  1. Bournemouth expecting a Blades backlash?published at 14:42 Greenwich Mean Time 9 March

Just spoken to Andoni Iraola for his pre-match interview and he told me that Dominic Solanke trained well yesterday, so he didn’t have too many concerns about starting him today.

He also said his Bournemouth team will have to be better than they were at Burnley last week to win today. I think he’s prepped his players to expect a Blades backlash.

Bournemouth did not have it all their own way when they beat Burnley last week but I am expecting them to find it a lot easier against Sheffield United.

If things don't go well for them, Cherries fans can blame me, because I am triple-captaining their striker Dominic Solanke in my Fantasy Football team this weekend.

After this game, they play another side from the bottom three, Luton, at home in a rearranged game on Wednesday. So, my thinking is they have a chance of a cricket score in the next few days... but, because I am captaining him, Solanke probably won't score and will get injured too, while Bournemouth will lose.

Something will have to go badly wrong if they are beaten here, though. Blades boss Chris Wilder said his players were 'broken' after their latest heavy defeat, 6-0 at home to Arsenal on Monday. Being kind, this has been a season to forget for them.

Like Burnley, the Blades have often been outclassed to the point where it has become embarrassing for their fans.

I know what that feels like because I live near Norwich and my old club's last two top-flight campaigns have been so disappointing - the Canaries finished last in 2019-20 and 2021-22 - that some of their supporters would rather have stayed in the Championship.

Similarly, it has not been a pleasant experience for Sheffield United fans seeing their team humiliated week in, week out, which is what has happened. It's been a desperate campaign so far, and I don't see it improving now.

    Prediction: 3-0

Sheffield United have won just three games so far this season and have a goal difference of -50.

Sheffield United travel to Bournemouth with the hope of bouncing back from a 6-0 defeat by Arsenal at Bramall Lane on Monday.

Midtable Bournemouth ended their seven-game winless run with victory over Burnley last time out.

The Cherries have won two of their past three league meetings with Sheffield United (D1).

There's a few teams in action shortly who are in desperate need of three points to help their fight for Premier League survival.

Sheffield United look doomed at the bottom of the table and our friends at Opta have given them a 99.8% chance of going down.

The odds are slightly better for 18th-placed Luton Town, who have a game in hand on most of their relegation rivals. Opta say their chances of being relegated stand at 81%.

Meanwhile, a win today for Crystal Palace would be a huge step towards safety. Opta have said the Eagles are likely to remain in 14th place come the end of the season with only a 2% chance of relegation.

However, we must remember it's all a bit more complicated than that given Nottingham Forest and Everton's alleged financial breaches.

Manchester United's Alejandro Garnacho to TNT Sports: "We lost the last two games it's important to be there. We want to be in the Champions League next season so I am very happy [with this win].

"Now every game the manager said is a final. We have to win every single game, we're Manchester United. The job is done.

"The manager wants me to go one v one, to shoot, to dribble. I won two penalties. It's important.

"It's like a dream with my age. A full Old Trafford stadium chanting my name is incredible. I am very proud and happy."

A good day at the office for Manchester United. I don't really think they needed to get out of third gear to be honest.

Everton did threaten but I think the only positive in today's performance for Everton was that it's not a particularly long journey home.

Man U fans, and everyone else for that matter, need to adjust their expectations. We’re not that good anymore! Get used to it. I’m so tired of people being surprised when we have a mediocre game. This performance has not been that bad, I’ve definitely seen a LOT worse this season.

United were better in the second half than the first half, there was more control. They deserved to win but it wasn't a great game.

Josh270489: It isn't pretty but grinding out results is exactly what Man United need at the moment. Doesn't matter who the opposition is. Only thing that matters is the 3 points.

They [Everton] have created chances and Manchester United have defended resolutely.

I think United have actually started managing the game a little bit better.

    What's happened here?!

Manchester United are given a third penalty....but, in the same blow of his whistle, referee Simon Hooper then gives an offside.

It's rightly not a penalty, Marcus Rashford was taken out, but he had timed his run too early. Got there in the end.

    Man Utd 2-0 Everton

    Izzy Christiansen
Former Everton and England midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

I think Manchester United moving forward, the game management.

They have had the opportunity to see the game out but I think they have lacked that composure to keep the ball, absorb the pressure and the enthusiasm out of Everton.

It has given Everton the invitation to keep at them and keep knocking on the door.

United still can't find that third! Bruno Fernandes' free-kick is chipped into Casemiro who has a free header but directs his effort wide.

    He'd have been offside anyway.
