With 10 minutes gone there's several times on the board now. Kimi Raikkonen is the quickest with 1:34.374, with Fernando Alonso half a second behind in P2.

I've just seen Toto Wolff and he appeared to raise his eyebrows as if to say 'oh my goodness we don't need this at the start of FP2. Hamilton, meanwhile, looks to be waiting for the right time to head out and work through his programme.

The two Ferraris head out, but with different tyres on their cars. Sebastian Vettel has mediums bolted on, with Kimi Raikkonen on hards.

Jenson Button is in no rush to head out. He's stood supping an espresso and gives the camera a little wink when he sees it trained on him.

Could this be his final British Grand Prix? Hopefully not.

Nico Rosberg isn't too concerned. He's playing a bit of keepy uppy round the back of the Mercedes garage.

Interesting. Nico Rosberg was complaining about problems with ERS deployment in first practice.

Something not quite right with his car today?

I am standing outside Nico Rosberg's garage. His car is up in the stands and he won't be out in the next couple of minutes. Not sure what exactly is going on there.

Sebastian Vettel provided the two main talking points from first practice. He tried out the new halo protection device for the first time in a practice session this season before coasting into the pits at the end of FP1 with what appeared to be a gearbox problem.

I have no problem with that.

There's been more than a hint of Top Gun about the tussle between Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg, although I'm not quite sure we'll see Rosberg telling Hamilton he can be his wingman any time come the end of the season.

Still, it's been a fascinating clash of personalities, but one which has led to the team warning that they will be heavily punished if there are any more on-track shenanigans this season.

How do you think they should be punished if they come to blows again? Let us know, #bbcf1, external
