    Real Madrid 1-0 Chelsea

Chelsea are knocking on the door. Fran Kirby has the skill to create some space and her cross is only just over the head of Jessie Fleming. But the Blues come again with Niamh Charles' dangerous low cross from the left after an excellent turn only for some solid defending from Ivana Andres - well positioned just in front of goalkeeper Misa Rodriguez to wipe out the threat.

    Real Madrid 1-0 Chelsea

Erin Cuthbert whips in a cross from the right, but some composed defending from Real Madrid sees the ball calmly chested back to Misa Rodriguez.

Real haven't really offered much, but they're the ones with the lead. Emma Hayes will definitely not be panicking yet. This match is there for Chelsea if they can just improve the final delivery.

Real Madrid only partially clear a corner and it falls to Erin Cuthbert but her shot from 22 yards was always rising and never threatening the home goal.

It's good pressure from Chelsea, they're just making some openings now, winning some set pieces.

The key now is to win the first and second balls, they're not making the most of the opportunities at the moment.

    Real Madrid 1-0 Chelsea

Chelsea earn a free-kick following a rash challenge from Sandie Toletti on Fran Kirby. Erin Cuthbert takes it and hits it deep, but it is headed away at the back post by Oihane Hernandez.

Good position, but nothing came of it. A bit of a waste.

It's the first touch from Sam Kerr that takes it away from the defender, Andres can't do anything about it.

I thought it had rolled in the net, that's how close it was. In the end it was a good save from Misa.

  7. GREAT SAVE!published at 30 mins

    Real Madrid 1-0 Chelsea

Brilliant from Misa Rodriguez to keep Real Madrid ahead. Fran Kirby links up with Sam Kerr, who takes a touch and hits a powerful rising shot from a tight angle.

It would've crept in inside the post too, but Rodriguez flung up a strong arm to make an excellent save and keep it at 1-0.

    Real Madrid 1-0 Chelsea

Ivana Andres tries to slide a pass through the heart of the Chelsea defence for Linda Caicedo to run on to, but there's just too much on it and Ann-Katrin Berger is off her line superbly to slide in and gather.

Just the final pass is letting Chelsea down at the moment. Erin Cuthbert can't find a team-mate when well placed, before Fran Kirby's cross is met by Kathellen's diving header to clear the danger.

There is still a long time to go in this game.

Yes Chelsea are behind but they don't seem to be panicking. I see a lot more goals left in this one, they won't worry just yet.

Chelsea pushing for an equaliser. A low cross from the left and Sam Kerr at the near post just can't get enough on a flick from Jessie Fleming's pass with the ball also just out of reach of the on-rushing Fran Kirby before Olga Carmona is able to clear.

Chelsea earn a corner and it is taken low from the left, but no blue shirt can get a decisive contact to steer it goalwards and goalkeeper Misa Rodriguez is relieved to collect the ball.

I saw her lining up the shot on the edge of the box and thought 'someone has to go and close her down'.

We saw at the World Cup that she likes to shoot from distance, she did it in the final to score the winner against England.

You've got to know your players.

Berger may have been able to do better with it but it's poor from Chelsea, they give the ball away and let her have acres of space to shoot.

GOAL - Real Madrid 1-0 Chelseapublished at 10 mins

    Olga Carmona

The hosts strike first and Olga Carmona, who grabbed the only goal in the Women's World Cup final in August, will be credited with it.

Ann-Katrin Berger launches a clearance away, but it comes straight back and falls to Carmona. She shoots from 30 yards and it takes a big deflection off Millie Bright to give a wrong-footed Berger no chance in the Chelsea goal.

Real Madrid fortunate to go in front, but they won't care about that.

It's been a good start to the game.

Both teams are just trying to suss each other out, get a few touches in each other's penalty area but no chances or danger of note as of yet.

Linda Caicedo will be one to watch out for tonight.

She had a brilliant World Cup didn't she?

I bet Real Madrid were rubbing their hands together that they managed to sign her up before that tournament.

Roger: Emma Hayes is going to have big decisions to make with USA. Alex Morgan has become totally ineffective. I think one or two ex players should take on an assistant role.

A first chance for Chelsea with Sjoeke Nusken releasing Fran Kirby, but just as she is about to get a shot away, some excellent defending from Spain's World Cup-winning Olga Carmona as she produces a superb sliding challenge to deny the visitors.
