    Karen Bardsley
Former England and Manchester City goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live

I'm speechless right now at what I am seeing, just keep flicking through what we have seen in my mind and cannot believe it.

I don't want to bring doom and gloom but it is just not good enough.

    England 0-2 Netherlands

This is the first time England have been out of form under Sarina Wiegman.

The first time the Lionesses have looked lost.

Georgia Stanway has a shot blocked before England win a wide free-kick.

Earps has been poor last few games. Lost confidence because her defence is rubbish.

    England 0-2 Netherlands

Here come England down the other end. Chloe Kelly dances down the right, cuts inside and then fires an effort narrowly wide.

A minute later and Lauren James has a pop from range but her shot is straight at Dutch keeper Daphne van Domselaar.

    It's a complete mess.

Jess Carter misses the ball, Alex Greenwood dives in and is beaten far too easily and Mary Earps lets it go straight through her hands.

Wembley is completely silent. Greenwood was furious with Earps, and the England captain was flapping her arms in frustration for herself.

Oh no. ITV have just shown us a replay of the goal, and as Lieke Martens flicked the ball on, goalscorer Lineth Beerensteyn was standing two yards offside.

The goal shouldn't have counted. Still, England did make three mistakes leading up to it.

  7. 'Wiegman should turn to Russo'published at 20:22 Greenwich Mean Time 1 December 2023

    England 0-2 Netherlands

    Emma Hayes
    Chelsea manager on ITV

Yes, is the honest answer. The Netherlands are too good for England, at this moment in time anyway.

Lineth Beerensteyn has been absolutely fantastic but Mary Earps should possibly have done better.

It is too easy to get into England's box and get a shot away.

I wonder if Sarina Wiegman will go to the bench now and turn to Alessia Russo? If there's any chance of getting back into this game she should.

  8. 'A shambles'published at 20:22 Greenwich Mean Time 1 December 2023

    England 0-2 Netherlands

    Karen Bardsley
Former England and Manchester City goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live

    It was a shambles.

Bouncing ball outside the area not dealt with by Carter and falls to Beerenstyen who takes a shot and the ball trickles past Earps.

Greenwood shows Beerensteyn inside and not outside and Earps almost dives backwards and can't get to the ball, it goes underneath her hands and into the goal.

I'm devastated for Mary Earps, that happens sometimes. The easy ones are often your undoing.

    Lineth Beerensteyn

A goal full of errors from England.

Keira Walsh is caught on the ball, Jess Carter should clear but doesn't, and Lineth Beerensteyn eventually wins possession before hitting a tame shot that slithers under keeper Mary Earps.

It's far too easy for the Netherlands.

I'll be curious to see what Sarina Wiegman does tactically in this game.

There are advantages for them in an attacking sense in this game but they are not using them and are going backwards, where they are leaving themselves two on two.

England have had their time sadly. It was always going to happen. Winning the Euros, WC Silver, now back down to earth.

England are too lightweight. Too passive, too reactive, no defensive nous.

You can see the Lionesses are just creeping back into the ascendancy here, building some confidence by playing the ball around and getting some joy going forward.

However that element of directness about the Dutch will keep them wary of any counter attacks.

England win the ball deep in Dutch territory with a demon high press.

England were so good for the first 20 minutes. They have the ability to dominate this game again. Team GB's Olympic hopes need the Lionesses to respond.

We know Lauren James loves to drift into these central areas and have a go at goal but in this sort of game she has to take them.

There was a ball on to Niamh Charles down the line which was a much better option to take there.
