That Caitlin Hayes header came about because of dreadful England defending. The Irish player ran past three static defenders to meet the ball.

England have really lost tempo in the last 10 minutes.

You would hear them across the Irish Sea if the hosts score.

England almost catch the Irish on the break, but Fran Kirby cannot quite curve her pass enough for Beth Mead to chase and Courtney Brosnan gathers.

As the home side push for a goal, space could open up for the English attackers.

Obviously, England have dominated but all it takes is one goal to change things.

Another Megan Campbell throw - but this time she throws it short for Katie McCabe to ping a cross in.

The attempt to mix it up does not pay off as Hannah Hampton claims comfortably.

That was straight from the training ground, a great ball from Katie McCabe and it just wouldn't fall for Caitlin Hayes there. England are let off the hook.

Katie McCabe is standing over the set piece. This is right in her wheelhouse.

But the Irish captain crosses instead, it is played back across goal by Louise Quinn and falls agonisingly behind her onrushing team mates.

Fran Kirby has to scramble the ball behind. That is as close as the home side have come all night.

Another long Megan Campbell through is punched away by Hampton.

Then Lauren James concedes a free kick 25 yards out in a central position. Good chance this for the Irish.

The England left-back gets to her feet for now, but one to keep an eye on.

England haven't killed off the hosts yet. To be honest, they haven't had to. Republic of Ireland have still offered nothing in attack.

Time for that to change though, if the visitors don't take their chances.

Young forward Emily Murphy is on for her third Irish cap. The 21-year-old replaces Kyra Carusa, who has barely operated on scraps tonight.

That chance just goes to show you that you can't switch off in these games. It was a great reaction save from Courtney Brosnan.

Ella Toone goes for the spectacular, shooting narrowly over from fully 30 yards.

Courtney Brosnan was rooted to the spot, watching the ball fly just over her bar and hit the stantion holding up the net.
