  1. DISALLOWED GOAL - Chelseapublished at 21:52 Greenwich Mean Time 15 November 2023

    Real Madrid 2-2 Chelsea

Chelsea think they have got a winner. A ball from deep from Millie Bright 40 yards out finds Niamh Charles, who has moved away around the back, to side-foot an excellent volley in.

But the goal does not stand. The ball had gone over the head of Sam Kerr so did she push her marker?

If Charles is marked as offside then it's an awful decision as she was miles onside.

Sam Kerr looks to bustle her way through, but Oihane Hernandez does really well to put her under pressure and help out goalkeeper Misa Rodriguez, who is able to collect the ball.

Hayley Raso, the former Everton and Manchester City winger and an Australia international team-mate of Chelsea forward Sam Kerr, is on for Real Madrid.

She replaces Linda Caicedo, with Freja Olofsson also on for Teresa Abelleira.

What a chance to get the winner.

You are probably wanting someone such as Fran Kirby to still be on the pitch to capitalise on that rebound, or for it to fall back to Lauren James or Sam Kerr.

Jessie Fleming hasn't had the best game tonight and that is a big miss.

  6. HITS THE WOODWORK - Lauren James (Chelsea)published at 89 mins

    Real Madrid 2-2 Chelsea

Almost a bit of magic in the 89th minute from Lauren James. She curls a delightful strike at goal from 25 yards out, a diving Misa Rodriguez is nowhere near it, but the ball bounces off the meat of the crossbar.

The rebound falls to Jessie Fleming and with any kind of composed finish she puts Chelsea back in front, but she can only steer the follow-up attempt wide.

    Real Madrid 2-2 Chelsea

Chelsea's Johanna Rytting Kaneryd tries her luck from just outside the penalty area, shooting through a crowded penalty area. Not for the first time tonight, Misa Rodriguez in the home goal does well to get a hand to it to claw it away.

What an exciting last 10 minutes we've had, it's been end to end.

To think we had to wait until near the end of the match for this to happen, it's just come out of nowhere.

Chelsea are just about wrestling control back now.

I thought (a) extremely soft, and (b) outside the area. No VAR makes this worse

    Martin

Miles outside the penalty area that was, terrible officiating!

Real Madrid's Linda Caicedo looks to have the better of Jess Carter down the left flank, with Caicedo progressing into the penalty area, but great perseverance from the England defender who gets back to recover in time before a shot is sent away.

It's completely against the run of play, how the home side have played in this second half.

I'm surprised that Carmona was able to take the spot kick because she seemed to have pulled up a few minutes ago.

Clearly not enough of an issue for her to not score from the penalty, a well taken spot kick.

GOAL - Real Madrid 2-2 Chelseapublished at 79 mins

    Olga Carmona (Real Madrid, penalty)

Two goals for Olga Carmona and this is a brilliantly taken penalty. Ann-Katrin Berger goes the correct way, to her left, but Carmona's spot-kick is fired high above her into the top corner and we're back level, very quickly.

Chelsea's lead only lasted four minutes.

  13. PENALTY to Real Madridpublished at 21:34 Greenwich Mean Time 15 November 2023

    Real Madrid 1-2 Chelsea

Real Madrid with an instant chance to equalise. Jessie Fleming adjudged to have brought down Athenea del Castillo.

    Controversial.

Contact looked absolutely minimal, and if there was any, it was surely out of the penalty area before Del Castillo then tumbled in the box.

No VAR, so the decision is final.

When the ball is crossed into the area and you know Sam Kerr is in there, you would put your mortgage to win a header there.

Left-footed ball in and Sam Kerr all day long wins that header - It is just what she does!

GOAL - Real Madrid 1-2 Chelseapublished at 75 mins

    Sam Kerr

Niamh Charles scores the first and makes the second.

She bursts forwards with an overlapping run from full-back, she hangs up a delightful, inviting cross and Sam Kerr is smart enough to have peeled away from her marker and clinical enough to powerfully head past Misa Rodriguez from 10 yards out.

Two headers, two goals, Chelsea have fought back from 1-0 down to 2-1 up.

A brilliant full-stretch sliding challenge from Oihane Hernandez right on the edge of her penalty area as Erin Cuthbert was charging in.

  17. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 73 mins

    Real Madrid 1-1 Chelsea

Another change for Real Madrid. It hasn't been striker Signe Bruun's night and her involvement ends early as Real bring on Naomie Feller in an attempt to inject some creativity and pace to their forward line.

    Real Madrid 1-1 Chelsea

Chelsea's Jessie Fleming goes to ground inside the penalty area after running shoulder-to-shoulder with Linda Caicedo.

Referee Frida Mia Klarlund rightly is completely uninterested in the half-hearted penalty appeal. Never a spot kick that one.

  19. 'Chelsea press forcing Madrid further and further back'published at 69 mins

    Real Madrid 1-1 Chelsea

    Gilly Flaherty
Former England defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

Real Madrid need to get their whole team higher up the pitch.

Before the recent corner, Linda Caicedo was dropping as deep as her own 18 yard box to get on the ball. That is how deep the side have been sitting this second half.

It also shows how effective the Chelsea press has been that she is dropping into such an area to get on the ball.

I am standing here and shaking my head at how bad the turnover is from the home side's possession game.

    Real Madrid 1-1 Chelsea

Lauren James has only been on a few minutes and looks to make an instant impact as she gets the ball and directly storms at goal.

She breaks free and goes for goal from 25 yards out, but it would have needed something sensational to score from there and she can only fire well over the bar.
