That performance was exactly the response which Mikel Arteta will have been demanding after the rather toothless display at Porto in midweek.

This was Arsenal back to their snarling, snappy and stylish best tonight.

The Emirates DJ hits play on Abba classic Voulez-Vouz as the Arsenal fans celebrate after the final whistle.

That's a tribute to Bukayo Saka rather than the Swedish supergroup, me thinks.

All over! Another stunning performance from Arsenal - and another statement win.

"We're right behind you," is the message to Liverpool and Manchester City.

Six wins on the bounce for Mikel Arteta's men, who have scored 25 goals in the process.

Emile Smith Rowe is doing his darnest to put the icing on the cake, bobbing and weaving in the left channel but unable to get another shot off.

Newcastle has thrashed Villa twice this season.. both were well deserved. But they are VERY far behind in quality in all areas, players, fans, stadia and especially management. Emery has the edge on Howe every single day of the week. Just hoping he doesn't go to Bayern - would be a miss for the Premier League!

Almost a fifth! Emile Smith Rowe thinks he has broken his duck as he steers a low shot towards the bottom corner.

He didn't expect to see Big Dan Burn appears out of nowhere to hack off his goalline.

Expect commitment to the bitter end on a thoroughly miserable night for the Magpies.

If you’ve got a bare-chested Geordie fan swinging his shirt around his head on a cold London night, tick it off on the bingo card.

Good to see the away end still having fun on what has been a chastening trip to Islington.

Silly talk to suggest Howe should be replaced. Outstanding last year. Loss of momentum and of course players.

    What a goal it was.

Good football all round, really direct from Harvey Barnes then there is the delivery into the box from big Dan Burn - it is a wonderful header from Joe Willock.

Back at his old stomping ground, Joe Willock reminds the Emirates of his talents after being allowed to leave by Mikel Arteta.

It's no more than a consolation, of course, but at least Willock's looping header gives the travelling Newcastle faithful something to cheer.

A lull as the Arsenal players and fans catch breath before Leandro Trossard reignites the energy with some trickery down the left.

A goal for Emile Smith Rowe would take the roof off, I'm sure.

Smith Rowe has had rough luck with injuries and has not scored April 2022 for the Gunners.

The Englishman comes close here but sees a shot blocked and can't quite get a second bite of the cherry.
