    Brighton 0-0 Liverpool

Chance for Brighton to counter as Sophie Baggaley confidently comes out to claim Marie-Therese Hobinger's free-kick from the left.

She throws it out quickly with Brighton shorts flying forward from all angles.

However, Liverpool get players back to slow the attack's momentum.

Grave Fisk lofts a ball into the Brighton box and it causes a bit of panic.

    Brighton 0-0 Liverpool

Both teams are committed to playing out from the back and Liverpool nearly get themselves in a bit of trouble doing so.

However, goalkeeper Rachael Laws shows good composure and, with Elisabeth Terland closing her down quickly, picks out a pinpoint pass to the left wing.

It has been a relatively even game so far.

I have been impressed with Brighton, they have looked so expansive going forward. The danger of that though is that you leave yourself exposed at the back. When you play expansively you need to make sure to get the goals to get yourself in front.

Liverpool look very dangerous on set pieces, corners especially, and Brighton have struggled to pick up Sophie Roman-Haug in the box.

    Brighton 0-0 Liverpool

Fuka Nagano wins the ball smartly for Liverpool in the midfield and they work the ball out to Jasmine Matthews on the left.

Her cross is far too close to Sophie Baggaley and the Brighton keeper takes it comfortably.

That is what passes for action in this game at the moment, I'm afraid, folks.

    Brighton 0-0 Liverpool

Brighton have a free-kick following a nasty clash of heads between Poppy Pattinson and Emma Koivisto.

That will give the two managers a chance to talk things over with their players.

There hasn't been much between the sides so far.

    Brighton 0-0 Liverpool

It's Liverpool's turn to threaten now with a good, deep cross from Mel Lawley.

It beats the stretching Sophie Roman Haug at the back post but is kept in by Jasmine Matthews.

She puts the ball back into the middle and Marie-Therese Hobinger is free in the middle but doesn't get the connection she wants and her shot is blocked.

Elisabeth Terland takes aim from outside the box, hits the shot cleanly but the ball just whistles wide.

It might even have brushed the post on the way through. Not far away at all.

    This is better from Brighton.

Another good cross comes in from the left from Poppy Pattinson but it goes all the way through.

Katie Robinson retrieves it and wins a corner for the home side. But it comes to nothing.

Brighton win the ball well in the midfield and the ball is played over the top for Elisabeth Terland.

Grace Fisk comes across well though to sweep up for Liverpool.

  16. Postpublished at 12:10 Greenwich Mean Time 18 February 2024

    Brighton 0-0 Liverpool

The home fans aren't happy as Liverpool are given a free-kick in a dangerous position. It looked soft.

Central, around 25 yards out. But Marie-Therese Hobinger hits it straight into the wall.

Marie-Therese Hobinger takes Liverpool's second corner of the game and again it is a red shirt on the end of it.

It's Sophie Roman Haug again but this time the header goes just wide of the near post.

Liverpool win a corner in the opening minute of the match and it's a good delivery from Melissa Lawley.

Sophoe Roman Haug gets her head on it but is stretching to reach it and can't generate the power to trouble Sophie Baggaley in the Brighton goal.
