    Arsenal 1-1 Bayern Munich

This is a terrific watch. Bayern might be having an under-par season in the Bundesliga but they're fighting hard in the Champions League.

The Emirates was silent as that goal went in as there are no away supporters. A strange sound in a packed football stadium. Very good goal from Bayern too.

City looking very fragile at the back in recent days. Ortega should be doing better there as well. Unconvincing.

I’m seeing the word ‘luck’ a lot re Madrid. I don’t think they’ll care too much! It’s the CL!

    John

To be honest I was expecting this from Real Madrid to get revenge from last year and look what's happened

    Real Madrid 2-1 Man City

Real Madrid v Man City is only the second knockout match in the Champions League to see three goals scored in the opening 14 minutes, after Man City v Tottenham in April 2019 (2-2 in 11 mins).

    Wow!

Out of nowhere Bayern Munich are back on level terms as Serge Gnabry marks his return to his old club with the equaliser after Arsenal are caught out at the back.

It comes from a lovely move involving Leon Goretzka and Leroy Sane.

The Emirates falls silent for the first time.

Any chance of a breather? Manchester City look slightly rattled. What a frantic start.

Before the game we spoke about the pace of the attackers, Manuel Akanji does well to get back at Rodrygo but the luck is with the attacker and it deflects through the keeper's legs.

Perfect start for the Gunners. That was Bukayo Saka's fourth Champions League goal of the season. He now has 18 in all competitions for this campaign. He is helping keep Arsenal's charge for a memorable Premier League-Champions League Double alive.

GOAL - Real Madrid 2-1 Man Citypublished at 20:15 British Summer Time 9 April

    Rodrygo (14 mins)

    Well, well, well.

Less than two minutes after that Eduardo Camavinga goal, Rodrygo is through on goal after a delightful pass from Vinicius Junior and he manages to sneak an effort past Manuel Akanji. It takes a slight deflection and goes straight through Stefan Ortega's legs and dribbles over the line.

    What is going on here?!

    Real Madrid 1-1 Man City

It was the first time they have strung 10 or 12 passes together, Man City just stood off them and let them play.

You feel for Stefan Ortega, nothing he could do about the deflection off Ruben Dias on the edge of the box.

    Madrid back in it.

It's an excellent pass from Ben White to play in Saka and the finish is even better. The stadium is bouncing!

    Eduardo Camavinga (12 mins)

Told you you couldn't take your eyes off this one.

Eduardo Camavinga decides to just go for it from just outside the area and he gets lucky with a wicked deflection off Ruben Dias. I'm not sure whether his shot was on target so it may well go down as an own goal.

    Bukayo Saka

    Vintage Saka!

The Emirates has never sounded so loud as Bukayo Saka shows superb vision and composure to fire low and hard beyond Manuel Neuer.

Ten minutes on the clock. Just the one attempt so far but this is so intriguing.

By the way, Thomas Tuchel was not happy with that yellow card for Alphonso Davies and has made his feelings known to the fourth official.

  16. 'Very, very open so far'published at 20:11 British Summer Time 9 April

    Real Madrid 0-1 Man City

    Chris Waddle

It has been such an open game.

I as expecting nerves and maybe a bit of caution from both sides but it has been very, very open so far.

    Real Madrid 0-1 Man City

Manchester City have just managed to take a bit of the sting out of the game by enjoying a decent spell of possession.

Real Madrid quite happy to let them have it and wait for an opportunity to open up for them.

  18. YELLOW CARDpublished at 20:10 British Summer Time 9 April

    Arsenal 0-0 Bayern Munich

Bukayo Saka hits the deck after a challenge from behind by Alphonso Davies.

The Swedish referee quickly whips out a yellow card.

Davies will now miss the second leg in Munich next week. Big blow for Bayern.

  19. 'Lunin should save it'published at 20:09 British Summer Time 9 April

    Real Madrid 0-1 Man City

    Chris Waddle
Ex-Newcastle winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

The goalie was on the left-hand side of the goal and you start thinking, there is a gap there if he goes early.

Even if Lunin gets across there he should save it. It is great vision and awareness from Bernardo Silva though.

    Real Madrid 0-1 Man City

What a start we've had in Madrid! End-to-end stuff as Manchester City get on the attack. Erling Haaland sees his shot saved before Jack Grealish also has a shot blocked and Haaland again can't do anything with the rebound.

Can't take your eyes off this one.
