    Leanne Kiernan

It's a really scrappy goal but Liverpool will take it.

Mackenzie Arnold comes out to smother the ball but she is under pressure and it breaks free for Leanne Kiernan.

The forward then has the simple task of tucking into the empty net.

    Better from the hosts.

They are down to 10 with Sofie Lundgaard still off the pitch, but that does't stop them patiently building.

Leanne Kiernan finds some space and is able to get a shot off. It takes a little nick on the way through and Mackenzie Arnold just about gets it over her bar.

    The corner comes to nothing.

    Brighton 0-0 Man City

    Gilly Flaherty
Former Arsenal and England defender on BBC Two

The win in November will give confidence to Brighton coming into this game. When you get a result against a team like this then it shows you that you can do it.

I watched that game and Brighton had a good game plan, they didn't have many chances but they punished City when they did arrive.

There has to be a response from City today. It has been a tough week for the club being knocked out of both cup competitions, then Chelsea have won on Friday night [against Arsenal] too.

They have to get a result today because the WSL is the only thing they have left to challenge for.

Brighton v Man City (12:30 GMT)

    Fern Whelan
Former England and Brighton defender on BBC Two

First and foremost Brighton can take their win from the reverse game [into today], and a clean sheet, which they have yet to do again since in the league this season.

They need to do what they did that day again today, be resolute in defence. They came under a lot of pressure in that game but Sophie Baggaley was fantastic, and they will be calling on her again today.

They also need to take their chances, they don't get many against these top teams so they need to take them when they come.

  17. Postpublished at 12:28 Greenwich Mean Time 17 March 2024

Brighton v Man City (12:30 GMT)

    Anita Asante
Former England defender on BBC Two

There will be huge pressure on Man City today. They will be disappointed that they went out to Chelsea in the League Cup and lost to Spurs om penalties in the FA Cup.

It is about not allowing those results to impact their confidence, they have been in great form in the league, Bunny Shaw is in great shooting form, and they will be keen to continue that.

  20. 'We have to be firing on all cylinders'published at 12:25 Greenwich Mean Time 17 March 2024

Brighton v Man City (12:30 GMT)

    Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton interim boss Mikey Harris explains Pauline Bremers absence to BBC Sport: "Unfortunately Pauline pulled out of training this week, nothing too serious but she wasn’t able to make the game today which is a big blow for us. She’s a big player for us and would have loved to play in today’s game."

On what the win over Man City earlier in the season does for confidence: "It gives that group of players the evidence that they can win today. We’re under no illusions of the challenge of the task, Man City are in fantastic form. They have been excellent all season so we have to be at out best today. We have to be firing on all cylinders and I’m confident that we can be."

On targets for the rest of the season: "Our biggest targets are performance-related. We want to play with an identity and a style that matches that of the football club. We’re very early on in that journey so we are working really hard to be a little bit better each day. As I’ve said, with the quality we have within the group we should be looking up the table and looking to finish as high as we possibly can. Hopefully we can get a positive result today that will contribute towards that."
