    Aston Villa 2-0 Chelsea

Chelsea haven't scored a goal since the 90th-minute of their 6-0 win against Everton on 15 April.

They failed to score in the FA Cup semi-final against Manchester City, losing 1-0 on 20 April, and drew a blank in the 5-0 loss against Arsenal on Tuesday.

It's now 53 minutes into this encounter without hitting the back of the net too.

We needed that second goal, and scored just at the right time. Chelsea controlled large parts of the half without offering much. We've ceded 2 goal leads at home before. Hoping for a more assertive performance this second half.

Douglas Luiz and Moises Caicedo come to blows.

Luiz had a handful of Caicedo's shirt as the Chelsea midfielder tried to work a one-two.

Referee Craig Pawson is having none of it. A yellow card for Luiz and one for Caicedo.

Marc Cucurella is still on a mission to set the record straight after his first half own goal.

He meets Noni Madueke's cross and it's high over the crossbar.

If only he'd done that when he put through his own net earlier.

Emiliano Martinez seemed to be struggling with his thigh early in the first half and he has been replaced by Robin Olsen.

That's a worry for Aston Villa fans. Martinez is such a huge part of this side.

Villa have been very lucky today. Looking leggy and tired. But semi-serious question... How worried do Liverpool need to be about the Villa/Spurs challenge?

    Josh

Max: So fingers and everything crossed, but assuming Villa win this one, surely Spurs can't make up the nine point gap, even with three games in hand?

Morgan Rogers aged 21 years and 276 days is the first Aston Villa player in the Premier League to score in three successive home games while being aged 21 or under.

Rogers joined Villa for £8m plus add-ons in a deal that could rise to £15m.

He only scored once in 20 appearances while on-loan at Blackpool in League One last season but seems much more at home in the Premier League.

Pretty good business in today's market.

Chelsea are such a static team. The player on the ball looks up and the rest of the team are just standing on the spot. There’s no runs, no dynamism. Villa know they just need to stay in position. I feel for the Chelsea fans - must be so frustrating to watch!

I'm not quite sure how we're 2 up with Chelsea dominating possession and Villa riding their luck but I'll take this for now but we really must take more of the possession to nullify any comeback.

Konsa is under pressure from Nicolas Jackson on the halfway line but he leaps well, brings down the ball and lays it back to his goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez.
