Former England manager Steve McClaren, who brought Venables back into the England set-up as his assistant when appointed England manager in 2006, said: "Terry was a true gentleman and a coach always ahead of his time.

"Working with him for England was a pleasure and an education, and he helped me enormously to deal with the pressures around the job.

“His wit, smile and positive attitude will be sadly missed. RIP Terry.”

Once Douglas Luiz whips it in, I just don't like the marking and he gets a free run. Once he gets into there it's a great header. He missed an easier one earlier but that's a fantastic header. Great ball in from Luiz and a great header.

You will struggle to see a more entertaining 45 minutes. A goal apiece at the break. Tottenham, who had earlier hit the post through Dejan Kulusevski, scored through Giovani lo Celso's first goal of the season.

Ollie Watkins thought he had scored an instant equaliser, but VAR said no.

But Villa did make it 1-1 in the seventh added minute with Pau Torres heading in from Douglas Luiz's free-kick.

This could end up anything. One-one and hugely enjoyable.

Unai Emery might make a few changes [at half-time] just because Matty Cash is probably on his last warning with a yellow card and he might change that, put someone attacking on.

Pedro Porro is able to jog back on to the pitch, much to Ange Postecoglou's relief.

We're into six minutes of injury time at the end of the first half. As Pedro Porro needs treatment after a strong challenge from Boubacar Kamara, who made a genuine attempt to get the ball in a 50-50.

Spurs really don't need another injury.

It would have been a great goal, the football was magnificent to be fair and the finish is brilliant but he's offside.

Son Heung-min races on to a ball through, has the pace to stay clear of the Villa defenders and curls a lovely finish past Emiliano Martinez.

But the celebrations are instantly stopped by the assistant's flag for offside. An easy one for VAR to confirm as the South Korean had gone just a bit too early as he missed out on what would've been his ninth Premier League goal of the season.

Matty Cash is playing a risky game. He was booked for the foul on Rodrigo Bentancur, which saw the Uruguayan go off injured. And Cash has just given Destiny Udogie a shove.

No second yellow for Cash. However, team-mate John McGinn does then get a booking for a separate foul.

Aston Villa are getting played around and Tottenham have been outstanding in this first half.

Villa have to stay in the game until half-time and there will be a lot of added time.

Boubacar Kamara gets a yellow for Aston Villa, tripping up Giovani lo Celso when the goalscorer was looking to storm up field.

That's a costly yellow too for the Villa man as that's his fifth of the season, meaning he will now miss the away match at Bournemouth on Sunday, 3 December.

Dejan Kulusevski is proving a real handful for the Villa defence. He's already curled one shot against the upright and again has the skill to jink inside on to his left foot and send an effort goalwards.

Again it bends, and Emiliano Martinez in the away goal is panicking, but the ball flies just wide of goal. Great effort.
