I can't think of a club who has signed a real "difference maker". Someone who has the ability to turnaround or transform a season.

Norwich City have signed striker Sydney van Hooijdonk from Italian club Bologna on loan for the rest of the season.

The 23-year-old is the son of Pierre van Hooijdonk, who played for Celtic and Nottingham Forest in the 1990s and won 46 caps for the Netherlands.

Van Hooijdonk has made 11 appearances for Bologna this season, scoring once, having spent much of the last two campaigns on loan at Heerenveen.

He is Norwich's first signing of the January transfer window.

Wolves' Joe Hodge has now completed a loan move to Championship side QPR until the end of the season.

  7. 'January is not the best time to integrate with a new side'published at 23:10 Greenwich Mean Time 1 February

    Nedum Onuoha
Former Manchester City defender on The Football News Show

I only had one move in January and that was from Manchester City who were winning the league to QPR who were fighting relegation so it was a bit of a change you could say.

Getting to learn about your team-mates when you are also fighting fires in real time, it's not the best time to integrate with a new side. Things weren't great. When you're winning games it's far easier but we weren't in that position.

It was tough and then making the adjustment and stuff with family halfway through the season but again it's something you have to do if you want to find football.

I was going somewhere to try and find more football, if you're someone who is being signed because you are the pinnacle then maybe it is different but that wasn't the experience for me.

  8. 'Sels a true solider for us'published at 23:07 Greenwich Mean Time 1 February

Nottingham Forest sign goalkeeper Matz Sels from Strasbourg

Strasbourg president Marc Keller has praised Matz Sels on the announcement of his move to Nottingham Forest.

The Belgium international joined the French club in 2018 from Newcastle.

"I would like to thank Matz who has been a true soldier for us all these years," says Keller (via Google Translate).

"He was an exemplary goalkeeper and captain. But after almost six seasons here, he wanted a new challenge and expressed the wish to try his luck again in England.

"Matz has always been impeccable with the club. We now wish him the best for the rest of his career. He will remain in the legend of Racing."

That's it, the English transfer deadline has closed.

But if you've followed deadline days before you'll know that there could - nay there will - be some more signings to come.

As long as clubs have a 'deal sheet' in with the Premier League at 23:00 GMT they have a bit longer to get it finished.

New West Ham signing Kalvin Phillips had a debut to forget when he passed the ball straight to Dominic Solanke who put Bournemouth in front inside three minutes in their 1-1 draw tonight.

"It will take four or five games for West Ham players to get to know how Kalvin Phillips plays.

"Phillips will be disappointed he didn't play longer tonight and they didn't get a win.

"He has not started fantastically, but he is a real fighter and I believe in him."

Fulham are still working on completing the final details of Armando Broja’s loan move from Chelsea but no problems are expected for what manager Marco Silva sees as an important signing for the rest of this season.

It is understood the loan fee will be £4m, which allowed the door to open on a deal Fulham felt was a little too rich for them earlier in the day.

The 22-year-old is rated at about £50m by Chelsea but there was no chance of anyone offering that during the January transfer window so the Slough-born Albania international is set to spend the remainder of this campaign across west London at Craven Cottage.

  17. Celtic sign Norwich's Idah on loanpublished at 22:39 Greenwich Mean Time 1 February

"It’s such a huge club with such a big history behind it and I can’t even put into words what it’s like to be at Celtic," said Idah.

"My family and my friends are all delighted that I’m here and I just can’t wait to get started. All of us back home support Celtic so it’s huge for me and I’m so excited to be here."
