Having seen that goal again Ashleigh Neville actually got to the ball first, kicking it against the sliding Risa Shimizu and in. Deserved her luck for the effort.

At the other end Beth England attacks a cross and heads it just wide. So nearly a second for Tottenham!

That's a first WSL goal for the former Tokyo Verdy Beleza defender. A handy time to get it as the wind really starts to pick up.

West Ham are level! From nowhere really, Spurs switch off at a throw-in, Riko Ueki puts in a low cross from the left but it should be dealt with. Risa Shimizu instead reacts best, beating Ash Neville to the ball and stabbing it in from close range!

  4. 'West Ham building in confidence'published at 19:20 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January

    West Ham 0-1 Tottenham

    Claire Rafferty
Ex-Chelsea and West Ham defender on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra

Tottenham are almost allowing the West Ham back line to play the ball around, but once it comes into the middle areas they are not pressing as intensely as what we saw in the opening 15-20 minutes. Not as much energy as they started with.

West Ham are building in confidence.

  5. Postpublished at 33 mins

    West Ham 0-1 Tottenham

A lone cry of 'Come on you Irrrooonnnsss' punctuates the night but Spurs are looking comfortable here at the moment.

In fact both sides look steady in possession but Tottenham have the edge in the final third.

  6. YELLOW CARDpublished at 30 mins

    West Ham 0-1 Tottenham

West Ham are trying to disrupt the Spurs game but Hawa Cissoko goes through the back of Celin Bizet and she's booked. A costly one that rules her out of the next game.

  7. Postpublished at 28 mins

    West Ham 0-1 Tottenham

Better from the hosts as Viviane Asseyi drives into the area on the left and fires in a low cross. Just needed someone to get across the defence and goalkeeper there but it's easy enough for Barbora Votíková to collect.

  8. Postpublished at 25 mins

    West Ham 0-1 Tottenham

She's at it again, Grace Clinton, a lovely touch to get the ball out of her feet and then she slaps in a shot which is well held by Mackenzie Arnold.

  9. 'A balanced game, Clinton's quality the difference'published at 19:10 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January

    West Ham 0-1 Tottenham

    Claire Rafferty
Ex-Chelsea and West Ham defender on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra

I think we have seen West Ham grow into the game in the last five minutes, getting further up the pitch.

But in terms of actual final product and threatening the Tottenham goal we haven't seen nearly enough.

I think it has been a 0-0 game, it has been really balanced so far, but the difference has been the real clinical and quality finish from Clinton.

  10. YELLOW CARDpublished at 21 mins

    West Ham 0-1 Tottenham

A slack touch in midfield leads to a hefty tackle from Riko Ueki and the Hammers forward is in the book. The follow through was nasty on Eveliina Summanen, who created the opening goal this evening.

  11. 'West Ham overplaying too much'published at 19:05 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January

    West Ham 0-1 Tottenham

    Claire Rafferty
Ex-Chelsea and West Ham defender on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra

West Ham are overplaying far too much and are then not able to take advantage of the gaps Tottenham are leaving open.

They have had some chances to go forward but seem to take the long way around every time at the minute. Clearly they are lacking confidence.

  12. Postpublished at 17 mins

    West Ham 0-1 Tottenham

Half a chance for Spurs as one ball slices the Hammers defence in two, Bethany England has Martha Thomas for company but does decide to shoot and slams it straight at Mackenzie Arnold. You'd expect better from England there.

    West Ham 0-1 Tottenham

I wouldn't say the omens look bleak but West Ham United have failed to win in their last 40 matches when conceding the opening goal in the Women's Super League dating back to 8 November 2020 against Birmingham City. That's the same week that Joe Biden was elected President.

  14. 'West Ham need to look to get in behind'published at 18:56 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January

    West Ham 0-1 Tottenham

    Claire Rafferty
Ex-Chelsea and West Ham defender on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra

West Ham are going to have to encourage the pressure from Tottenham onto them so that they can work the ball in behind.

With the wind swirling around at the moment and Spurs keeper Votikova quick off her line, a long ball over the top could cause some problems back there.

  15. Postpublished at 10 mins

    West Ham 0-1 Tottenham

Grace Clinton is on loan at Spurs from Manchester United, and her current side will move level on points with her parent team with a win tonight.

Spurs keeper Barbora Votíkova then comes out to sweep up and makes a mess of it, perhaps caught out by the wind, but she gets away with a duffed kick.

  16. 'Great footwork from Clinton'published at 18:53 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January

Great footwork there by Grace Clinton, she had three or four West Ham players around her, but she was able to clear her feet and get the shot away.

It looked like Mackenzie Arnold was slightly unsighted there, but good finish from Clinton, who drove the ball low and hard into the bottom corner.

Pick that one out! Tottenham take the lead with a lovely strike as Grace Clinton picks the ball up in the D, turns away from a weak challenge from Shannon Cooke and then laces into the bottom corner from 18 yards out.

  19. 'Skinner under pressure'published at 18:49 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January

    West Ham 0-0 Tottenham

    Claire Rafferty
Ex-Chelsea and West Ham defender on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra

West Ham boss Rehanne Skinner is definitely under some pressure at the moment.

It must be difficult for her coming up against her old team today in Spurs who are doing so well, while her West Ham side are struggling.

Hopefully the new signings can help improve their performances in the coming weeks.

  20. Postpublished at 3 mins

    West Ham 0-0 Tottenham

I don't know about where you are tonight but the ferocious wind that threatened to turn my dog into a kite about an hour ago looks to be blowing its way across the pitch in Dagenham as well. Crosses and corners could be interesting.
