Chris Wood is scoring some crucial goals g for Nottingham Forest and they will be hoping he can continue his form as they battle to stay up.

Fifty percent of his Premier League goals this season have been headers (5/10).

Only in 2018-19 (six) has he ever scored more headed goals in a single campaign in the competition than his five so far this term.

Wow! My mind is still blown from Saturday's outrageous game.

What an absolute rollercoaster of emotions that win over West Ham was. At 3-1 down, to win 4-3 in that emphatic fashion was unbelievable.

That game sums up Newcastle's season. Ups and downs with the only predictable thing being injuries. Three players were forced off in that game including club captain Jamaal Lascelles, who becomes the club's second centre-back in a couple of weeks to suffer an ACL injury and be ruled out for up to nine months. These long-term injuries this season are beyond a joke now.

I’m not going to focus on any negatives or bad news in this piece though, I can’t after such a magnificent comeback. Such a spirited performance from the lads in an electric St. James' Park made for a special Easter weekend. I’m delighted for Harvey Barnes as well as he has struggled with injuries all season and showed his quality with two brilliant finishes.

The hope now is that this result can be carried into Tuesday night and the game against Everton to really catapult our season. Nine games remain for the Magpies to push on towards the European qualification goal. Victory over the Hammers sees the Toon Army only one point behind seventh place with a game in hand. Even after all the turmoil, bad luck and crisis this season there’s still a glorious opportunity to salvage European football. No doubt this rollercoaster will still have plenty of twists and turns but a 4-3 classic should see us looking up, not dropping off.

  3. 'Bournemouth have surprised me'published at 19:00 British Summer Time 2 April

Bournemouth v Crystal Palace (19:45 BST)

These two teams are next to each other in the table in 13th and 14th but the difference is Bournemouth are eight points ahead and looking up the table, while Crystal Palace are still looking over their shoulder at the teams below them.

Palace should be fine in terms of staying up, but they are a team in transition and are too reliant on Eberechi Eze for creativity.

This is going to be close but Dominic Solanke is still scoring and the Cherries are on a good run of results. They have really surprised me this campaign, especially after the way they started it.

I reckon Bournemouth will edge it but I should probably apologise to their fans now for saying that because whenever I back them, they never end up winning.

    Prediction: 2-1

If Everton fail to win tonight it will set an unwanted piece of history as it will be their longest winless run in the Premier League era.

Since the Toffees won 2-0 at Burnley on 16 December, Sean Dyche’s side have lost in the league against Tottenham, Manchester City (twice), Wolves, West Ham, Manchester United and Bournemouth and drawn with Aston Villa, Fulham, Tottenham, Crystal Palace and Brighton.

That’s five points out of 36, a dozen league games without a win and also the worst run since a spell of 12 Premier League matches without a victory between August and October of 1994, although that 94-95 season ended much better than it started - with Everton winning the FA Cup.

The club have only ever had two longer top-flight winless runs: 14 from March to September 1937 and 13 from October to December 1957.

Everton are 16th, three points above the relegation zone and having played a game fewer than three of the four teams below them, although they would have been in 14th and in a much healthier position had they not had six points deducted for breaching Premier League financial rules.

I was at St James' Park to see Newcastle's late comeback to beat West Ham 4-3 and there is a lot to admire about Eddie Howe's side.

They found a way of winning the game, and it was great for Harvey Barnes to come on and change the game the way he did after missing so much of the campaign.

My concern for them here is how much that will have taken out of them. Their squad was already injury ravaged and now their captain Jamaal Lascelles is out for several months too.

I am taking a bit of a punt here, especially given that Everton have gone 12 league games without a win, but I think Newcastle are so stretched and put so much into it on Saturday, that it will catch up with them here.

Everton's big problem is still in attack because they really struggle to find the back of the net but they do create chances and I have a sneaking feeling they will get a result, just like they did when they beat the Magpies 3-0 at Goodison Park in December.

    Prediction: 1-2

Amid the up and down nature of West Ham's campaign, one constant bright spot has been Jarrod Bowen.

If Bowen scores tonight it will be his 16th league goal of the campaign - levelling the Hammers record for a Premier League season, set by Paolo Di Canio in 1999-2000, with seven games in hand to surpass the Italian.

For West Ham fans, Bowen could not be in more esteemed company.

Will be very interesting to see how Newcastle cope without the suspended Anthony Gordon against his old club tonight. Think Everton might feel they're in with a real chance of picking up a rare away victory against Newcastle's depleted defence.

  9. Five Bournemouth changes; Edouard on Palace benchpublished at 18:45 British Summer Time 2 April

Bournemouth v Crystal Palace (19:45 BST)

Bournemouth secured a 2-1 win over Everton on Saturday and are in good form having taken 10 points from the past four games.

With an away match at Luton coming up at the weekend, boss Andoni Iraola has opted to freshen up his side and has made five changes.

Lloyd Kelly is among those who come back into the team after he came off the bench to provide the assist for Dominic Solanke's 16th Premier League goal of the season.

Ryan Christie, Dango Ouattara, Alex Scott and Philip Billing also return to the starting XI. Chris Mepham is not involved tonight.

Bournemouth XI: Neto, Smith, Zabarnyi, Kelly, Ouattara, Billing, Cook, Tavernier, Scott, Christie, Solanke.

Substitutes: Kerkez, Faivre, Adams, Kluivert, Hill, Semenyo, Unal, Aarons, Travers.

Colombia midfielder Jefferson Lerma, who spent five years at Bournemouth between 2018-2023, starts against his old club.

With 15 minutes left in Newcastle’s last game, their season was in grave danger of falling apart.

They were 3-1 down at home to West Ham, one of the teams they are challenging to secure European football for next season, with this coming after the tame 2-0 loss to Manchester City in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup - a result that ended Newcastle’s silverware hopes in 2023-24.

But, to the delight of the St James’ Park faithful, Alexander Isak got his second goal of the game before a late double from substitute Harvey Barnes, including a last-minute winner, saw then snatch the dramatic victory.

Newcastle are eighth, a point behind seventh-placed West Ham (who entertain Tottenham later tonight) but with a game in hand on the Hammers.

Depending on who wins the FA Cup, seventh may be enough to qualify for Europe which would be something for Newcastle to cling on to from a tough campaign after last year’s highs that saw them finish fourth, qualify for the Champions League and reach the Carabao Cup final.

I will be at St James’ Park to cover Newcastle's game against Everton. So, for the record, Magpies fans are never less than friendly and ultra-supportive of their side.

‌Everton fans might be less encouraging as Sean Dyche’s team are now staring into the abyss, having not won in 12 league games.

However, how the kick on Dominic Calvert-Lewin down at Bournemouth was not a penalty, yet the lightest tap on Mykhailo Mudryk’s shoulder by Lorenz Assignon at Stamford Bridge was, utterly baffled me.

Burnley boss Vincent Kompany was given a red card for his furious reaction along with the unfortunate Assignon and to be honest I reckon I would have reacted the same way.

‌Everton’s Dyche, on the other hand, stayed on to watch as Seamus Coleman scored a bizarre own goal in the last seconds to throw away a precious point. At that moment Everton’s season looked more than doomed. It looked jinxed.

  13. Team news - Elanga starts for Forestpublished at 18:33 British Summer Time 2 April

Nottingham Forest v Fulham (19:30 BST)

Nottingham Forest boss Nuno Espirito Santo makes three changes to the side that earned a point against Crystal Palace last time out.

Ibrahim Sangare drops to the bench along with Divock Origi while Brazilian defender Felipe is not involved.

Forward Taiwo Awoniyi is still on the sidelines with an unspecified injury while Willy Boly faced a late fitness test and has not been cleared as fit enough to join the squad.

Andrew Omobamidele, Danilo and Anthony Elanga all step in.

Nottingham Forest XI: Sels, Williams, Gibbs-White, Wood, Hudson-Odoi, Elanga, Yates, Danilo, Murillo, Omobamidele, Aina

Subs: Turner, Sangare, Kouyate, Toffolo, Dominguez, Niakhate, Origi, Montiel, Reyna

Fulham boss Marco Silva makes two changes to the side that drew against Sheffield United last time out.

Timothy Castagne and Willian drop to the bench in favour of Harry Wilson and Kenny Tete.

In-form Rodrigo Muniz starts having been involved in nine Premier League goals (eight goals, one assist) in his last eight appearances.

Fulham XI: Leno, Tosin, Bassey, Robinson, Iwobi, Palhinha, Muniz, Lukic, Pereira, Wilson, Tete

The London Stadium has not been a happy hunting ground for Tottenham in recent years. They have not won at West Ham since 2019.

The last time Spurs went so long without a league victory at their London rivals, it was a streak of six winless matches at Upton Park between 1995 and 2001.

The prize for breaking that streak tonight for Spurs is a return to the top four - albeit only if they win by two clear goals.

Nottingham Forest v Fulham (19:30 BST)

I was wrong when I thought Fulham would beat Sheffield United on Saturday, and Marco Silva's side have not picked up many points on the road this season.

So Nottingham Forest will definitely see this as a winnable game - but the same applied to their past two fixtures, against Luton and Crystal Palace, and they did not win either of those.

Chris Wood is bailing Forest out at the moment with some important goals, and I would not be surprised if he scored again - but I expect this one will end up being a draw.

    Good evening!

It is a packed Tuesday night of action in the Premier League with five games taking place.

It is very much all to play for in the fight for survival, with Burnley having even dragged themselves back into contention to stay up, despite their situation looking pretty bleak not too long ago.

The Clarets are in action tonight, along with Nottingham Forest and Everton. Which of those clubs' fans will be breathing a little easier by the end of tonight?

  20. The battle to beat the droppublished at 18:15 British Summer Time 2 April

We're at that stage of the season that anyone whose side is involved in a relegation battle hates.

It is the time when you spend hours staring at your team's run in, working out where the wins are going to come from.

It also the time when you suddenly become interested in other sides you largely had no interest in otherwise, willing them to defeats to ensure they don't get a result that could plunge your team into the relegation zone.

That will be the case for a number of fans tonight with three of the bottom six in action.
