  1. 'This run is where Burnley will be judged'published at 14:39 Greenwich Mean Time 25 November 2023

Burnley v West Ham (15:00 GMT)

    Michael Brown
Former Manchester City midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

I did think Burnley would have a better return on points at this stage of the season.

The way that Vincent Kompany wants them to play, with the attractive style and wide players, and there was a big turnover of players, it takes time to go and adapt.

When you try and play in that way and you're getting beat in a lot of matches, and you keep getting mistakes and getting punished, it is even tougher to go and do it the next week.

They've got a nice run of fixtures now and that is where they will be judged.

Burnley are winless in their last four top-flight meetings with West Ham, drawing two and losing two.

Vincent Kompany's side could lose six consecutive top-flight matches for the first time in 128 years.

The hosts have lost 10 of their opening 12 league fixtures - no top-flight team has done that and managed to avoid relegation.

Meanwhile, West Ham have lost five of their past eight Premier League fixtures, drawing one and winning two.

However, they have won their past seven top-flight fixtures against promoted sides.

Jarrod Bowen has been directly involved in 11 goals in his last 13 Premier League starts, scoring nine and assisting two.

James Ward-Prowse has registered nine assists in all competitions this season, the most of any Premier League player.

Do you want the clearest indication possible of how stretched Newcastle's squad has been by their current injury crisis?

Eddie Howe has named THREE goalkeepers on the bench today - Martin Dubravka, Loris Karius and Mark Gillespie.

Wonder if any of them could do a job outfield?

I think Jurgen Klopp has done Pep Guardiola a favour there. I think that is frustration from Guardiola and fundamentally Liverpool are very happy with a point here.

    FT: Man City 1-1 Liverpool

So as it stands, Manchester City retain their lead at the top of the table by a point, with Liverpool hot on their heels.

It opens the door for Arsenal, who travel to Brentford this evening, knowing victory would take them top by a point.

Some reactions afterwards as Pep Guardiola and Darwin Nunez have a bit of a stand-off on the touchline.

Jurgen Klopp holds back his striker then goes to shake hands with Guardiola, having a hug and laughing it off.

Liverpool's players are definitely the happier of the two teams. They came from behind to salvage a point at the home of the champions.

It's floated into the box but Luis Diaz's header is a poor one. Easy for Ederson.

Doku has had a lot of the ball but I wouldn't have said he has had much end product.

Alisson plays two terrible clearances, gifting the ball to City both times in quick succession, and the pressure is piled on. City win a corner, then Alisson goes down clutching the back of his leg. Liverpool have no subs left!

Chelsea drew (should have won), Arsenal won, now Liverpool drawing with City. It’s certainly a below par, slow-burner season for City!
