  1. Ten Hag philosophy 'no different'published at 15:03 Greenwich Mean Time 3 November 2023

Fulham v Man Utd (Sat, 12:30 GMT)

    Manchester United

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag said earlier that his philosophy at Manchester United has not changed since last season.

The Dutchman said: "I came here with my philosophy based on possession but also to combine it with the DNA of Manchester United and with the players - the competencies and the characters of the players.

"Last season I think we played very good football. This season the philosophy is no different. No, I don't want to play long balls. Yes, I want to play from the back, as we did."

Ten Hag has inherited an awful squad, lack of discipline, lack of respect for the club. These players ultimately are not good enough with there shameful attitudes. Fernandes should be stripped of his captaincy, constantly flapping his arms in the air, moaning and refusing to chase back when he is fairly tackled. Nothing will change until certain players have been sold. None of these players would get away with it at City or Liverpool.

  3. 'Better level of refereeing is needed'published at 14:57 Greenwich Mean Time 3 November 2023

Sheff Utd v Wolves (Sat, 15:00 GMT)

    Wolves

Wolves manager Gary O'Neil on referee Anthony Taylor being demoted to Championship duty after awarding a controversial penalty to Newcastle last weekend: "I think that's three referees who have been relegated to the Championship after taking charge of our games.

"I haven't had an apology and I don't want one. A better level of refereeing is needed, there are too many mistakes. We're all held to high standards - the players are and I am."

Sheff Utd v Wolves (Sat, 15:00 GMT)

    Wolves

Wolves manager Gary O'Neil on whether he can put a date on Pedro Neto's return from injury: "Not accurately. A few weeks is probably where we are at the moment. He won't be available in the next two weekends and then we have an international break.

"We're hopeful we'll get him back quickly. I don't want to put too much pressure on him. He's been so good this season but we have other players."

  7. Can Man Utd play like Ajax or not?published at 14:42 Greenwich Mean Time 3 November 2023

Fulham v Man Utd (Sat, 12:30 GMT)

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport

I asked Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag to clarify comments that emerged on Scandinavian broadcaster Viaplay after last Sunday's derby defeat to City, that his team could not play like his old Ajax side.

The gist of Ten Hag's answer was that his words had been misinterpreted - the interview had been done in Dutch.

I then pointed out that many observers had suggested there was no obvious style associated with Ten Hag's United.

That is not fair, came the reply: "The intention is clear but definitely it is the case that the execution isn’t there."

But if the execution isn't there, how can we tell what the style is?

    Manchester City

Now here's Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola on this week's Ballon d'Or ceremony, where Lionel Messi won the award ahead of City's Erling Haaland: "It was a good night for City and congratulations to Messi. We were there, it's so important for us as we have not always been there in the past.

"[Haaland] has all his career ahead of him. Maybe next season I can be there if we continue to win things with the team."

  11. An intense Ten Hagpublished at 14:26 Greenwich Mean Time 3 November 2023

Fulham v Man Utd (Sat, 12:30 GMT)

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport

Erik ten Hag was quite jovial when he came into the media room at Carrington this afternoon, but as soon as the questions started, he became very intense.

Ten Hag has a fierce stare and, unlike many managers, his eyes don't wander away from the person he is responding to.

It is not unnerving - Roy Keane was the master at that - but it does make it clear Ten Hag is being serious.

It certainly makes you believe him when he says he has belief in his players.

Whether it is misguided or not, that is another matter.

John: The current OT hierarchy would have to resign if they sacked Ten Hag, bringing him in was their big decision. Once Ineos get involved they will do a thorough audit, replace that hierarchy and then we'll see how the manager position stands. Just write off this season.

"We are not managing well at the moment and that's why we lose too many points. We are still so young and maybe that's why we don't manage it well. I have no doubt in the future Chelsea will be back in a strong position."

The intention is there?! What has Ten Hag been watching?! He's clearly lost the plot. No wonder his team is fractured, with no clear leader. However, sacking Eric won't change things. Aside from a lack of candidates, the problems are internal. There's no clear structure or vision for the future, and the Red Devils look like they just sleepwalk through games, hoping for a positive result. Sacking ETH will only mean the problems become another person's. The players need to show more pride and fight, at the very least, then maybe they can move forward in the right direction. That's all the fans are asking for!

Ten Hag is the right man. The big problem United have is they have sacked managers far too quickly and not given them the chance to build their own squad (with the exception of Ole and I still think he got sacked prematurely). Give the manager full backing or bring in a sporting director to oversee everything. In my opinion Ten Hag should be given at least until the end of next season.
