GOAL - Bristol City 1-0 West Hampublished at 19:49 Greenwich Mean Time 16 January

    Tommy Conway (Three mins)

What a start for the Championship side!

West Ham initially had a moment as Maxwel Cornet looked to be in but a big clearance by Max O'Leary falls to Konstantinos Mavropanos, whose poor back pass sells his goalkeeper short and Tommy Conway takes full advantage, skipping past Lukasz Fabianski and slotting into the empty net.

    Huge noise here!

Both sets of fans are giving it their all here and it is making for an excellent atmosphere on a cold night in Bristol. No chances as yet, however, as both sides ease their way into the game.

After shaking hands, the two teams came together holding a black shirt with Purslow and the number 71 on the back.

There was no music played over the PA for a few minutes before the teams came out, and the minute's silence was impeccably observed by everyone inside the stadium in memory of Iain Purslow.

  4. goal

GOAL - Eastleigh 0-1 Newportpublished at 19:48 Greenwich Mean Time 16 January

    Aaron Wildig

Way too easy for the League Two club!

Newport have come flying out of the blocks and make a quick-fire breakthrough as Will Evans makes a fantastic run into the box before playing it to Aaron Wildig who rounds keeper Joe McDonnell to score.

The stadium announcer confirmed a VAR check was taking place on that Nathan Collins goal, which was fair enough.

He then confirmed a goal had been given.

As Wolves had already restarted the game, I think we might have worked that one out.

Communication to the fans in the ground needs to be better.

This is how Eastleigh forced a replay against Newport despite playing with 10 men for more than 50 minutes.

They have already earned around £120,000 in prize money for getting this far plus an additional £60,000 in TV money.

That is nothing compared to the money they will rake in if they get to host Manchester United in the fourth round.

Wolves have started this game on the front foot without creating a clear opening yet.

Joe Hodge just mis-controlled inside the penalty area, when he might have had a shooting chance.

It momentarily halted the Wolves' fans anti-West Brom songs anyway.

It will be such a let down for them if the home side don't make it through.

  12. 'The focus and attitude needs to be right'published at 19:38 Greenwich Mean Time 16 January

    Bolton v Luton (19:45 GMT)

    Luton Town

Luton manager Rob Edwards said he will field a strong team with an eye on the fourth round and a trip to either Crystal Palace or Everton, who play on Wednesday.

“We have the opportunity to (make changes) but we will select a side capable of winning the game and one which will go into game with the right mentality,” Edwards said.

“Bolton are a good team, especially at home, they’ll fancy they can win the game, and why not? They came to our place and drew and performed well. We’ll respect them and prepare accordingly.

“But it doesn’t matter what team I pick, we need the right mentality to be on it.

“To be honest, it’s human nature to get up for Premier League games but the focus and attitude needs to be right for the cup games – and that’s what the message has been. It’s a game we’re looking forward to.”

FA Cup: Newport boss Graham Coughlan recalls childhood memories watching Manchester United

Newport County boss Graham Coughlan has been recalling his time as a childhood Manchester United fan as the Welsh club look to book an FA Cup meeting against the Premier League side.

Coughlan's Newport side face National League Eastleigh in a third-round replay, with the winners hosting Erik ten Hag's side in the fourth round.

Television coverage means reaching the fourth round could be worth some £400,000 to League Two Newport.

  14. 'Hopefully we can get the job done'published at 19:34 Greenwich Mean Time 16 January

Bristol City v West Ham (19:45 GMT)

    West Ham United

West Ham boss David Moyes, speaking to BBC One: "We're going to try the best we can and hopefully we can get it over the line tonight."

On recent injuries: "We've hardly had an injury all season so I don't know if we're riddled with bad luck. We've got a couple of boys away at the African Cup of Nations."

On potential upset: "I don't know if you would call Bristol City a complete upset, they are a good Championship side and played well in the first match."

  15. Wolves fans don't like West Brompublished at 19:33 Greenwich Mean Time 16 January

Kick-off brought anti West Brom chants from the home supporters.

That's four in a row in the first two minutes.

If Wolves get through, the atmosphere at the Hawthorns in 12 days' time will be pretty intense.

  16. 'We deserve this replay'published at 19:32 Greenwich Mean Time 16 January

Bristol City v West Ham (19:45 GMT)

    Bristol City

Bristol City manager Liam Manning, speaking to BBC One: "They had a few injuries in the game against us. The level of focus we showed against on them on that day, we have to make sure we're at that same level."

Focus for replay: "Performance wise we definitely deserved the replay at least. We need to make sure our level of focus is at its maximum and then work from that."

On time at West Ham: "It feels like a long time ago but it was a fantastic four years. Nothing but respect for the club."

FA Cup: Wolves' Tommy Doyle equalises with an 'absolute rocket'

You may have seen reported on this website only three weeks ago that the Premier League's projected calendar for next season appears to have squeezed out any room for FA Cup replays beyond the third round.

That would be a response to the chorus of managers complaining about the inconvenience of putting their players through another game - rather than rest, or training time at home or abroad.

You'll have your own view, but there didn’t seem to be too many complaints from Wolves about the prospect of facing Brentford again.

Their vigorous response in the second half underlined their commitment to the game and therefore the competition, and after Tommy Doyle's splendid goal they seemed the team more likely to force a win until the final moments.

Look, I am not going to pretend the atmosphere at Molineux is at its most vibrant, no matter what prize is at stake.

But Wolves do a brilliant light show.

And there is the eerie projection of a wolf staring down from the scoreboard, which is unsettling in itself.
