    St Mirren 0-0 Rangers

After that initial commanding spell from Rangers, St Mirren are now giving as good as their getting.

Stephen Robinson's side are looking comfortable as they look to recover from a spell during which they have slipped down the table in recent weeks.

That was St Mirren's first chance to counter, but there's just too much on Kwon's pass.

You can see how compact St Mirren are. This will be tough for Rangers to break down.

    St Mirren 0-0 Rangers

As expected, Rangers are dominating possession and territory.

However, St Mirren have a chance to break only for on-loan Celtic midfielder Kwon Hyeok-kyu to send a wayward pass out wide.

We wondered where Dujon Sterling would be playing today.

Perhaps surprisingly, the former Chelsea defender, who has operated recently in a holding midfield role, is wide on the left up front!

    St Mirren v Rangers (12:30)

Rangers have kept eight clean sheets in their last 10 away matches in the Premiership.

Indeed, in the top 10 European leagues, only Eredivisie outfit PSV have conceded fewer league goals on the road (3) this season than Rangers (4).

Will Rangers get those three points to narrow the gap with Celtic? Thumbs up for yes below. Thumbs down for no.

    St Mirren v Rangers (12:30)

St Mirren are looking to end a four-game losing streak against Rangers in which they have failed to find the net in the latest three meetings.

Indeed, they have not beaten the Glasgow side in 11 meetings since a 3-2 League Cup success in Paisley in December 2020.

And Stephen Robinson has never beaten the Ibrox side in 18 attempts as a Premiership manager - losing 14 - across spells with Motherwell and St Mirren.

  13. Difficult conditions for flowing footballpublished at 12:17 Greenwich Mean Time 27 January

    St Mirren v Rangers (12:30)

    Martin Dowden
    BBC Scotland at SMISA Stadium

Rangers have been relentlessly consistent against every team outside Celtic since Philippe Clement took charge. There's a confidence about them, with a willingness to put faith in the squad and make changes given the domestic and European schedule that awaits.

Their record against St Mirren is so strong. Stephen Robinson has recruited to add strength that comes from the bench for this one and will hope that well-documented home strength aids their cause.

Conditions are very tricky though, with a low winter sun, swirling wind and less than perfect surface. That may make free-flowing football difficult.

  14. St Mirren 'have to believe' - Robinsonpublished at 12:15 Greenwich Mean Time 27 January

    St Mirren v Rangers (12:30)

St Mirren manager Stephen Robinson tells BBC Scotland his side will be more positive than they were last time out against Rangers.

"You have to to believe," the Northern Irishman tells BBC Scotland. "We defended well at Ibrox but didn't press to win the ball or believe we could create things.

"We've got players on the bench who can hurt Rangers. We believe we can get points today.

"We need to take the game to them when we land on the ball."

  15. 'Logical to rotate' - Clement on his Rangers XIpublished at 12:13 Greenwich Mean Time 27 January

    St Mirren v Rangers (12:30)

Rangers manager Philippe Clement tis expecting his side to face defensively minded hosts in Paisley.

"We know it's a team who will make a wall and fight for transitions, so it's a really challenging game," the Belgian tells BBC Scotland.

"You can't totally change your style because then you'll play kick and rush and that's not us. It's about us having a good mindset.

"All the guys who play today have had good games for Rangers. We will have a tough schedule with a lot of games. I need all my squad. It's logical to rotate."

    St Mirren v Rangers (12:30)

St Mirren are boosted by the return of midfielder Mark O'Hara and the captain is one of two changes following last weekend's Scottish Cup win over Queen of the South.

Forward Lewis Jamieson also comes in and replaces Conor McMenamin, whose knee injury will keep him out for a few weeks, while Caolan Boyd-Munce drops to the bench.

New signings James Scott, the former Motherwell striker on loan from Exeter City, and Jaden Brown, the on-loan Lincoln City left-back, are on the bench.
