  1. 'We are still focused on top seven finish'published at 17:31 Greenwich Mean Time 24 February 2024

FT: Aston Villa 4-2 Nottingham Forest

    Aston Villa

Aston Villa manager Unai Emery speaking to Sky Sports: "I'm very happy. A fantastic first half - we conceded one corner, one goal, but we dominated the match.

"The second half, we were nervous after the goal, but again we reacted very well. Douglas Luiz was very important, he controlled the ball and we controlled the game."

On his team's character: "More than character I think, it is about being focused in our game plan and trying to keep calm, keep controlling the game like we were doing. Today was a very good experience, adding more positive things for the team.

On challenging for the top four: "It is still the same, if we arrive to game 33 in the same position we maybe look to Champions League, for now it is about being in the top seven positions. We have to always be positive, and focus on each match."

The worry I have for any teams playing Manchester City at the moment is that Erling Haaland is not being supplied as much as last season but he's also underperforming on expected goals which has never happened in his career in a single season.

I just expect him to go on a big, big run.

As a general comparison last season he was scoring a goal every 77 minutes, this season is only 98 minutes but he's just that type of player, as soon as Kevin De Bruyne is fully fit, the hamstring is sorted, he’s just going to go on a massive run.

City slipped up drawing against Chelsea last weekend, but they got by against Brentford and I think they'll start motoring on and becoming a slick City team.

  5. 'A really fantastic first half'published at 17:28 Greenwich Mean Time 24 February 2024

Aston Villa boss Unai Emery talking to BBC Match of the Day: "It was very important. We adapted well at Sheffield United and Fulham after defeats at home but we needed confidence here and a reaction. We are feeling vey comfortable and confident at Villa Park. We more or less deserved to win. We played a really fantastic match in the first half and only the first 15 minutes of the second half we had some doubts but we stayed calm and reacted well.

"We knew before the match that they could play despite our domination in the match. They have very good transitions and some pace players and they could surprise us. We were very careful about that. We didn't concede any transitions in the first half and we only conceded one corner, which they scored form. The maturity and personality we showed after their second goal was superb and then we scored and controlled the game. We have very different ways to threaten the opponent and different teams demand different things."

On Pau Torres, who was taken off at half-time: "He had some pain so that's why we needed to change him."

On Douglas Luiz and his two goals: "It is very good. I am very happy. He is a key player and sometimes we need him to be focused and successful on the pitch. At the start of the second half he lost two balls in the middle of the ball but he reacted very well and he was a key player for us in the final half an hour."

On Leon Bailey: "He is demonstrating his ability and being more consistent. He deserves everything he is showing. We want him to carry on being more consistent."

    Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest defender Neco Williams to Premier League Productions: "It wasn't our day today. First half especially we were poor. Need to look back on it and make sure it doesn't happen again. Second half was better, but unfortunately wasn't enough today.

"They are a top side, away from home is never easy, but it [the defeat] was down to our performance today."

On the triple change at half-time: "Murillo and Felipe were both on yellow cards so no point risking them. It was a tactical one."

On the relegation fight: "We know we have quality in the squad, and the belief. Everyone is so committed to our gameplan each week. There were parts of our game which were really good, but won't take away from the score line."

  8. 'Them scoring at the end is frustrating'published at 17:26 Greenwich Mean Time 24 February 2024

    FT: Brighton 1-1 Everton

    Everton

Everton goal-scorer Jarred Branthwaite, speaking to BBC Sport: "We put in a solid performance. We went 1-0 up and then they went down to 10 men. Then we sat back and invited pressure - them scoring at the end is frustrating.

"They are a good team, with 10 men they could keep the ball. We pressed all game, then they went down to 10 men and we stopped pressing - I don't know what happened."

  9. 'We were naive at the end'published at 17:26 Greenwich Mean Time 24 February 2024

    FT: Man Utd 1-2 Fulham

    Manchester United

Manchester United defender Harry Maguire: "Overall on the balance of play we didn't do enough in the first 60 minutes or so, we started the game not great.

"The first half was pretty even, but when you're not playing at your best you have to do the basics right and set pieces is part of that.

"We knew they would cause us a threat from those areas and they've scored early in the second from what we knew - so that's disappointing on that aspect.

"To be a goal behind, I thought our reaction was brilliant especially in the last 30 minutes and when we equalised probably only one team going to win it.

"We were probably naive in the end by throwing too many bodies forward and getting done on the counter attack.

"We've been on a good run of form and came into the game we were confident."

  10. 'Hojlund has been our focal point'published at 17:25 Greenwich Mean Time 24 February 2024

    Manchester United

Manchester United defender Harry Maguire on how his team were affected by Rasmus Hojlund's absence: "We got hit by the injury to Rasmus, who has been big focal point for us but it is up to us to find the solutions and the areas we need to improve on.

"He has been our focal point, we can play into him, he holds it up, he starts the press really well, not only that but Marcus has been playing really well on the left.

"It's the story of our season, we've been injury hit - as other teams have - and we need to find a solution quick."

  11. 'Man City keep finding a way'published at 17:20 Greenwich Mean Time 24 February 2024

Bournemouth v Man City (17:30 GMT)

Manchester City were a bit ugly in their win over Brentford on Tuesday night, but they got the job done in the end.

I can see something similar happening here, with City having to fight for it but finding a way to win.

Bournemouth have not won since Boxing Day, but they were unlucky not to beat Newcastle last week and they don't appear to be in any relegation danger.

I can see them scoring against City, but they won't have anything else to celebrate.

    Prediction: 1-3

  12. 'It is too easy for the opponent to score'published at 17:19 Greenwich Mean Time 24 February 2024

    FT: Aston Villa 4-2 Forest

    Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest manager Nuno speaking to Match of the Day: "We started very bad, we conceded too easily. This is something we have to improve."

On being cut open down the right: "The attack from both sides, it is our responsibility to solve the problem. We will analyse the game to rectify and improve.

"It is too easy for the opponent to score. We are always able to score, so we need to balance these two parts of the game."

On the second half: "The moment we scored for 3-2, there was a feeling we could go for it. But we conceded, and it was game over."

  13. United 'disappointing' at Old Traffordpublished at 17:18 Greenwich Mean Time 24 February 2024

We may have got ahead of ourselves thinking Man Utd have cracked it, but they haven't controlled games and it is very disappointing.

Two-goal Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz, speaking to Premier League Productions.

On Villa dominating Forest down the right: "We train at this every day, the gaffer helps us so much. The character of Ollie [Watkins] and Leon [Bailey], it is great to have them in my team."

On his performances under Unai Emery: "I just think he has lifted me, it is the truth. He has told me every day, you need to defend, and if you go you need to score."

On nearly scoring a hat-trick: "Nearly! In the second half I needed to push a bit more."

  15. 'A win for the memory bank'published at 17:13 Greenwich Mean Time 24 February 2024

    FT: Man Utd 1-2 Fulham

    Fulham

Fulham matchwinner Alex Iwobi: "I'm over the moon right now to come back into the team and get the win here - there is no better feeling.

"We feel we performed really well and have been performing really well recently, it is just about getting the results."

Did you feel the opportunity had gone when Manchester United equalised? "Nah, because we always had the ability to create chances, we had so many in the final third, it was just about taking them and luckily I was able to take mine at the end."

On Adama Traore's influence in setting up the winner: "We all know he can drive us up the pitch and he's a threat. As soon as he has the ball it is head down for me, sprint towards the goal and he was able to find me.

"I took the touch inside I feel the keeper thought I would wrap it far corner, but I gave him the eyes and put it inside near post."

On what the win will do for Fulham: "This will give us a world of confidence and hopefully kick on. Everyone's emotion is high and we will have to dust down, but it is a confidence boost.

"It's a win for the memory bank."

Bournemouth have changed to be a very competitive and pressing side so that does work against Manchester City in certain games. I think what we saw with Chelsea and how they set and squeezed at certain moments was really impressive.

What Pep Guardiola has created at Manchester City has become so powerful and so good that we just expect them to keep on with this momentum of winning all the silverware of winning Premier Leagues.

I think it would be a slight surprise if they don't win the league and that in itself is exactly what he [Pep] is talking about, there is a level of expectation on City that they will win it year in year out.

Fulham now have some fresh content for social media.

For years they've been rolling out their archive footage of their last win here, back in October 2003.

Manchester United's perfect February of four wins from four comes to an end.

After a week of PR and talking of taking clubs off their perches this is very humbling.
