Even without Eze and Olise, this sort of capitulation is not acceptable. Something is not right on the pitch and Roy has to step aside now. Palace goal difference now worst in the division apart from Sheffield Utd and Burnley. Time to pull the plug on the Hodgson era.

Brighton have been in poor form = thrashing us. Arsenal were on a bad run = cantered to a rout of us. Sheff U = hadn't scored in first 30 mins of any game all season, we gave them two. I don't see how you can come to any other conclusion.

You have no idea which way this will go. Newcastle could stride away and cruise it, as could Luton.

What you don't think is that this will end 2-2. This has got more to come.

A good half from Luton but they need to try and get closer to Elijah Adebayo.

He attempted just five passes in that first half.

Andrew Mitchell: You can never please everyone, but most fan bases will accept cautious, defence-first tactics when it gets results. What they won’t accept is setting up to not lose but consistently losing anyway. I feel for Hodgson but I get why Palace fans are ready to move on.

Crystal Palace cannot deal with crosses from out wide and Evan Ferguson jumps to meet a delivery but doesn't connect well with his header and that's a let off for the visitors.

Luton are not bothered about reputations. They are inspired by the way they are playing at St James' Park. They are thinking 'OK we will have a bit of this'. They don't want to play in the Championship again. 'No, no, no - we are not going backwards, we are going forwards'. Every one of the Luton players is playing to a really high level.

[Could this signal the end for Roy Hodgson?] I don't believe it does. Without Eze and Olise they are a totally different team. We said before this game that you could see it in the body language of the manager that we are not going to do it today because these two aren't here. So it is about getting those two back in the team.

He has controlled large parts of this game but he has been doing it from deep areas. This time he follows it up.

Adebayo drags players away and Dubravka saves it but it's an easy finish for Ross Barkley.

Last time we see Roy on the touchline?

    Dave, Bedford

Surely it's time for Roy Hodgson to step down? Got to do what's right for the club but feel he's holding on too long now. Feel for the Palace fans.

    Andy, Swindon

Roy should just do the dignified thing and step down. Palace will never progress with him in charge.

    Ross Barkley (40 mins)

It's great play from Ross Barkley, who digs in and wins the ball in midfield.

He then lays it off to Alfie Doughty, he forces a save from Martin Dubravka and it falls right at Barkley's feet.

He has time to control it, compose himself, then slot into an open net.
