  1. CLOSE!published at 18:59 Greenwich Mean Time 12 November 2023

    Leicester 0-0 Arsenal

Close. Really close! Victoria Pelova picks up the pieces on the fringe of the area and cracks in a left-footed shot which whistles into the side-netting. A net rustler, just the wrong side as far as the Gunners are concerned.

  2. CLOSE!published at 18:56 Greenwich Mean Time 12 November 2023

    Leicester 0-0 Arsenal

Ooooh that's a moment of panic in the Leicester backline. Keeper Janina Leitzig, who has been mint for Leicester since her arrival, spills a header from Alessia Russo and is lucky to see her defence bail her out.

Deanne Rose then threatens on the counter again for Leicester, she looks lively.

First and foremost you look at champions gone by and they do not concede goals.

The lack of clean sheets for Arsenal is an issue Jonas Eidevall will want to address as quickly as possible.

    Leicester 0-0 Arsenal

    Chloe Hudson-Jones
Ex-Leicester midfielder on Radio 5 Sports Extra

Leicester have had a little more time to prepare for this game with the free midweek but you could also argue that it is added pressure.

You are waiting the longest all weekend to play, watching all of the other results go in and seeing how that impacts your own situation.

I'm sure the players after the defeat last week would have just wanted to get back on the pitch.

  6. CLOSE!published at 18:51 Greenwich Mean Time 12 November 2023

    Leicester 0-0 Arsenal

Poor from the Gunners as Katie McCabe gives the ball away in a dangerous area, Leicester work it to Janice Cayman and her shot from range deflects narrowly wide. Promising signs for Leicester.

  7. Postpublished at 18:49 Greenwich Mean Time 12 November 2023

    Leicester 0-0 Arsenal

Alessia Russo is straight into the action, bulldozing down the left wing to win a throw but Leicester defend their lines well. At the other end Deanne Rose, making her first WSL start, shows a neat touch for City.

    Arsenal have lacked defensive stability.

In terms of personnel they have rotated a lot, and part of that is due to availability of players due to injury.

I think Jonas Eidevall is still trying to work out his best back four - and he has plenty of options to choose from.

Willie Kirk has done a fantastic job making Leicester a well-oiled machine and they are not going to be walked over tonight.

To go from being in a relegation battle to having the run that they have at the start of the season, albeit if the last few results haven't gone their way, is incredible.

They looked destined for the drop for a large chunk of last season but Leicester are a different beast nowadays. In 2023, Leicester City have only conceded six goals on home soil in the WSL(W4 D1 L3), an average of just 0.75 per game. Across 2021 and 2022, Leicester conceded 43 goals in 16 home games, which was 2.69 per game on average.

In the wake of the fallout between Manchester City boss Gareth Taylor and Arsenal boss Jonas Eidevall last week, Leicester manager Willie Kirk has said WSL bosses must "try a little bit harder" to respect referees.

"I think we can all be lively at times at the side of the pitch and that's emotions," he said. "I've been conscious of my self sometimes, some things I probably feel I've been out of control at times a little bit.

"It's potentially pressure, the emotions of the state of the game at time. I think we've all got to try a little bit harder.

"You choose to use anger at any given moment to try and gain control over someone. That doesn't matter whether it's a fourth official, an opponent, your child. If you raise your voice or get angry, that is a choice."

Gareth Taylor accuses Jonas Eidevall of 'bullying' fourth official

It has been a week of back and forth between Manchester City and Arsenal bosses Gareth Taylor and Jonas Eidevall following the match between their respective teams last week, which Arsenal won 2-1.

After the match, Taylor accused Eidevall of "bullying" the fourth official, doubling down on his comments in a news conference on Monday where he said Eidevall's behaviour was "over the top" and "unnecessary".

The Arsenal manager responded on Wednesday by calling Taylor's comments "borderline slander" and saying he was "really disappointed" but would not take legal action.

After much media and fan attention on the unfolding drama, Taylor said it is time to "draw a line under it".

"We've said what we needed to say, the press have had their bit with it so it's time to move on," he said.

"I've made comments and he's made comments, it's time to draw a line under it."

Eidevall said on Friday that he had not received an apology from Taylor but that he had "said what I want to say" on the matter.
