It's a lovely spin from Danny Ings and he's looking to find that far corner. He's not too far away.

    Good play from West Ham.

  2. CLOSE!published at 20:04 Greenwich Mean Time 16 January

    Bristol City 1-0 West Ham

Better from West Ham as Danny Ings receives the ball with his back to goal just outside the box. He turns, opens up a bit of space but drives his shot just wide.

    Bristol City 1-0 West Ham

More good movement by Bristol City as the ball is played over the defence for Tommy Conway. He cuts it back for Anis Mehmeti on the edge of the area and he is urged to shoot by the home faithful. He does so, but high and wide.

  6. A glory night for Bolton?published at 20:01 Greenwich Mean Time 16 January

Deafening cheers from the home fans in response to the League One side going ahead, as large flags bearing the Bolton badge are waved.

It's like the midweek Uefa Cup nights of Nicolas Anelka and Jay-Jay Okocha all over again.

GOAL - Birmingham 0-1 Hullpublished at 14 mins

    Jason Lokilo

Hull changed all 11 of their starting line-up from the side beaten 2-1 by Norwich at home on Friday, but they are the one who go in front.

Cornet has been a terrible buy. I've yet to see him have a decent game.

    Bristol City 1-0 West Ham

Some enthusiastic hand movements on the touchline by Bristol City boss Liam Manning but he will be happy with the start his side have had. They are going toe-to-toe with their Premier League opponents and are deservedly ahead.

  10. goal

GOAL - Bolton 1-0 Lutonpublished at 11 mins

    Dion Charles

    League One Bolton strike first.

Dion Charles, who used to play for Southport, is on the end of a cross from the right after a bright burst from Victor Adeboyejo and is there unmarked to side-foot the home side into the lead.

  11. GREAT SAVE!published at 19:58 Greenwich Mean Time 16 January

    Eastleigh 0-1 Newport

Free header for Scot Bennett but Joe McDonnell does well to keep Eastleigh in the tie.

Have nerves got the better of the non-league side? Newport have had a couple of really decent chances since taking the lead.

    Bristol City 1-0 West Ham

A mistake at the back almost lets Said Benrahma in but he tries to do too much by himself, allowing the Bristol City defence to get back and deal with the danger.

    Eastleigh 0-1 Newport

Eastleigh are fighting hard to get back on level terms but that early goal has knocked the stuffing out of the crowd. All the noise is coming from the travelling fans from Wales.

  16. Postpublished at 19:54 Greenwich Mean Time 16 January

    Bristol City 1-0 West Ham

First opportunity for West Ham as they win a corner but the delivery is confidently caught by Max O'Leary, prompting a huge cheer from the home fans.

  17. Postpublished at 19:53 Greenwich Mean Time 16 January

    Bolton 0-0 Luton

Luton have made a bright start in Bolton and Carlton Morris just can't get on the end of a cross as the hosts hack it behind.

The Hatters then get a couple of corners from the right, but Gabriel Osho's header from the second of them goes well wide.

Bristol City did bully West Ham at times, I think this could continue tonight.

  19. Postpublished at 19:53 Greenwich Mean Time 16 January

    Bristol City 1-0 West Ham

Regardless of the early goal this has been a very bright start by Bristol City, although there are some big gaps in the Championship side's defence that West Ham could take advantage of.

  20. 'What a start for Bristol City'published at 19:51 Greenwich Mean Time 16 January

    Bristol City 1-0 West Ham

    Danny Gabbidon
    Former Wales defender on BBC

What a start for Bristol City. Initially it looked like West Ham might get in down the other end.

It was the tale of two bad back passes.
