Long-serving Wolves defender Jonny Otto has almost certainly played his last game for the club after a major training ground bust-up last month.

There has been interest from Spain and Turkey in the 29-year-old, who is one of the last remaining members of the Nuno Espirito Santo era, having joined the club, initially on loan, in 2018.

Wolves are yet to receive any bids for the player, who has three senior caps for Spain.

    Fulham v Rotherham (19:30 GMT)

Fulham have won their last four meetings with Rotherham in all competitions (most recently the 2016-17 Championship campaign), with this the first time they’ve faced in the FA Cup.

Rotherham are winless in their last 17 FA Cup away games against top-flight opponents (D5 L12), since a 3-1 win at Newcastle United in January 1953.

Fulham have progressed from 12 of their last 15 FA Cup third round ties, with the exceptions in this run coming in 2015-16, 2017-18 and 2018-19.

Rotherham are looking to reach the FA Cup fourth round for the first time since the 2001-02 campaign. They’ve gone out at this stage 12 times since then, including in each of the last five seasons.

Fulham boss Marco Silva has won all five of his FA Cup third round matches in charge – twice with the Cottagers, and once each with Hull City, Watford and Everton.

The FA Cup is here. The greatest football competition in the world ! I'm 60 now but I feel like 6 again watching this competition. My beloved Spurs haven't won it for 33 years now. Please Ange, please go for it and bring the cup home where it belongs !

    Adam in Stevenage

Big opportunity for Spurs tonight to get on a good FA Cup run but Burnley will be no pushover. Hopefully Ange will have the boys up for a good result despite several absentees

I know it's tempting fate to call "can we play you every week?" But given their defensive frailty last time out I'm rather looking forward to tonight's game.

Tottenham midfielder Pape Sarr says he is looking to stay at the club "as long as possible" after signing a new contract until 2030.

The Senegal international has become an integral part of Ange Postecoglou's midfield unit this season after returning from a loan at Ligue 1 side Metz in the summer - the team who he initially joined Spurs from in 2021.

"It's a great feeling of being part of things here at Tottenham, which has become like a family to me now," said Sarr.

"It makes me happy to have renewed my contract with the club, with a view to staying here as long as possible, so I can really express myself on the pitch, enjoy the experience to the full with the fans, and to push on to win trophies.

"I try to enjoy each match as it comes, I wanted to make this a great season for us all and a decent one for me.

"In my view it's been a lot of hard work which is now beginning to pay a little dividend, and so I try to enjoy my football and to help the team the best I can and to draw benefit from every match that I play."

  8. The importance of keeping 'unbelievable' Palhinhapublished at 19:03 Greenwich Mean Time 5 January

Have Fulham got an opportunity in the cups this season? If you can change the draw to not be against Liverpool that would certainly help.

That Carabao Cup semi-final is the one where you're looking at the draw and they were probably thinking 'really, does it have to be that?' That was the tough draw.

It's brilliant they have got the second leg at home though, it gives you a bit of a psychological edge if they can be tight and have something to fight for. They've got to be within the tie, they have to make sure they are tight, don't concede too much territory or too much space and don't concede too many in the first leg.

At home to Rotherham in the FA Cup, however, is a good cup draw but it is always tricky in the FA Cup. They had a great result against Arsenal recently, but they are up and down so how long can it last?

Marco Silva's side have got a big derby coming up against Chelsea too and that's sandwiched in between a League Cup semi-final so they've got a lot of work to do because that will be tough. It is important they do get a result against Rotherham. The loading of their fixtures has been quite good, but whether the squad can cope with the next 10 days after that, it will be tough.

As they head into the January transfer window, Joao Palhinha is going to be key if he can stay. They've got to line up a really key midfielder up if they are going to do that deal and go big on it, that is the point at this stage of the season. He's been unbelievable since he didn't get his wish to go, he's just got his head down and been an example - it's important to try to keep him.

It has been a tough few weeks for Thomas Frank and his injury-and-suspension-depleted squad.

Bryan Mbuemo and Ben Mee's absences both came at a time when the Bees could have done with a bit of luck. Instead, more pressure was put on the players who were available.

The results, if not the performances, have seen the side slip down the table to a position where Chelsea winning at Luton Town was greeted with a sigh of relief from fans.

One spark of positivity which has provided a light among the midwinter gloom has been the performance of Keane Lewis-Potter. The former Hull City man, now in his second season with Brentford, has been unfortunate with injuries and had been unable to get a regular starting line-up spot until recently.

The 22-year-old started just three Premier League games last season. He already has six this time around, and in the past fours outings he has scored twice and been a creative force.

His goal against Aston Villa - his first in the top flight - appears to have been a key moment for him.

    Fulham v Rotherham (19:30 GMT)

    Leam RichardsonImage source, Getty Images

Rotherham head coach Leam Richardson believes if his side "play with expression" they will stand a chance against Premier League Fulham tonight.

Richardson was Wigan Athletic's assistant manager when they knocked out Manchester City in 2018.

No stranger to a cup upset, the Millers boss knows that famous night will be tough to replicate.

"We'll do well to trump that one," Richardson told BBC Radio Sheffield.

"We had to work hard on that night and it will be no different on Friday.

"If you put the work in and are diligent in yourself and what you do, be very mindful, play with expression and that belief in what you want to do around the football pitch, you'll always try and create that chance and opportunity."

  12. 'Holding back resources now appealing'published at 18:52 Greenwich Mean Time 5 January

    Brentford v Wolves (19:15 GMT)

    Mike Taylor
    BBC WM commentator

After the happiest of Christmases on the field, Wolves approach the new year with confidence, and - perhaps - a different set of parameters for making decisions over the next few weeks at least.

Gary O'Neil spoke just before Christmas of the difficulties posed by three games spread across just six days. Yet, as they moved through those matches, his players gave the impression of gaining energy, rather than running short of it. They looked like a team having fun.

After beating Everton, O'Neil and his players tempered their comments, keen to stress that their thoughts were with their absent midfielder Mario Lemina and his family, after the death of his father. The whole crowd joined in with a strong show of support for Lemina, singing his name after each goal as the players held up his shirt.

The three wins also demonstrated how Wolves have developed to a point where they can now cope with a level of absence likely to occur during a rigorous season. Lemina, Craig Dawson and Jean-Ricner Bellegarde all missed one of those games, Boubacar Traore was sidelined for two, and Pedro Neto was only ready for a brief return against Everton with the game already won.

Last summer, Wolves' squad was considered under-strength even with everyone fit and present. Not so now.

One reason for the transfer-window austerity at Molineux before the season - that led to Julen Lopetegui's departure - was the spending deemed necessary to fend off relegation last January. Transfer business in mid-season often feels more expensive than in the summer. We should note that Lemina and Dawson were unusual January bargains that now look cheap at twice the price, but the general point stands.

Wolves could still do with additions, especially up front, with Fabio Silva and Sasa Kalajdzic evidently not favoured. Silva has been loaned out already, and perhaps Kalajdzic will follow.

However, free from the relegation pressures of last year, the thought of holding back resources before a bolder move next summer now seems increasingly appealing.

Tottenham have still got a long injury list and are also without Son-Heung min who is away at the Asian Cup, but Burnley boss Vincent Kompany might well be focused fully on the Premier League, even though I think they are down anyway. There might be some goals there.

    Brentford v Wolves (19:15 GMT)

This is the first FA Cup meeting between Brentford and Wolves. It’s just the second meeting in any cup competition.

Wolves won their most recent meeting with Brentford at Gtech Community Stadium on 27 December (4-1). The last time they won two away games against the same side was at Reading in 2002-03.

Brentford have progressed from just one of their past 16 FA Cup ties against top-flight opponents.

Wolves were knocked out of the FA Cup third round last season by Liverpool in a replay.

They haven't gone out at this stage of the competition in consecutive campaigns as a top-flight side since 1975.

In his last campaign with Brentford in 2018-19, Neal Maupay was involved in a goal in all four of his FA Cup appearances, scoring three and assisting one.

On why Fulham have been "offered" the chance to sign former Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino from Saudi Pro League club Al-Ahli: "I think we're going to see a lot of this. We have already seen it with Ruben Neves a few months ago, when he was rumoured to be very unsettled in Saudi Arabia. We've seen it with Jota, the former Celtic player, who is apparently desperate to get out.

"Firmino may well have decided it's not for him. The rumours in football are that a lot of the players who have gone out there are thinking: 'I might have made a bit of a blunder - there's only so much money I can earn, and all the money in the world isn't making this very satisfying.'

"However, I think it's slightly complicated by the fact that each player there has to do a certain amount of time, which might even be two seasons, before they get all of their money. That's certainly the case for it to be tax free, so I think that's a complicating factor.

"But if Firmino wants to come back to the Premier League, I think Fulham will be a really good move for him. I think there are probably nine clubs who would be interested in Firmino, if he seriously does want to come back."

    Brentford v Wolves (19:15 GMT)

Brentford boss Thomas Frank says it will take an "unbelievable" offer to prise striker Ivan Toney away from the club this month.

London rivals Arsenal and Chelsea have both been linked with the 27-year-old, who could return from a betting ban to face Nottingham Forest on 20 January.

Frank, however, is confident the England forward will remain at the club beyond the January transfer window.

"The very short answer is yes," said Frank, when asked if Toney would stay.

"He is a Brentford player. He is here, we miss a few offensive players and I cannot see why we should sell him.

"I would love to have him here for a long time. It is not for me to discuss (an offer), but if I could ever recommend one, it would need to be an unbelievable price, so he will stay here."

Brentford's team has been quite fragile in recent matches - well beaten by Wolves with key mistakes and questions were asked whether they had too much rest by not having to play the Manchester City game. They've made key individual errors and there was a poor performance against Crystal Palace that cost them in a big way. Now they are looking over their shoulder.

They do have big players to come back though, particularly Ivan Toney.

If you look at the league position now, it is going to be even tougher to allow him to leave this window even if with the right amount of money was offered. The pressure will be different to keep him now.

There is only one more game before the league game at home to Nottingham Forest when he can return. That is obviously a big one towards the bottom, so hopefully they can get him some minutes in that. How can you let him go now? It has got to be a serious amount of money to do that.

It will be a great lift for the players, they will feel like they have got a chance with him when confidence is so low. He might get going in one or two games at first, then games three to five he might just be getting back up to pace and speed again. Adrenaline gets you through the first couple when levels are out. But, they need him back, they need him in the team, they need more players back and if ever there was a team that needs to sign a couple of players it is Brentford.

Thomas Frank is an experienced manager, he knows how he is getting the best of that squad. This is the first time we have really seen a big decline so he is going to be tested and he's got to find the answers now so they don't end up near the drop.

Burnley boss Vincent Kompany says he "doesn't make a distinction" between league and cup matches.

"If you win the game you can hope for a positive cup run and carry on. If you don't win, you move on back to the league," said Kompany.

"I am embracing the challenge anyway, but I am not saying it is a bad draw. It is the right draw at the right time.

"You have the opportunity to play against one of the best teams in England, which is the best league in the world. So that means a lot.

"I am treating it as an important game for us to continue measuring ourselves against these teams."

Gary O'Neil says he is enjoying seeing the optimism being displayed by Wolves supporters in reaction to their team's performances.

A run of three successive wins has taken Wolves to 11th in the Premier League table, three points behind seventh-placed Brighton.

O'Neil, who was appointed as Wolves boss less than a week before the season started, told BBC Radio WM: "I want them to be excited and I want them to talk about what we might be able to achieve, and have hopes and dreams.

"That's what I came in for. You come into a place where everything was a little bit down and gloomy, and at this moment it isn't.

"Winning obviously helps, you always feel better when you're winning. You wake up the next morning and you're not quite as tired when you've won. Hopefully we can continue that."
