If things stay as they are Everton will be five points clear of the relegation zone.

Nottingham Forest, meanwhile, would remain just one point clear.

  2. KICK-OFFpublished at 14:35 British Summer Time 21 April

    Everton 1-0 Nottingham Forest

We're back under way at Goodison Park.

Nottingham Forest have only won one of the 19 previous times they have fallen 1-0 behind in the Premier League this season.

This is a massive 45 minutes for Nuno Espirito Santo's side.

Expect to hear more about that non-penalty decision if Nottingham Forest do not get a result here. In fact expect to hear more about it even if they do.

It looked like a clear handball by Ashley Young but nothing was given. Everton have escaped there.

Speaking as a Forest fan of 60 years, how on God's green earth can we have broken financial fair play and still be this bad.

Everton go into half-time off the back of a good 45 minutes Sean Dyche has got a performance from Everton.

With a 1-0 score-line Nuno will be telling his team they can do better. Forest have more to offer and we have an intriguing second half coming up.

I have absolutely no idea what constitutes a handball in the box any more! VAR consistency questionable again.

    Adam

Re the handball, as a neutral, I think that VAR should go Specsavers!

    Pat

Two clear penalties not given for Nottingham Forest to continue an entire season of getting nothing from VAR. What justification is there for denying either penalty shout? Ashley Young kicked Nicolás Dominguez and then handled it with his arm away from his body.

I said Nottingham Forest might feel a bit wronged by that decision not to award a penalty for a handball.

And it seems that some of the Forest coaching staff feel the same way. It appears one of them was shown a yellow card just before the break for arguing with the fourth official.

Steven Re. to Bigos at 13:59: The exact opposite of what you say is true. Having Everton stay in the Premier League would show that heart and courage trumps the totally unfair and incompetent behaviour of the Premier League which should be thoroughly investigated and regulated.

It wasn't given by Anthony Taylor initially, and a quick VAR check rules that it's not a penalty.

Ashley's Young's arm did look like it was outstretched so Forest might feel a bit aggrieved by that one.

Ooh will there be a penalty for Nottingham Forest here?

That ball seemed to strike Ashley Young's arm in the box.

Brilliant save from England's number one Jordan Pickford.

He was completely out of position, but he scrambles across his goal and gets himself set - a fantastic save.

Pickford celebrates the save like it was a goal!

That's a great stop from Jordan Pickford to deny Chris Wood.

Neco Williams looks like he's gearing up for a shot, but he finds Wood, who takes well it on the volley only for it to be smothered quickly by the Everton goalkeeper.

If it's 1-0 by the 60-minute mark Everton will drop deeper and deeper.

Everton fans normally urge Idrissa Gueye not to shoot, such is his poor record and traditionally wayward aim, but they will take that one.

It's been a real mess at times but Everton have shown the greater attacking intent and deserve their lead. It also helped release some of the tension that was building around Goodison Park.
