  1. goal

GOAL - Chelsea 2-0 Manchester Unitedpublished at 12:54 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January

    Lauren James (22 mins)

    Game over already?

Too easy for Chelsea, as a long Nathalie Bjorn ball beats the entire United team, Lauren James runs on to it and slams home.

Mary Earps could have done better there. She was slow in coming for a long ball which reached her area, and then had not set herself - allowing James to beat her at her near post.

  2. 'United can't get their forward players into the game'published at 12:51 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January

    Chelsea 1-0 Manchester United

    Fara Williams
Former England midfielder on BBC Two

Manchester United are finding it really difficult at the moment, they can't get any of their attacking players into the game.

That front four (when Ella Toone joins) can't get on the ball, and when they do they are a little bit sloppy. There is a little bit of frustration.

A win for Chelsea and Manchester City drop points against Liverpool, then it's officially a two horse race between Arsenal and Chelsea.

20 minutes into the game, and Chelsea have had 70% possession.

Not what Marc Skinner or Man United fans would want to see.

Chelsea could and should be a couple of goals up.

    Chelsea 1-0 Man Utd

Chelsea captain Niamh Charles gets around United on the left, and her cross is half-cleared.

It falls to Erin Cuthbert just outside the area, but she snatches at the shot and pulls it well wide. Good chance, that.

Another good opening for Chelsea down the wing as Johanna Kaneryd gets away down the right, but she pulls her low cross behind Mia Fishel and United clear.

    Chelsea 1-0 Man Utd

Chelsea endured a very slow start against West Ham last week in the FA Cup. No such sluggishness today, clearly Emma Hayes has had a stern word or several with her side.

They are winning every 50-50 and second ball so far in the early stages.

Manchester United look a yard off at the minute. Chelsea look so comfortable keeping possession and it is so easy for them to find space in between the lines.

A first good move by United, results in a first shot of the game. Ella Toone does well to tee up Katie Zelem 20 yards out, but she skews her shot well over the bar.

Jude: How is that push on Blundell not a free kick?

Aaron: That goal would not happen if the clear push on Blundell had been given the free kick it deserved.

  13. 'Chelsea know how to manage games'published at 12:39 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January

    Chelsea 1-0 Manchester United

    Fara Williams
Former England midfielder on BBC Two

The reason Chelsea have had so much success over the years is that they know how to manage games when they take the lead.

It is no coincidence that they have such a good record after having scored the first goal.

The likes of Reiten and Leupolz in the middle know how to dictate the tempo to suit the side.

Lauren James is absolutely on it so far, she runs at the defence again and gets a shot away, dragging it wide this time.

Manchester United keeper Mary Earps is furious her defence allowed James to shoot there.

    What a start!

Chelsea have been on top so far and it hasn't taken long for them to get in front.

It all started with an expert piece of work from Erin Cuthbert to dispossess a Manchester United midfielder and knock the ball up the pitch towards Johanna Rytting Kaneryd.

Chelsea couldn't get a shot away, but Lauren James has already spent most of the game trying intelligently finding space and it's paid dividends this time. She peeled off her marker to provide an option as it became crowded in the box and she was there to prod home.

An excellent start for the WSL leaders.

Manchester United look like they would rather still be in bed. An extremely slow start by the visitors.

Manager Marc Skinner looks very unhappy in the dugout.

  17. 'Excellent composure from Chelsea in the box'published at 12:36 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January

    Chelsea 1-0 Manchester United

The composure Chelsea showed in the United box was excellent. It was too easy for them to break dwon the united left hand sde.

Kaneryd did well to slow herself down to find a teammate, and Reiten did well to keep hold of the ball and lay it out to James for the finish. A great goal.

GOAL - Chelsea 1-0 Manchester Unitedpublished at 12:34 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January

    Lauren James (5 mins)

    New hair, same Lauren James.

Chelsea have been overloading United in attack in these early minutes, and they are able to work the ball inside the box to James, who has plenty of space on the right to slip her shot past Mary Earps from six yards.

She then celebrates in front of the Manchester United fans, who had been giving her a bit of stick earlier when she took a corner.

Another corner for Chelsea, this time won on the right after a good run by Ashley Lawrence.

It's swung into the centre and United fail to clear, leading to a goalmouth scramble and a Melanie Leupolz shot blocked.

Eventually Nathalie Bjorn blasts a centre-half's shot well over.

  20. 'United need to be flawless'published at 12:32 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January

    Chelsea 0-0 Manchester United

    Ellen White
Former England and Man City striker on BBC Two

United need to have a flawless performance today. They need to press high, move the ball quickly, and take their chances.

I don't know if they will get many opportunities today so they need to be very clinical in front of goal.
