  2. Stats against the Buddiespublished at 13:25 Greenwich Mean Time 27 January

    HT: St Mirren 0-1 Rangers

St Mirren might be unfortunate to be behind, but this stat is perhaps an ominous one...

Rangers are unbeaten in their last 81 Premiership matches when leading at half-time, dating back to February 2020.

  3. 'St Mirren the better team'published at 13:23 Greenwich Mean Time 27 January

    HT: St Mirren 0-1 Rangers

    David van Zanten
Former St Mirren defender on BBC Sportsound

I've been really impressed with St Mirren.

They've probably been the better team and responded brilliantly.

  4. Hibs sign Moriah-Welsh to replace Jeggopublished at 13:21 Greenwich Mean Time 27 January

Hibernian have acted quickly to replace outgoing midfielder Jimmy Jeggo by signing Bournemouth's Nathan Moriah-Welsh on a two-and-a-half year deal.

The Guyana international, 21, spent time in the academies of Chelsea, Reading and Brentford before joining Bournemouth, where he made two first team appearances in the FA Cup.

Australian international Jeggo is leaving the Edinburgh club to head back to Australia, with Melbourne City his likely destination.

Hibs, who have signed Moriah-Welsh for an undisclosed fee, have also been linked with Bournemouth centre-back Owen Bevan.

  5. HALF-TIME St Mirren 0-1 Rangerspublished at 13:18 Greenwich Mean Time 27 January

Rangers are on their way to narrowing the gap at the top of the table to two points - but it's not been easy.

Cyriel Dessers' 12th goal of the season should have calmed the visitors' nerves, but St Mirren have had the better of the chances.

  6. Postpublished at 13:16 Greenwich Mean Time 27 January

    St Mirren 0-1 Rangers

Great chance for Cyriel Dessers to score or set up the second.

The Nigerian striker out-muscles Alex Gogic and gets to the by-line inside the home penalty box.

However, the scorer of the only goal so far fires his attempt at a cut back to a couple of team-mates off the St Mirren defender's legs.

  7. GOOD SAVE!published at 13:10 Greenwich Mean Time 27 January

    St Mirren 0-1 Rangers

St Mirren continue to threaten - much to the anger of Philippe Clement, with the Rangers manager remonstrating on the touchline.

Kwon Hyeok-kyu fires a low, 20-yard drive that takes a slight deflection before it is turned wide by goalkeeper Jack Butland.

  9. Postpublished at 13:06 Greenwich Mean Time 27 January

    St Mirren 0-1 Rangers

St Mirren continue to press and Rangers have to clear a dangerous Greg Kiltie corner.

This is certainly not comfortable for Philippe Clement's visitors.

  10. 'St Mirren creating best chances'published at 13:03 Greenwich Mean Time 27 January

    St Mirren 0-1 Rangers

    Kenny Miller
Former Rangers striker on BBC Sportsound

You have to say, Rangers have the possession, but St Mirren have had the better chances in the game so far.

  11. GREAT SAVE!published at 13:03 Greenwich Mean Time 27 January

    St Mirren 0-1 Rangers

    Another opportunity for Lewis Jamieson.

It falls to the St Mirren 12 yards from goal, but his strike is straight at Jack Butland and the goalkeeper blocks clear with his legs.

The flag was up for offside in the build-up, but the TV replay suggests that might have been overruled had that gone in.

  12. Strong Buddies responsepublished at 13:01 Greenwich Mean Time 27 January

    St Mirren 0-1 Rangers

    Martin Dowden
    BBC Scotland at SMISA Stadium

It's been a really positive reaction to falling behind from St Mirren.

They ought to be level with Kwon's chance begging to be buried, but they have managed to exert some pressure on the Rangers backline and minimise their threat.

    Encouraging for the home support.

  13. Postpublished at 13:00 Greenwich Mean Time 27 January

    St Mirren 0-1 Rangers

Lewis Jamieson fancies his chances with the free-kick.

However, the young forward's curling drive is well wide. Wasteful for the hosts not to even test goalkeeper Jack Butland.

  14. Postpublished at 12:58 Greenwich Mean Time 27 January

    St Mirren 0-1 Rangers

Jonah Ayunga is felled clumsily by Connor Goldson on the edge of the Rangers penalty just as the big striker was looking to unleash a drive at goal.

    Big chance for the hosts.

  15. Nice one Cyrielpublished at 12:55 Greenwich Mean Time 27 January

    St Mirren 0-1 Rangers

It is now three goals in three games for Cyriel Dessers - and the Rangers striker is now up to 12 goals in all competitions for the season.

  16. Rangers early control pays dividendspublished at 12:54 Greenwich Mean Time 27 January

    St Mirren 0-1 Rangers

    Martin Dowden
    BBC Scotland at SMISA Stadium

Cyriel Dessers is really stepping up for Rangers. His scoring rate has significantly improved and this one enitirely changes the complexion of this contest.

Stephen Robinson will bemoan the nature of it though. Too simple to breach the defence and the hesitation from Hemming was crucial.

St Mirren will need to adapt to create a threat. Rangers aren't conceding many these days.

  17. Postpublished at 12:53 Greenwich Mean Time 27 January

    St Mirren 0-1 Rangers

Rangers are so close to a second.

James Tavernier, the right-back goal machine, nearly adds another with a low 28-yard drive just wide.

  18. Postpublished at 12:52 Greenwich Mean Time 27 January

    St Mirren 0-1 Rangers

Another dangerous St Mirren cross has the Rangers defence looking vulnerable.

It falls to Kwon Hyeok-kyu around the penalty spot, but the on loan Celtic midfielder fires wastefully over.

You would have heard a large cheer from the east end of Glasgow if that had gone in!

  19. Postpublished at 12:50 Greenwich Mean Time 27 January

    St Mirren 0-1 Rangers

St Mirren have a chance to hit back immediately thanks to a dangerous Scott Tanser cross.

Elvis Bwomono has a sight of goal, but the Uganda full-back signed from IBV can only volley weakly into the ground and it is a simple save for goalkeeper Jack Butland.

  20. 'Hemming hesitates but credit to Dessers'published at 12:48 Greenwich Mean Time 27 January

    St Mirren 0-1 Rangers

    Kenny Miller
Former Rangers striker on BBC Sportsound

Hemming just hesitates. He should come and take that ball.

Take nothing away from Dessers, he takes a touch, takes it round the keeper and it's into the net.

    Another goal for Dessers.
