  1. Cheltenham sign striker Taylorpublished at 20:23 Greenwich Mean Time 1 February

League One Cheltenham have signed striker Matty Taylor from local neighbours Forest Green Rovers.

The 33-year-old only joined the EFL's bottom team in the summer after leaving Oxford United but moves up a division after just two goals.

  2. Man Utd in non-league loan dealpublished at 20:19 Greenwich Mean Time 1 February

    BBC Sport

On the quietest of deadline days, United have loaned four of their kids to local non-league clubs in a unique arrangement.

Sam Murray and Sam Mather are joining National League Rochdale, Sonny Aljofree is heading to Altrincham, who are also in the National League, whilst goalkeeper Tom Wooster is signing for Northern Premier League outfit Macclesfield.

All four will continue to train and be free to play for United’s Under-21s team but will couple that with gaining experience of 'adult' football.

Maxi Oyedele and Joe Hugill were part of the scheme last season and have since gone on to agree more orthodox loan spells with Forest Green Rovers and Burton Albion respectively during the current window.

  4. Wilder criticises perceived bias from officialspublished at 20:14 Greenwich Mean Time 1 February

Chris Wilder feels referee's are against Sheffield United

While we're waiting for some more transfer news, here's one of the most bizarre stories on our site today.

Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder says he has to speak up on behalf of the club about perceived bias against the Blades from match officials.

After Tuesday's 3-2 loss at Crystal Palace, he described referee Tony Harrington's performance as "ridiculous".

He also criticised one of the officials for a "lack of respect", saying: "I'm not just going to go under the radar and not say anything. I've been to see the referee and I've told him that.

"One of his assistants was eating a sandwich at the time, which I thought was a complete lack of respect. Hopefully he enjoyed his sandwich while he was talking to a Premier League manager."

  5. 'Amount of players Forest have is insane'published at 20:11 Greenwich Mean Time 1 February

It is interesting with Forest because with their financial fair play situation you wondered what were they going to do and how they were going to do it.

Goalkeepers have been mentioned with them over the last few days but they have gone for Rodrigo Ribeiro and Giovanni Reyna too, but he is just a loan. That [Reyna] seems like a good signing even if there is no option to buy.

It is interesting that he has not been playing for Dortmund for this season because it went so well for him early in his career.

I think he will fit in well at Forest. They have Morgan Gibbs-White who can fill in where they have brought in youngsters. Anthony Elanga has done really well down the right-hand side and they are strong in attacking positions.

All the same, it is just insane the amount of players Forest have got.

  6. Hodge to join QPR after Wolves gamepublished at 20:07 Greenwich Mean Time 1 February

Wolves midfielder Joe Hodge is set to join QPR on loan for the rest of the season.

The 21-year-old is on the bench for Wolves’ Premier League encounter with Manchester United right now but will complete the switch immediately afterwards.

Hodge has only made two appearances so far this season, most recently in the FA Cup third-round replay against Brentford on 16 January.

The Republic of Ireland Under-21 international is keen to play more often and manager Gary O’Neil has agreed to this.

  7. Egan-Riley joins PSVpublished at 20:04 Greenwich Mean Time 1 February

    Burnley

Burnley defender CJ Egan-Riley has joined Eredivisie side PSV Eindhoven on loan until the end of the season.

The 21-year-old moved to Turf Moor in the summer of 2022 after joining from Manchester City and spent the second half his first season on loan at Hibernian.

Midfielder Adam Wharton has left boyhood club Blackburn Rovers to sign for Crystal Palace for an initial fee of £18m.

  11. Forest made Kelleher approachpublished at 19:48 Greenwich Mean Time 1 February

    Mandeep Sanghera
    BBC Sport

Nottingham Forest's search for a keeper is understood to have resulted in them making an approach for Liverpool keeper Caoimhin Kelleher.

The City Ground side were looking to pay about £15m for the 25-year-old but that was way short of any valuation the Reds have for the Republic of Ireland international.

On top of that, the fact that Kelleher is not for sale anyway didn't help Forest's cause.

Kelleher, who joined Liverpool in 2015, has made 12 appearances for the Reds this season.

Forest were also interested in Crystal Palace's Sam Johnstone but have now agreed a fee of about £5m with Strasbourg for their Belgian keeper Matz Sels.

As a Liverpool fan, I don’t think any January signing will beat Luis Suarez. Still remember his media presentation with Andy Carroll like it was yesterday. Mainly for having his shirt tucked into his tracksuit bottoms!

If Bournemouth have now signed Unal, I wonder if there is a deal done for Solanke to go somewhere that will be announced? Man Utd need a striker - it would certainly liven up Deadline Day.

    Dominic

Dominic Solanke has just scored for Bournemouth against West Ham. It feels unlikely he's moving anywhere tonight.

  15. Traore to swap Villa for Villarrealpublished at 19:31 Greenwich Mean Time 1 February

Aston Villa forward Bertrand Traore is set to join La Liga side Villarreal on a free transfer after terminating his contract.

Villa signed Traore, 28, from Lyon for £17m in September 2020 but he has had mixed fortunes with form and fitness since arriving in the Premier League and was told he could leave by manager Unai Emery.

Traore, who started his senior career at Chelsea, figured regularly after being signed by then manager Dean Smith but struggled for game time under his successor Steven Gerrard and subsequently Emery.

The Burkina Faso international signed a season-long loan with Istanbul Basaksehir in August 2022 after being marginalised at Villa. Now reports in Spain suggest he is on the verge of moving to Villarreal, who are currently 14th in the Spanish top flight.

I don't think I've known a transfer deadline day to be this quiet. As an Arsenal fan bit surprised at the Sousa transfer to Villa. If Plymouth wanted him on loan why didn't we just send him?

Ipswich Town have signed big Wales striker Kieffer Moore on loan from Bournemouth.

The 31-year-old previously played for Ipswich between 2017 and 2018.

"It’s great to finally get it over the line because it’s been a long time coming during the window,” he said.

“I remember my first spell here and I’ve gone away and worked very hard on myself during that time, so I’m delighted to be back and can’t wait to get going.

“I was really excited when I spoke to everyone here and now I just want to meet the group, get out on the pitch and contribute.”

Marcus Rashford starts for Manchester United in their Premier League fixture at Wolves.

Manager Erik ten Hag says he considers the "case closed" and Rashford has "taken responsibility".
