  3. 'We will keep working to reach perfection'published at 22:16 British Summer Time 2 April

    FT: Nottingham Forest 3-1 Fulham

    Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo speaking to BBC Match of the Day:

"We played good. We started the game much better compared to the previous game. One of the best starts we've had in terms of the way we attacked and the overall balance.

"Our fans always support us but we have to give the energy back and then it comes back to the pitch too and the players feel the energy by their actions, the way they work and every action they ignite the crowd. When we attack and the effort to defend.

"We still have to regret some aspects but let's not ignore the things we did very well."

On Morgan Gibbs-White: "He's very talented, no doubt about that. He's reaching the levels of a footballer player that is almost complete. He reads the game well, he has talent, he can score. The biggest challenge is to keep Morgan at that level and sustain this level of all the players. Many players did well behind him to allow him to attack."

On improving on performance: "We had clear chances by an inch that we did not achieve. We will keep repeating so we can take 100% of them and try to reach perfection that is our main obsession.

"It's important but it can not distract us because we have a long way to go. We've had good performances before and not been able to sustain them so let's take that into this game and try to sustain the performance."

Ed: Should have won comfortably but Spurs endless faffing around without purpose or intent for most of the game is why there were only 4 shots on target. 94th minute finally put a cross in & should have been a goal. Infuriating but it's early in Ange-era.

Spurs dominated the ball in large spells but just did not do enough in the second half. They are usually good at getting late goals but it didn't ever look like they would muster up anything today.

West Ham arguably had the better of the chances in the second half, Michail Antonio will be particularly disappointed with the one he had and missed.

I don't think either manager will be too disappointed with a point.

Tomas Soucek chips it over the top to Jarrod Bowen. He keeps it in play but there's nobody there to put it in.

Tottenham then go up the other end frantically, it breaks down, and another end-to-end attack ends with Michail Antonio's failed overhead kick.

  9. 'Let's ignore the noise and do our job'published at 22:05 British Summer Time 2 April

    FT: Nottingham Forest 3-1 Fulham

    Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest boss Nuno Espirito Santo to TNT Sport: "The performance was good. First half we played very well. We controlled and the attacking was very good. Pleased with performance and result of course.

"The way we went forward we really wanted to go. Good combinations and the way we defend helps, helping each other is basic for us. Too bad we conceded, our main goal was a clean sheet but happy with the overall performance definitely.

"Very important, you are three goals up and you are suffering but the boys stuck with the task and controlled Fulham. We know how dangerous they are with the speed and quality of the wingers.

"Fantastic, it was tough to take when the points were taken from us. But we stick together, let's ignore the noise and try to do our job. There's still a long way to go.

"It's too bad we can't always play at City Ground! The noise they make and the help they give us, they deserve this moment so much. We've been trying hard to give them this happiness so let's try to enjoy it but there's a long way to go."

Maddison is overrated. Actual big clubs like Arsenal, Chelsea, Man City, Man Utd and Liverpool all signed midfielders last summer yet none went for him. He’s got 11 goal involvements all season. That’s not even half what Cole Palmer has in a supposedly struggling Chelsea team

Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored his first Premier League goal since October, ending a run of 18 matches and 41 shots in the competition before converting his 88th minute penalty against Newcastle.

Indeed, he’s netted more goals in the competition against Newcastle (six) than any against any other opponent.

Giovani Lo Celso is on for Spurs, replacing Brennan Johnson as West Ham win a free-kick.

Cristian Romero is booked for a foul. James Ward-Prowse tries to take it quickly but the referee's whistle has gone.

Jarrod Bowen and Mohammed Kudus have a bit of fun with goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario while the substitution is made.

  14. 'We are taking a lot of steps in the right direction'published at 22:01 British Summer Time 2 April

    FT: Newcastle 1-1 Everton

    Everton

Everton manager Sean Dyche, speaking to BBC MOTD: "More of an edge to it. We were disappointed on Saturday, performance was a bit flat. Tonight was a really good performance, particularly in the second half. We finally found a penalty, we don't get many. They got the right decision and we scored."

On Dominic Calvert-Lewin scoring: "He has been working hard and getting in the right areas. He strikes it well enough to go in and I am pleased for him and the group."

That's 13 games without a win, but a good point? "This job wasn't a walk in the park when I got it and it is still not, there is a long way to go but there are a lot of steps we are making in the right direction.

"I know we are capable of getting wins and results, we haven't scored as many as we would like but the mentality is right and certainly right tonight."

The downfall to Ange Postecoglou's style of play at times is that the players really stick to it.

Sometimes you need the players on the pitch to realise that it is not working and to try something different. Take someone on or take a shot from distance. Ange made some changes but it seems like they are still sticking to the game plan.

  20. 'Fulham struggle to win games they are expected to win'published at 21:59 British Summer Time 2 April

    FT: Nottingham Forest 3-1 Fulham

    Statman Dave
Football analyst on BBC Radio 5 Live

If you look at Fulham's last few games, they have won the games where they have had less possession and lost the games where they have had more, highlighting the fact that they struggle to win games they are expected to dominate and win.

Tonight Forest only had 33% of the ball, at the weekend Sheffield United had 37% of the ball, and the common theme across the two games was that Fulham really struggled to deal with the counter attacking threats of those teams at times.
