    "Mason [Holgate]'s desire to come here and join our fight is huge for me," said Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder.

    ""He's got a point to prove, he's a local lad who knows what Sheffield United are all about, he has his finger on the pulse and knows what to expect here.

    "He's got valuable Premier League experience and can play all across the back which gives us options.

    Everton defender Mason Holgate has ended his loan spell at Southampton six months early... so he can join Sheffield United on loan until the end of the season.

    The 27-year-old only made seven appearances for the Saints.

    Newcastle midfielder Isaac Hayden has joined Championship side Queens Park Rangers on loan for the remainder of the season.

    Hayden, 28, spent the first half of the campaign with Belgian club Standard Liege, where he made 11 league appearances.

    He has played 171 times in all competitions for Newcastle since joining from Arsenal in July 2016 and spent last season on loan in the second tier with Norwich City.

    Rangers have signed Lens winger Oscar Cortes on loan with an option to make the deal permanent.

    The 20-year-old joined the Ligue 1 club for £4m last summer from Colombian outfit Millanarios but has since made only made four appearances, scoring one against Reims.

    Cortes made his international debut in June as a substitute against Iraq.

    He is Rangers' third addition of the transfer window.

    Former Motherwell striker Kevin van Veen has joined Kilmarnock on loan from Groningen for the rest of the season.

    Kilmarnock were keen on a return for the 32-year-old, who signed for the Dutch second tier side after scoring 29 goals last season.

    St Mirren also made an approach for Van Veen, who was among the four nominees for PFA Premiership player of the year.

    He scored five goals in 15 appearances for Groningen but has not featured since November.

    The Dutchman hit 40 goals in 83 games during his time at Motherwell after moving on a free transfer from Scunthorpe in July 2021.

    Wycombe Wanderers have signed left-back Saxon Earley on loan from Championship side Plymouth Argyle for the rest of the season.

    The 21-year-old, who can also play in midfield, joined Plymouth last January from Stevenage.

    He played nine games as the Pilgrims won the League One title but has only played twice this term, with both of those games in August.

    Brighton confirm the signing of midfielder Josh Robertson from Sunderland, for undisclosed terms.

    The 18-year-old joins us on a three-and-a-half-year contract.

    "We're delighted to welcome Josh to the club and are looking forward to working with him," said men's under-21s head coach Shannon Ruth.

    "He's had a really good education with Sunderland, which was rewarded with his Premier League 2 debut earlier this season.

    "He's demonstrated his ability to play in a variety of attacking roles, while also showing his goalscoring threat. We believe he will fit in well with our style of play which will also allow him to show his strengths.

    “He will join our under-21 squad and we are excited to see how he progresses in our environment."

    Liverpool defender Billy Koumetio has joined Blackburn Rovers on loan until the end of the season, subject to international clearance.

    Koumetio joined Liverpool in 2018 from Orleans FC and has made two senior appearances, having made his debut in the Champions League fixture at FC Midtjylland back in December 2020.

    The 21-year-old spent the first half of this season in France with Ligue 2 outfit USL Dunkerque before returning to Liverpool last month.

    Championship side West Bromwich Albion have signed Celtic and Republic of Ireland winger Mikey Johnston on loan for the rest of the season.

    The 24-year-old, who has played 92 times for Celtic, said: "I want to hit the ground running and make an impact right away.

    "I think the deal has been rumbling on since the start of the window, so I’m just happy to get it over the line."

    Baggies boss Carlos Corberan said: "He is a player with European and international football experience as a winger and, if needed, he also has the qualities required to play as a number 10."

    On a Barcelona theme they have signed Vitor Roque, a Brazilian international who they signed a few months back, but decided to keep him in Brazil with Athletico Paranaense.

    Now Barcelona have brought him in and because the financial fair play rules are so tight they have only been allowed to sign him because Gavi is injured.

    Roque is an exciting striker who scores goals.

    He has an electricity about him, he came on and scored within 73 seconds [in his debut]. You will be seeing much more of him in the coming months.

    League Two promotion chasers Notts County have signed striker Alassana Jatta from Danish top-flight side Viborg for an undisclosed fee.

    The 25-year-old Gambian moves to Notts County on a two-and-a-half-year deal from a club owners Alexander and Christoffer Reedtz also have a majority share in.
