking to Sky Sports: "I think overall we played really well. It was a tough match – we knew it was going to be tough. We tried to keep the ball and be more calm than we were against Chelsea.

"Especially in this kind of game it’s [about] small margins. [For the first goal] we thought they were going to counter-attack and then we got the goal. In the second half it was the same - we had a chance with Erling and then they scored.

"Always in the counter-attack it’s difficult [against Liverpool]. Especially as defenders, we know Salah and Nunez are going to run at you. They have players like Trent who can put passes in the right areas, so it’s always difficult.

"We wanted to win. We had a lot of chances. We’re disappointed with only having one shot on target in the second half. In the end we’re a little disappointed."

Luton are looking for their first ever home win in the Premier League. Only someone with a cold, cold heart would begrudge them that.

    Or they're a Palace fan.

Luton have made their worst start to a season, winning just one of 12 league matches (D3, L8).

They are still waiting for their first home win in the Premier League, having earned two points from the 15 available so far.

They are also yet to keep a clean sheet in the Premier League.

Crystal Palace have lost three of their past four Premier League games.

However, they have won three of their six away matches in this season's top flight.

Only Tottenham and Manchester City have earned more away points than Palace's tally of 10 in 2023-24.

    Liverpool

Trent Alexander-Arnold celebrating.Image source, Getty Images

Liverpool goalscorer Trent Alexander-Arnold, speaking to Sky Sports: "It’s definitely better than last year. We haven’t had too many good results here in general. It’s a point gained. It wasn’t an amazing performance from us at all, but we take the point. There were positives – we had chances to win the game.

"I don’t think we played particularly well. Their formation and the way they set up really challenged us. We regrouped at half-time and came out with a bit more of a game plan to press them. It’s difficult subconsciously when you play against Man City – you can’t really get tight to them or stand off them.

"There was potentially a game plan to stop me from getting the ball in midfield. I think Bernardo [Silva] was very close to me when I was pulling inside. It was about getting on the ball in different ways and getting us up the pitch. We did that especially well in the second half."

"There’s been many times when we’ve played a lot better against Man City and lost the game. The point was something that we needed and instils that belief that even if we don’t play well, if you get a point it means you’re doing something right."

On his goal: "I got the ball from Darwin. I could sense that there were bodies and I tried to get it across goal. Thankfully it found the bottom corner and it’s one we needed. It was about getting over the line and getting that point."

Burnley v West Ham (15:00 GMT)

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport at Turf Moor

Danny Ings made his name at Burnley, scoring 38 Premier League goals for the Clarets before moving onto spells with Liverpool, Southampton and Aston Villa.

It is fair to say his time at West Ham has not worked out as the striker hoped.

Ings scored twice on his fifth appearance for the Hammers after joining the club in January - and has not scored in the Premier League since.

With teenage forward Divin Mubama on the bench, manager David Moyes has given Ings the first chance at filling the gap created by the absences of Michail Antonio and Jarrod Bowen.

    Ings needs to deliver.
