I would imagine Manchester United are keeping a very, very close eye on Grace Clinton.

Tottenham boss Robert Vilahamn speaking to Sky Sports: "When we had 3-3 I was thinking 'Oh we might need to defend better', but then we got the 4-3 goal and I was happy again."

On his style of play: "I think I have learned through my career how I want to play the game and be successful. For the women's game if you want to attract fans and grow the game you need to play exciting football. The fans want to see goals not clean sheets. So that is why I play in this way."

On Grace Clinton's performance: "When you look at her, that kind of player you should not lock them into specific, rigid patterns. They need to be in a structure but then be allowed to do what they want and let them be free to act and use their talent. The whole week she has been shining in training, so I knew she was going to smash it today and she did, she was excellent for the whole 90 minutes."

On if he would like Spurs to sign Clinton permanently: "Yes, I would be stupid to not want to keep her here. But she is a United player and I am developing their player, which I am happy for at the moment as we get to work with her.

"In the future we will not loan so many players, instead we will try to develop our own players. I am happy to work with Grace at the moment but she will go back there at the end of the season... Unless we find some way to sign her!"

West Ham boss Rehanne Skinner speaking to Sky Sports: "We can't quite get that result over the line at the moment. We've been here before, you need that result to get over the line and you then get on a roll. We will keep working hard and hopefully that will come soon."

On some decisions that went against her side: "I was speaking to the fourth official for 45 minutes about some of the tackles, coming in from behind. We talk about VAR but we also need to invest in the people that are running the game, invest in referees becoming full time so that they can learn from these situations and make sure that they do not keep happening."

On the goals conceded: "We didn't deal with the first phase of the goals very well, and we did not react quickly enough to the ball. Macka [Arnold] didn't see some of the goals because of where they dropped, with players in front of her, so we were unfortunate with those."

  5. Postpublished at 21:07 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January

Rehanne Skinner is not happy with some decisions but is confident West Ham will get the results to turn their season around.

  6. 'Once we get a goal we feel the floodgates start to open for us'published at 21:04 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January

Player of the Match Grace Clinton speaking to Sky Sports: "Obviously they were not the best conditions to play in but it was good to get a win to start the New Year."

"When you shoot with your left foot, your weak foot, you don't think about it too much do you? It was actually the first time that I was on the edge of the box and I scored, so hopefully they keep me there!"

On enjoying her football at Spurs: "They have just given me the confidence and freedom to express myself and I am just really enjoying my football at the moment."

On improving her defensive work: "The manager is really big on his wingers doubling up on the opposition wingers, closing up or defensive areas. We are a really good team on the counter attack so if we stay compact we can be dangerous. Stay tight and we know that it works for us so we are doing what we are good at.

"I feel like once we get a goal the floodgates start to open for us, but going goal for goal with the opposition is not something we try and do. We want to stay compact and defend together. It is something we work on every week."

On if she wants to stay at Spurs beyond the season: "I have not thought about any of that. I am just happy to be playing and I am just taking things game by game."

On what success this season would be: "Having a new manager this season for the club it would be adapting to his style, and getting used to how he works and trying to win as many games as possible by performing every week."

Grace Clinton had a belter of a game and she's already got a taste for the understatement, opening her post-match interview with 'that wasn't the best conditions...'

That was a great game to watch, an even better one to play in I'm sure.

Despite the wind and rain we saw some clinical finishes, some great build up play and we also got to see some new signings make their debuts.

There are plenty of positives for West Ham to take forward. If we discount the goal that shouldn't have been, this game would have been a draw. They will take a lot of confidence from coming back from two goals down at one point.

The introduction of the new signings, bringing the experience, Gorry and Mewis. Overall it doesn't feel like too bad a loss for West Ham.

    Claire Rafferty
Ex-Chelsea and West Ham defender on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra

Spurs are doing well to take their time on these set pieces, just taking those extra few seconds to kill any momentum West Ham might be gaining.

I think it may just be a little too late for West Ham to get something from this now.

Anywhere will do stuff now from the Spurs backline as the swirling wind makes heading the ball clear a lottery. Can West Ham fashion another chance?

  15. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 90 mins

We'll have another six minutes. Bethany England - who missed a couple of great chances in the first half - comes off for Spurs who are begging for that whistle.

Kirsty Smith has a real job on to get the ball to stay still in the quadrant. After an age she does ping it in and it's a wicked delivery, just about put behind for another corner. The cameraman is having a job to stay upright but Spurs clear away...

Spurs have done a lot right in this game but you'd have to have question marks over game management. They have not handled the lead well and still look open as we enter the last few minutes.

Should the WSL be careful what they wish for...? West Ham look dangerous, as does the weather as they win another deep free-kick.
