    West Ham 1-3 Tottenham

West Ham failed to win any of their last eight Women’s Super League matches before tonight and that run looks like being extended now. That third goal has really put the dampeners on the mood and there's a fair few shoulders dropping out there.

You can see why West Ham and Mackenzie Arnold are annoyed with that decision.

There is a Spurs player, maybe Angharad James, in the goalkeeper's line of sight as Grace Clinton hits the ball from the edge of the box. She doesn't even see the ball.

That Tottenham player is definitely interfering and West Ham have a right to feel hard done by with that.

Grace Clinton hasn't made her England debut yet by the way, but has been called up to the squad. Caps incoming, you'd suggest.

What a game Grace Clinton is having!

Mackenzie Arnold did well in the first phase of the corner, getting a good punch off the goal line to clear the ball.

It is the second phase where West Ham were caught watching and Clinton picks the ball up on the edge of the box and fires it into the bottom corner.

    Grace Clinton (48 mins)

Another absolute cracker from Grace Clinton! What an evening she is having!

A corner is whipped into that swirling wind, difficult to defend, Mackenzie Arnold can only punch it to the edge of the area and after a touch to the side Clinton thunders in a shot into the far corner.

Arnold is not happy that a Spurs player was in her eyeline but the goal stands. And what a strike it was too.

    West Ham 1-2 Tottenham

    Claire Rafferty
Ex-Chelsea and West Ham defender on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra

Even though they are 2-1 up I think Tottenham will be the less happier of the two teams because the middle part of that first half after they had taken the lead, they really switched off and let West Ham back into the game.

Robert Vilahamn will be asking them to step up and play like they are level or behind for the whole game, have more urgency, rather than just when they need to.

The wind has picked up even more, testing the integrity of the corner flags as we get back playing. It looks like it's favouring Spurs in the second half but it could make life tough for both sides to be honest.

    HT: West Ham 1-2 Tottenham

    Claire Rafferty
Ex-Chelsea and West Ham defender on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra

The first 10 minutes were a bit flat, Tottenham got the early goal but West Ham slowly built into it with Katrina Gorry at the centre of everything that was great for them.

Tottenham have that cutting edge, when they do have the opportunities they have been the more clinical of the sides.

  12. Postpublished at 19:41 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2024

As it stands Tottenham are sixth in the WSL but level on points with both Manchester United and Liverpool. Could be some run in.

The Hammers have just five points and are off the bottom only on goal difference.

From where we are sitting that looked like a penalty didn't it?

Neville got caught wrongside for Spurs and Asseyi managed to get in front and it seemed like there was contact.

Lovely, lovely football from Spurs. One touch stuff, Beth England with a classic lay-off to set Grace Clinton through the middle. She has an option either side and tries to find Martha Thomas - but it's just cut out.

What a finish that was from Bizet.

Again that all came from Clinton picking up the ball in the midfield and driving forward and breaking lines.

When she got the ball Bizet had nothing else in her mind other than to smash the ball into the back of the net.

Grace Clinton is having a stormer of a half. She scored the opener and now collects the ball from a quick throw, looks up and threads a beauty of a ball through to send Celin Bizet in on goal. The Norwegian never looked like missing and didn't. Clipped into the net.

  19. 'Tottenham had gone flat since the opening goal'published at 19:27 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2024

    West Ham 1-1 Tottenham

    Claire Rafferty
Ex-Chelsea and West Ham defender on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra

I'm surprised how flat Tottenham had gone since they scored the first goal.

They have now moved a little higher up the pitch, but they had been sitting deeper in the last 10 minutes before the equaliser compared to how they started the game.

  20. Postpublished at 42 mins

    West Ham 1-1 Tottenham

That equaliser has woken Spurs up. Ash Neville now finds Martha Thomas in the left channel, she reaches the edge of the area and fires in a drive which forces Mackenzie Arnold into action. Good save.
