    Brentford v Liverpool (12:30 GMT)

Right then, we're almost ready to go in the first game of the day.

The players are out at the Gtech Community Stadium. This is a big game for Liverpool as they look to keep themselves at the top of the table.

They haven't won a Premier League game at Brentford. In fact, they haven't won a league game here since 1938 - admittedly their last league game before the Bees promotion a couple of years back was in 1947...

  2. 'Salah's return is perfect timing'published at 12:25 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February

Former England midfielder on Football Focus

It's perfect timing [for Salah to come back]. If he was fully fit I think he would have started. They haven't missed him too much.

In terms of the frontline, they have all turned up for Liverpool and Jota in particular has been brilliant.

  3. 'It's nice to have Salah as an option off the bench!'published at 12:23 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February

    Brentford v Liverpool (12:30 GMT)

    Dion Dublin
Former England striker on Football Focus

If you are a team like Liverpool, you can't just rely on one player. You need other players too. Those kind of players have probably enjoyed that time Salah has been away and all chipped in.

It's nice to look over your shoulder [on the bench] and see Salah sat there [as an option]

  4. 'Feels like Villa have to win'published at 12:22 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February

Fulham v Aston Villa (15:00 GMT)

    Chris Sutton header

Boubacar Kamara's injury is a serious setback for Aston Villa and, with Fulham usually strong at home, this is a difficult game for Unai Emery's side.

It feels like Villa have to win this, with Tottenham and Manchester United both hitting form in the race for the top four.

But Fulham have started scoring again, with Rodrigo Muniz getting two goals in their win over Bournemouth last week, and I feel like they will get something here as well.

    Sutton's prediction: 1-1

  5. Can Watkins keep up fine form in the capital?published at 12:20 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February

Fulham v Aston Villa (15:00 GMT)

    Ollie WatkinsImage source, PA Media

Ollie Watkins has scored in five of his last six top-flight appearances in London.

Can the Aston Villa striker keep up his good form in the capital at Craven Cottage this afternoon?

He has been directly involved in 18 goals in 23 away Premier League appearances for Villa under Unai Emery (11 goals, 7 assists) so there is every chance...

  6. Early team newspublished at 12:18 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February

Fulham v Aston Villa (15:00 GMT)

Fulham are boosted by the return of Calvin Bassey and Alex Iwobi from the Africa Cup of Nations.

Defenders Tosin Adarabioyo and Kenny Tete have also recovered from minor issues but Raul Jimenez remains out.

Aston Villa have lost Diego Carlos and Boubacar Kamara this week to respective hamstring and knee injuries.

Pau Torres could make his first start since mid-December, while Lucas Digne may also be considered after his recent return from a hamstring problem.

  7. 'We have to be the worst opponent for Brentford'published at 12:16 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February

    Brentford v Liverpool (12:30 GMT)

    Liverpool

Liverpool manger Jurgen Klopp, speaking to TNT Sports: "Dom [Dominik Szoboszlai] is injured, yesterday in the training session Ali [Alisson Becker] pulled out and that is not good, but besides from that we have plenty of players coming back.

"We just try to figure it out and we have to be the worst opponent for Brentford which is a big task."

On young players: "I am very proud of our academy and how they educate these boys - they are brilliant people.

"All of them are ready for their football and it is a massive step into fame. The boys are massively down to earth and good guys and that is the most important thing."

On the title race: "We don't chase the title every day and at this moment we are top of the table, but the whole week has nothing got do with it.

"The boys don't feel the pressure, but playing in a team and contributing to a team with the quality we have is special.

"It is a young squad, but these players are a part of the project.

"We have to make sure we are ready today."

  8. 'Toney makes the team better'published at 12:13 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February

    Brentford

Brentford boss Thomas Frank, speaking to TNT Sports...

On managing 100 Premier League game: "In many way it feels natural and it is another day at the office, but on the flipside it is important and a big privilege to be here."

On Ethan Pinnock not starting: "Unfortunate injury, fair to say he has been our best centre-back since he joined the club - he picked up an ankle injury."

On facing Liverpool: "Again the foundation needs to be there and then we can add a bit. We know we are dangerous going forward."

On Igor Thiago signing for Brentford: "Very excited to start working with him. He is a Club Bruges player, but looking forward to him joining in the summer.

"I am happy we got the job done early."

On Ivan Toney's form: "Ivan is a special player he was playing with illness last game [against Wolves] and he got through it, today he is fully fresh and firing.

"Ivan is important for us not only for his general play, but also his personality and he makes the team better."

Thomas Frank believes Liverpool are "the best offensive team in the league" but has faith that his Brentford team can take points off the Premier League leaders.

"We are facing the top-of-the-league team; a team in form in many ways," the Brentford boss said.

"They have top players and a top manager [Jurgen Klopp]. I think they are the best offensive team in the league, because they are very difficult to close down when they are on it.

"They play in behind, they play crosses, they combine, they do one-v-ones and they are good on set-pieces.

"They have created the most xG, which is completely aligned to how they play offensively.

"It’s going to be a huge challenge, but we are up for it, and we believe in ourselves. We believe that we can get a result.”

Andy Robertson arrives ahead of kick-offImage source, Getty Images

Liverpool left-back Andy Robertson, speaking to TNT Sports: "We know how difficult it is here, the last couple of years we have struggled [against Brentford away]. We need to be ready and fight for every ball and if we do that hopefully we will get the three points."

On being injured: "It's the longest time I have been out and I was itching to get back, but to see the lads do well it was a joy to watch. The [younger] lads have stepped up and Curtis [Jones] was my project and I took him under my wing.

"People have filled that void and he is one of them, Harvey [Elliott] has also been excellent, especially off the bench.

"When you are a footballer you want to be on the grass and I am not used to being injured. I enjoy playing with these lads and they are a joy to play with."

On the title race: "The title race, we have had the experience of that but there is not many of us players left [since winning the league in 2020].

"The young lads do not have any fear, we are excited and we are still included in four trophies and hopefully we are there at the end of the season.

"It is an extremely strong title race; the league is a lot more competitive."

Manchester City winger Jack Grealish is ruled out after being withdrawn against Copenhagen with a muscle problem.

Bernardo Silva was hurt by a heavy tackle in the same game and will be assessed, while Josko Gvardiol remains out with an ankle injury.

Mateo Kovacic and Sergio Gomez come back into contention after resuming training.

Chelsea are without Thiago Silva, who was forced off against Crystal Palace because of a groin injury.

Fellow defenders Malo Gusto and Levi Colwill are fit despite minor issues in Monday's victory but Carney Chukwuemeka is absent with a twisted ankle.

Goalkeeper Robert Sanchez is set to return to the matchday squad after missing two months with a knee problem.

  15. 'Spurs just find a way'published at 11:58 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February

    Tottenham v Wolves (15:00 GMT)

    Chris Sutton header

Wolves won the reverse of this fixture in November with two goals in stoppage time but I can see Tottenham getting their revenge here.

I was right last week with my hunch that Spurs were going to beat Brighton, although my guest - the actor Stephen Moyer - did even better and got the 2-1 scoreline spot on.

Spurs just find a way, don't they, with 'Ange-ball'? They never stop coming forward, which is why they keep scoring goals.

Son Heung-min is back from the Asian Cup and he will start this week. Tottenham will concede, even with Wolves forward Matheus Cunha out injured, but they are just relentless in attack, and they are going to give someone such a hiding soon.

    Sutton's prediction: 3-1

  16. 'Wolves more effective if opponents come out swinging'published at 11:56 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February

    Tottenham v Wolves (15:00 GMT)

    Mike Taylor
    BBC WM commentator

    Wolves expert view

    We should have known it.

Having allowed Wolves a heady afternoon at Stamford Bridge, on Matheus Cunha's biggest day so far, the sporting gods were at their most cussed last weekend.

Injuries removed first Hwang Hee-chan and then Cunha from the game against Brentford, drawing the teeth from the Wolves attack. Perhaps it demonstrated Cunha's importance to Wolves even more clearly than his hat-trick against Chelsea did, although there was more to the defeat than just that.

Wolves have shown us their best side so regularly this season, especially since Christmas, that we can briefly forget just how much strife most people agreed they were in only six months ago.

They have played to a higher level than most pundits suspected they could, more often than many fans imagined they would.

In such a competitive league, though, only the elite sides can expect to win games when they don't find their highest gears.

In midfield, Wolves are capable of upsetting exalted opponents, but only when they are note-perfect. Until Saturday, they had a blank injury list - a real rarity - and most of their players in form at the same time.

"The group have done an unbelievable job maintaining a high level generally," said Gary O'Neil, taking a positive view without hiding any truths. "I'm absolutely gutted we fell below it and the players will be as well, so we'll use the elation of last week and what we managed to produce compared to how we feel now to make sure we perform better than we did."

On a more technical level, he noted Brentford slowed the game to a pace that suited them to douse Wolves' fire. "There are going to be afternoons in the Premier League where the opposition make it tough, make it slow and we need to find a way to be better at it."

That is perhaps unlikely to be the pattern this weekend, as Tottenham on their own patch will surely set a more aggressive rhythm. Wolves are more effective if the opposition come out swinging, and are happy to counter-punch.

But, while Jean-Ricner Bellegarde and Nathan Fraser - both players of real promise - would benefit from more opportunities, for the moment Cunha and Hwang give Wolves a sharper edge, and news of their fitness will be eagerly awaited.

    Ange PostecoglouImage source, Getty Images

Ange Postecoglou has responded to rumours that he is being considered as replacement for Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool at the end of this season, stating he has "no interest" in the "so-called chat".

He distanced himself from the speculation in his pre-match news conference this afternoon: "I may be on a shortlist but I don't want to say anything about that because I don't think that's ever going to enter my brain space for my priorities in life and in my profession right now."

After joining the club just seven months ago, Postecoglou said his answer to the reported interest should be "pretty self-explanatory".

  18. Spurs full-backs Porro and Udogie both sidelinedpublished at 11:50 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February

    Tottenham v Wolves (15:00 GMT)

Pedro Porro and Destiny Udogie are injured and will miss Tottenham's Premier League match with Wolves, says manager Ange Postecoglou.

Spurs' Australian boss expects Porro, 26, to be fit in a "couple of weeks" after the Spain right-back suffered a muscle strain in training.

Italy left-back Udogie, 21, has a minor knee problem.

Back-up goalkeeper Fraser Forster is also set to be on the sidelines for two months with a fractured foot.

Porro and Udogie's absences on Saturday will mark the first time this season that Spurs have started a match in the English top flight without both of their first-choice full-backs.

"It doesn't change the way we play, but I think I've said in the past a player brings their own sort of unique ability to each position," Postecoglou said.

  19. 'Can't back against Newcastle at home'published at 11:46 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February

    Newcastle v Bournemouth (15:00 GMT)

    Chris Sutton header

Newcastle's results have picked up a bit recently but now there is a lot of talk about their sporting director Dan Ashworth going to Manchester United.

Bournemouth have already beaten them once this season, which was when it all kicked off afterwards as Magpies captain Kieran Trippier had an altercation with his side's fans.

I just can't back against Newcastle at home, though. Their manager Eddie Howe is also facing his old club and he cannot afford to lose to them on his own patch.

Anthony Gordon is fit for the Magpies, and he will be a threat, while Bournemouth's form has dropped off a bit this year after they ended 2023 so well.

    Sutton's prediction: 2-1
