It's a great start for Bristol City in terms of the scoreline. We spoke about them making sure they were in a good position and to hold Manchester City to 0-0 after 30 minutes is very good for them.

Amalie Thestrup is back to her feet and limping to the touchline but Khiara Keating looks to have come off worse from that collision.

Thestrup had every right to go for the ball but she catches Keating with her outstretched foot.

Keating has also just stood up and it looks like she wants to carry on too.

That was really brave goalkeeping by Khiara Keating, and she looks to have taken a heavy blow for her troubles.

Reminder that City's sub keeper is Katie Startup, an emergency loanee signed from Brighton due to back-ups Sandy MacIver and Ellie Roebuck being long term absentees.

It's a great move from Bristol City. They built up under pressure and they managed to get themselves out.

It was a really great delivery and Keating managed to get first contact in there. Hopefully she is OK because she hasn't seemed to move that much since going down.

That is what can happy if you back yourself to play in the deeper areas.

Bristol City give Manchester City a taste of their own medicine and pass their way up the field.

It's the first time the hosts have attempted that and it works really well.

But there's a collision between Manchester City goalkeeper Khiara Keating and Bristol City Amalie Thestrup as Ffion Morgan crosses a teasing ball in from the right.

It looks like heavy contact and the medical staff are quickly on the field.

So far so good for Bristol City as we tick over the 30 minute mark.

Naomi Layzell prevents Mary Fowler from getting into the box at the expense of a corner.

The set-piece is dealt with comfortably by Bristol City.

Alanna Kennedy gets away with one there.

Kennedy is caught in possession by Amy Rogers and seems to put a shoulder in. Rogers did eventually come away with the ball after picking herself up from the floor but the attack fizzles out.

We're back under way and Shae Yanez is OK to continue.

She collects a ball over the top on the edge of her six yard box and seems to be moving just fine.

As Emma suggests, Manchester City are relying on others to deliver in the final third tonight.

Khadija Shaw is the top scorer in the WSL this season with 21 goals in 18 games.

Manchester City don't have any other players in double figures, with Lauren Hemp, who has netted nine, their second highest scorer.

Lots of possession and a few decent openings for Manchester City, but no breakthrough.

It's almost as if they are missing an out-and-out striker with a better than a goal per game record...

Play is halted as Bristol City goalkeeper Shae Yanez has picked up an injury.

The American seems to have a problem with her hip and is receiving treatment.

A good opportunity for both managers to have a word with their players.

They were so deep, Bristol City, there, and Manchester City still managed to find a way through.

They need to be wary of dropping that deep.

Lovely slick play from Manchester City.

Chloe Kelly peels out to the right and finds Laura Coombs on the edge of the six yard box. Coombs tees it up for Lauren Hemp but it's a tame shot straight at Shae Yanez.

The press box is right up in the gods at Ashton Gate, and the seagulls seem to have taken exception to us being in their airspace.

There are a lot of gulls flying around, swooping just over journalists' heads and generally making a racket in the rafters.

    Frustration from Manchester City?

They've struggled to create clear cut chances so far despite dominating possession and territory.

Laura Coombs hits it from a good 30 yards and it's a comfortable save for Shae Yanez.

The home fans are trying to get behind their team as the drums bangs and the chants begin at Ashton Gate.

While that is going on, Manchester City work it through the thirds but the final ball to Chloe Kelly is overhit and runs through to Shae Yanez.

Bristol City work so hard to win the ball back but they then need to make sure they are then retaining it and allowing the others to get up with play.

The back four needs time to get up with the rest of the team so that retention of the ball is going to be important.

From the starting selections, it looked as if Bristol City might line up in a 5-4-1 formation and sit in a low block.

But out of possession it is more of a 4-4-1-1 with two players closing the Man City defenders when they are in possession.

While Man City have had much more of the ball, the home side certainly aren't just sitting around waiting to be shot at.

Bristol City can't cope with Mary Fowler as she cuts in from the right and prods the ball across goal. It all gets a bit scrappy in a crowded penalty area until Lauren Hemp gets a shot off.

    It's saved by Shae Yanez.
