    Karen Carney
    Former England midfielder on ITV

It shouldn't have been a penalty, and I think the referee got that one wrong.

As the ball comes in Louise Quinn's arm is up, but it comes up off her thigh which is not a penalty.

Maybe from Republic of Ireland's perspective, it was justice that it hit the post.

  2. 'James goal was a sucker punch'published at 20:27 British Summer Time 9 April

    Stephanie Roche
Republic of Ireland striker on RTE

It was a good start from the Republic of Ireland on the front foot, and we spoke about how they couldn't afford to concede an early goal.

So it was such a sucker punch when Lauren James scored, she doesn't miss from there.

  3. 'Lauren James let the ball come to her and finished'published at 20:26 British Summer Time 9 April

HT: Republic of Ireland 0-2 England

    Eni Aluko
    Former England forward on ITV

Lauren James anticipates that the ball is going to fall to her [for the opening goal]. The best midfielders in the world know how to do that.

Stand still, the ball will come to you.

I think to Niamh’s point (20.13 BST) women’s football everywhere is in a good place - the games are getting closer and closer and no one team is streets ahead like they used to be.

  5. France maintain perfect start despite two red cardspublished at 20:21 British Summer Time 9 April

    FT: Sweden 0-1 France

Elsewhere in Group A3, France have earned their second win from two games so far with an impressive victory away to Sweden.

Wendie Renard scored from close range following a corner in the 80th minute to seal three points.

The French had forward Valerie Becho sent off deep into second half stoppage time for a second booking, while manager Herve Renard was earlier also given his marching orders after arguing with the officials.

That result means France will finish this round of fixtures top of the group, regardless of the result in Dublin.

It's been a good game. England are moving the ball around much nicer than they did on Friday.

The hosts started well but they have a lot of work to do.

I think the Republic of Ireland girls now will look to get to half-time at 2-0 and regroup.

  8. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:17 British Summer Time 9 April

No, although England did make a mess of the clearance and there were some Irish claims for handball.

The referee only blows for half-time through. So far, so good for England.

The hosts give the ball away in midfield, a rare loose pass by Katie McCabe.

England look to counter, but it breaks down as Alessia Russo is caught offside.

If England carry on in possession, and really start to turn on now, they might find a third or even a fourth in the last 10 minutes. We’ve got so much talent in this team and we need to find a way to take advantage of it against stronger teams.

The strides that have been made by Irish women's football have been massive. I think qualifying for the World Cup was a watershed moment and most of the girls are playing away from Republic of Ireland, in Europe and America.

Lucy Bronze attempts to finish off a clever England passing move with a very ambitious volley from the right of the box.

I don't want to say she missed by miles, but let's just say she would have got three points if the rugby posts were still up at Aviva Stadium.

Very different game to Friday. Walsh has the freedom of the pitch today, she couldn't get a kick last week.

Lauren James attempts a low effort from 25 yards, which Courtney Brosnan snaffles up with a solid low save to her left.

That latest England attack was sparked by a brilliant sliding tackle from Leah Williamson to regain possession in midfield. Great to see her back.

It's not often Alex Greenwood has a chance to score two goals for England in the same match so she will be gutted to miss that.

Louise Quinn was still furious at the decision. Lucy Bronze had come over and put an arm around her.

The crowd enjoyed the miss though. That's for sure!

Well, certainly plenty to report from Dublin so far.

The game has settled back into the pattern of English possession, for now.

Justice done I feel in that missed penalty. That was very harsh and I’m an England fan. This is a much better performance from England than on Friday. More direct and Leah Williamson at the back with those distribution skills is making such a difference!

    Catie

Hate seeing England miss penalties - still have flashbacks to Steph Houghton in Lyon - but that was justice. Dreadful decision from the ref.

  20. '3-0 would have been harsh'published at 20:05 British Summer Time 9 April

    Siobhan Chamberlain

You have got a little bit extra luck there. It could have so easily come back off the post and hit the goalkeeper and gone in.

It would be harsh if Republic of Ireland were now 3-0 down with two of them penalties.
